AManWithAPlan4 especially as far as modern Mercedes are concerned. I’m a big Merc guy, but I feel like there design language lately has kinda taken a nose dive
with the last statements in this video, Hoovie touched on some of my feelings about the channel.... buying 6 figure cars was never what drew me to the channel and now I find myself skimming the videos just to get thru it to basically feel like I'm keeping up with what's going on but not really watching the whole thing like I used to. It was the real hoopties that he would buy. The everyday car (that most could easily afford) that he seemed to point out really cool features about it, which in turn, if you read the comments, it inspired the other sub's to either look for one similar for themselves or found it to be a cooler car than they'd thought. I hope to see the channel turn and embrace the original theme a lot more. To be honest, I tend to lean towards Watch JRGo's channel a bit more due to his more down to earth spending and choice of cars. With that said though, thanks again Tyler for the entertainment. It is appreciated.
I agree. I knew I wasn't the only guy skimming through the super cars videos. Yawn. I recently subscribed to watchjrgo when he bought the 67 camaro RS. That is what I want to watch. Other great channels are coldwarmotors, johnathan W, Mustie1, thecorvetteben, fuzzy dice projects, vice grip garage, Dylan McCool. Thanks for the memories Hoovie, it was a nice run. I hope you come back down to earth soon so I can enjoy your videos again.
Look at Tavarish... same thing, I watch even less of that channel because it's not actually stuff you can do in your garage. The orange clapped out Lamborghini I like but because it was such a basket case when he bought it.
I understand why you think like that, but some viewers like me watch hoovie for him, the commentary, dialogue with wizard, etc. The one fact that I don't understand is that he said some time ago that the more crappy the car is the more views he gets. Like the bentley or m5. Yet he still buys cars that are over 100 k. Maybe because he got alot more subscribers. Anyway, I like his videos and I will keep watching. Hope he will make videos which everyone can enjoy
Agreed; I've enjoyed his stuff like the Imperial, the Woodie, Delorean, Volvo art car, etc. I'm sure it's great driving a Lambo, but hell, its boring viewing, and don't talk to me about Car Trek. I guess everything has an arc ( wonder of Doug is going the same way, hence his auction site). Hoovie seems like a nice guy, I hope he works it out for his channel.
Modern day classic. All fingers point to a collector car. First car built ground up from AMG. Last NA V8. One off model with no successor. Only model with gullwing aside from 300sl which was 50yrs ago. MB will probably not have another gulwing model for another 50yrs to preserve its heritage.
Hoovie, in his early 30s, living in a literal mansion, with a cathedral for a garage, that is full of six-figure cars that no longer excite him: "I'll never have a million dollars."
Ya I laughed out loud when I heard him say that. A RU-vidr with over a million subs and pulling massive amounts of viewers on each video. I have no qualms about his success. But come on man!
He’s very likely talking about having a million dollars in the bank at any time. Imagine the overhead that he has. Definitely NOT paying cash for most of his nice new stuff
@@nickamalfitano3613 As much as hoovie likes to play dumb, he is a family man, and, I am sure, smarter than he likes to let on (it's counter to his image as the "dumbest youtube car channel"). My guess is he keeps a reasonable amount of cash on hand as a cushion, and probably knows his way around the markets (or, at least, knows savvy investors that are setting him up nicely).
@@mrpantur7280 you probably make that mistake in real life. Here’s some advice, take the learning and better yourself instead of sounding like you came off a council estate.
You're reaching that turning point where you find that the most fun you can have with money is helping others with it. Im looking forward to what happens next!
Tyler, I appreciate your candor regarding the whole "I bought yet another supercar". I truly believe it is a turnoff for many people and the reason why I simply cannot stand watching some of the more popular automotive YT channels anymore. Childess is the word I feel best describes these folks, their audience and their content. You manage to keep things light hearted and relatable without all that. Cheers, Michael in Toronto.
I started watching Hoovy because I wanted to prove to people that 2000s and 2010s cars are garbage, but Tyler is such a charismatic guy I started watching just for him, don't care what car it is.
There are too many other people on youtube doing that now. In order to stand out, hes switched to much more rare and expensive pieces of crap to throw money away on. Im sure hes traded up over the years of doing this, so between what he sells the sorted cars for and the income from RU-vid, he comes out ahead. Besides, you can only watch him fix up a $300 jeep so many times before viewers lose interest. Kind of like BMW projects. You already know whats going to happen.
@@churchgest It's fine, but it's not as fun as the old stuff. It's not like there aren't a ton of hoopties still out. Where is the Alfa Romeo Milano/GTV6, the Isuzu Impulse Turbo, the XR4ti, Fiero GT, MR2 supercharged? Any of those will be more fun than a Mercedes gullwing.
Yeah, he sure does emphasize "cheapest in the U.S, like poor Hoovie is too tight on cash to get a "nice" one.... notice he never actually says the price...
Wow, Hoovie has a heart. I can see your point, when you've owned 'everything' you lose touch with what's important about car ownership. All of a sudden the world is a different place and everything needs recalibrating. It's nice of you to notice.
Tyler, you have done a great job and entertained and educated us all. You’ve done what we would all like to try but are too chicken to, so it’s fun to see how it all plays out. You have earned every penny! It would be fun to see you help families in need to find amazing inexpensive cars they never thought they could afford and help them to fix them up.
The mere fact that Hoovie cares how people might react to his content in these times .. makes him one of only very few car RU-vidrs who seem to worry for their audience. Very much appreciated. However I'd imagine the majority of viewers come for amusement and distraction for the daily routine. So it should be ok to keep going a little crazy ..
Jeremy clarkson gave an old car away in new orleans after katrina, they sued him for 20k because it wasnt the exact model he told them he was GIVING them.
@@christianbuczko1481 That's because you have to report gifts like cars to the IRS for taxes. Gifts count as income. Those people got fined for reporting it as the wrong car, registering it as the wrong car, and having an incorrect title. THAT'S why they sued.
I saw this upload a few days ago and refused to watch it at first because this is the first car that Mr. Hoovie has had on the channel that is truly a dream car for me... I have literally 100s of models, posters. brochures, even Race panels and my prized posseion of my AMG collection a single SLS Black rim mounted on my lounge wall. Well done Mr. Hoovie on all your hard work and effort it's paying off and thanks for all the entertainment... especially in 2020... I'm Australian and we started our year with devisating fires and I've been in isoloation for nearly 6 months.
I've been watching hoovie for a couple of years now, he's seems like a really genuine down to earth guy. Looking forward to what he's got in store next!
Hoovie’s latest video: Here’s this AMG I bought that’s totally not broken. Hoovie’s next video: Here’s everything that’s broken on my AMG. Wizard: *laughs in bigger yacht*
The hinges have a "shaped charge." They explode outward. Your head could literally be against the roof interior, and the charge detonating would do little more than give you a headache...
How long before we see the following from Hoovie: "I just bought the cheapest Gulfstream G550 business jet in the USA. The Air Wizard says it needs $1.2M in repairs and maintenance. Poor me!!"
What's funny is there's a ton of jets out there for bargain prices... But all the parts needing to be replaced on them? Far more than the planes are worth.
@@ab-cn7ki Thanks. It only makes sense Hoovie wouldn't buy a nice plane for his first one. He also doesn't have a good track record with a lot of his purchases. His first plane would make his K car LeBaron look like a sound investment lol.
The SLS AMG is Thanos. Buying this car was inevitable. Hoovie, your channel is a great escape from what’s going on in the world. I can’t relate to the expensive cars, but your adventures into automotive stupidity are fun to watch. Growing up in the automotive business and having my own career at the factory level made me feel rather blaze about cars for the most part. Meh, they’ll all get you to where you need to go... But the oddball car with unique features (thinking of the Previa for example) intrigues me. I never gave some vehicles a second thought, let alone the first, but seeing them through your eyes (along with some dumb Hoovie fun) is a blast! Keep up the good work and I’ll keep tuning in. 👍🏻
He's living the dream. But with a new baby, he's going to have less time for this stuff. Hope he doesn't forget about us and puts out some occasional content when he can!
I agree. I like seeing tbe 90's or mid 2000's "cheaper" cars that were special like the Buick he did. Would love to have him find an early 2000's Pontiac Bonneville SSEi if he can find one. Kind of the wolf in sheep's clothing type of cars like the Previa or whatever. No need to spend big bucks Hoovie.
@@AlexBerberian Earlier in the week I watched Doug Demuro's video on a 1991 Honda Civic. There were loads of positive comments about the video as it was a popular car people could relate to that you just don't see these days. Do a Nissan Sunny Coupe and you would make my year. My daily driver for 11 years. 2100 on the road in 1995 and now just 4. www.howmanyleft.co.uk/vehicle/nissan_sunny_coupe
The numbness of living out a dream is understandable. I did that with some jobs and life experiences in the past. I've never been able to do it with cars like ive always wanted, and some injuries and other issues keep me from solid work now to facilitate that ,but it is what it is. Your channel and others like you help some of us share in your joy. But if giving back still gives you that thrill, thats a great thing, and good on you for doing it. A hooptie for many of us still brings alot of joy :3
You should talk about that or share that. I think that is something people really never realize one they are there and then do so many things to fill that numb feeling that leads to some kinds of spirals.
A friend of mine had one. He actually returned it under Lemon Law provisions. It was nothing but trouble. Last straw was when he was on the highway the air suspension failed, and when the flatbed came to get it, the angle of the lift bed was enough to trigger the door release. Literally blew the doors off while sitting still. He said he and the driver heard a bang and then the doors just fell off onto the ground.
@@jamied9109 I live in San Francisco and parked my Amg on a hill and came out an hour later and my doors were blown. Not on the ground but it was an 18k repair.
@@slimjym4396 Yes, but what's *SAD* is when you have to re-start at 40-something. Retrain and start as a rookie beside a bunch of 22 year olds'. And yet... there is no choice. You have to.
I wasn't wrong when I've subscribed to Hooptie and Wizard for a while now. I have no intention of unsubscribing. I like that you where honest and self aware but not subject yourself fakery and pondering to people. It is a business after all. I'm glad I'm having fun watching you guys.
You're a good man, Tyler. You're learning a great lesson that possessions ultimately don't make you happy. It's all part of growing up and having "ah ha" moments along the way.
Yep. Spoke to my family the other day who are in lockdown atm. I was going out for a simple pub meal with some guys I used to work with and they were very envious even though they usually dine out way more than we do. Amazing how even the simplest thing can look incredibly good when you can't have it any more. How many wake up to that fact when it is too late to do anything about it?
Congrats Hoovie, that's a beautiful car. I loved seeing these Mercedes SLS AMG come out in the early 2010's. Owning one would definitely a dream to own one. I'm glad to hear you're looking to share your love for cars and keeping older cars running by sharing the joy of new ownership with more deserving people. You've built a great platform through hard work, perseverance, and a great group of people that support you.
You did good, Hoovie. The SLS is definitely one of the best looking cars period. Not just for Mercedes, but regarding all cars. It's so pretty, and I think the new AMG GT is a bloated, step backwards of a design.
Ok Hoovie, I just stumbled in this. Can I have thide goosebumps in your stead? Congrats on the car and I think I spotted some goosebumps when that tail kicked out, good on you! 👍 I enjoyed this.
Don't you dare quit making videos, I watch every video you put out and you're the only channel I do that with, no one else do I watch everything they put out, always excited/curious what car you will get next. I guess it could be more fun if you started buying cheaper cars again but I'm happy to watch regardless if you buy a 3-cyl Geo Metro or your dream M-B 300SL Gullwing, keep making them and I'll keep watching them
This was the first video (and I have watched them all) where I thought, this channel is no longer about hoopties. Props to the acknowledgement on recognizing that at the end, Tyler. Your timing was perfect. But still, it seems your success (congrats!) as a youtube creator has carried you pasted were your viewers invested that interest. I'll continue watching if your continued direction remains down to Earth.
Looking forward to more videos of you giving back, those were fun to watch as well. Just don't stop buying odd ball hoopties, those are the best videos
Awesome at the 13.00 minute mark - your humility and logical reasoning on your feelings was one of the highlights of all the videos you've made. I think only people who have been successful in whatever field they are in, whether it be intellectually or in business will understand 'that point' you get to. Let's see what Hoovie mk2 (? or 3 or 4 ??) can bring :)
Keep going buddy !! You are funny very lucky person ti get to do what your passion is, keep us entertained in the process!! And the 2 door s class is my dream car ,can't wait to see it fully operational in your channel
I’ve always love the SLS AMG. You can’t deny this: THAT IS A BEAUTIFUL CAR. Very handsome with beautiful lines and an imposing character. Gorgeous, one day I will buy one. Congratulations Tyler!!!!
Constitutionalist Libertarian now that’s taking it beyond the bounds of credibility 😂. We’re yet to discover whether it’ll go the way of the RR powered truck or the diesel land yacht!
In June we had a big storm that caused a tree to fall and total my baby. The Challenger I loved for 9 years. Due to everything going on in the world, I was unable to get a replacement. Now I’m using a loner car (a pink 96 mercury cougar that runs horrible). Though I’m in a tight spot, I still love your videos and your car collection. And I’m always sad to see you sell a car. I know it’s not possible to keep them all, but don’t change too much. We love your videos and use them as a way to escape the crappy world as it is. I don’t know any of us who wouldn’t love to do what you been doing! Keep up the great work!
Great video about one of my absolute dream cars - I have a similar background-story about that, as when my dad picked up his 260E in 1987 I was there with him at the age of 4 .... I have to say I don't remember much (nearly nothing) from my time before turning 6 but I will always remember when the sales guy opened the wing-doors and allowed my dad to place me in the drivers seat of the 300SL. Never. One of the reasons I still have my sturdy old a208 (only as 320 but the MOPF version with revised transmission) that I got to 277k km (~170k miles). I just love this type of design, sound, comfort and everything (and it was affordable. I could never dream about spending that much as you do, but I'm glad some enthusiasts like you exist and share your stories and excitement with us :) ). Even though you lost a bit of the excitement, I'm still glad you did this episode and made me excited about this absolute lovely design/sound/everything all over again :). Greetings from Munich :D
When a good person realizes their dream , their next logical thought is how to help others realize theirs too. After all, we're all on this big spinning ball together.
@chris younts Not particularly. It's a noble fantasy, but at the end of it someone has to tell them how to operate. Human biases are irrevocable, and unable to be divorced from the process of telling something how to think. You aren't unique or special or unbiased. You may think your biases are more justified, but, so does everyone else when asked to appraise their own.
You've officially reached the point where you're so rich that only making other people happy with your charity and seeing their serotonin release gives you one. Thats definetely a life goal. I started off rich-hating your channel but the more I realize how much you alone help the economy and all the people around you changed my view entirely. Wizard has a nice boat for his family to enjoy because of you and thats just the 1st example of many I could think of from my short time watching a few of your videos.
Alright Hoovie I know this vid is a year old now but I just want to say this is my favorite car that you own, your content got my desire reignited back into cars. Hopefully the new SL you just saw is good and am so excited for that reveal from Merc. Current desire is to knock out the rest of college and get to buying an E63 wagon so got a ways to go. MAKE MORE SLS CONTENT.
That's what it must feel when rich people already have everything they want... Any new purchase is just meh... And that's a great lesson for us all... Buying and having cool nice things is awesome... But it can't be the reason of one's life!
When someone buys things to show off - to hell with them. When someone does well and buys things to share how cool they are - that's different. When someone talks about giving back after he/she's done well - that's even better.
I’ve admired some of your car purchases. Been envious of a few, but until now, I haven’t been outright jealous!! But since I like your channel(a lot), I’m happy for you! 😬
@@lastfewtokes To be fair most of his cash is probably tied up in investments and not liquid to spend, but I'm sure he could loosen up $1 million if he tried. You don't own multiple Lambos, Ferraris, Bentleys, Rolls Royce and Mercedes if you aren't at least worth $1m :D
I love when you buy old weird crappy cars that have a cool interesting story. Especially cause you always make good skits out of them. the videos of you giving stuff away Mr. Beast style are also super entertaining to watch. But honestly I will watch anything you make. love the videos!
