After my 2020 F-350 superduty left us stranded with no help from ford. I've been rethinking my tow rig situation. And then this came along! It's a full size bus, with living quarters and a built in garage to tow a race car! All in one unit!

As a RV service technician, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND building a shade to store the bus under. NEVER leave food in the bus rats will eventually finish the food and then start eating the wiring. This bus is as good as it gets here, properly maintained it will last 2 million + miles (aka the rest of your life). Very good purchase!

I completly agree with @Chris0 that you really should have a cover over it to help it last. Make sure that you get up and do a full roof inspection at least once a year and wash it up there! Never leave food in the bus, I have seen the mess that they can do! 🤠👍

The car-hauler bus conversion is basically the standard for any moderately successful drifting operation here in Finland, what with basically no big pickups to tow gooseneck trailers and all the license and registration complications that come with those. With a bus you get the hauler, tools, beds and lounge space for a whole team in one convenient package. You should check some of the bus builds from this side of the pond, many of the team have RU-vid channels with English subtitles or even completely in english!

Agree 100%,, Taylor works very hard, it matters not what project he and Jose' undertake,, they give it their all and they're very meticulous with every detail. I'm guessing at least 80% of his fans are living their dreams vicariously thru Taylor which is why we enjoy watching him. I was never a fan of drift before first meeting Taylor when he helped Cleetus install an angle kit on Donnie. Still not really a fan of drift but I'm a rock solid fan of Taylor Ray and enjoy watching him do his work. Congrats Taylor on finding and purchasing the new rig. It will provide you an awesome ride to and from the tracks of the East Coast,, perhaps even to middle America and the West Coast. A word to the wise,, leave the engine and running gear as it is. You'll find it will give you hundreds of thousands of relatively trouble free travel if you keep up on the service and inspect tires, brakes, fluids etc, frequently. You'll enjoy learning what you can and cannot do with that BIG coach in due time.

Killer setup! A moped or a small motorcycle like a dual sport would be a great addition to be able to leave the track if needed. Parts run, food, supplies, etc. just hop on and go. Even if your traveling and break down, it would be something street legal as a backup. Maybe 2 so multiple people can go somewhere if you find yourselves in that situation. I'm sure you could squeeze them in the back with the car. Or get a carrier that slides in the hitch to carry one.

there's two main things to keep in mind with a bus. 1, Front and rear overhang from the axles. Keep the rear axle in mind as a pivot point, and think around that in tight spaces as you turn, and mind that you have about 10' of swinging overhang behind it, especially with the opposite rear corner from your closes pivot point (curb side, or turn side). 2, high clearance, Measure the top pf the bus (usually 11'-12') and mark it on the dashboard if not already marked and etch it into your brain and always look for bridges, low overhangs etc. It'll become second nature. Also helps if you gat a trucking or rv specific GPS that you mount in your field of view, and once set up for correct dimensions and weights it will only navigate you on good routes without low bridges or weight restrictions. As an added bonus, if you want a car to drive around look into tow-behind (toad, dinghy sometimes they're called) that can be set up to be towed behind RV's, and drag it along on that hitch. google Dinghy guide, and you'll see what can and can't be towed flat. (sorry for the long post from an ex truck, motor coach and city bus driver)

I was thinking just the same think.Easy to get caught out.Must always be mindful of that 👍
@Taylordrifts
@Taylordrifts 9 месяцев назад
Yeah the rear overhang will be something to get used to. My old gooseneck was on the shorter side so it only had about 6ft of overhang. So it wasn't much of a concern. The heigh is 12'9 with the AC's so I'll keep that in mind, and seeing as this doesn't have car play, I may as well get a truck GPS. I was considering using a small open trailer to tow another car whether it's a track car or a drive around car, but the dinghy might be simpler. Thanks for all the insight!
@attilaplays
@attilaplays 9 месяцев назад
@@Taylordrifts open trailer is easier but adds weight. It costs more to set up a fight, but being that it's a bus you could tow a pickup behind it too. It can handle it. Just gotta check the hitch rating and put in a breaking system into the pickup. The guides will help with that. Safe travels

Worked on buses for years down here in miami dade, it just getting the hang of it, the air system works extremely similar to electrical system, bunch of switches and valves. just make sure you keep the air system free of water and don't trust auto drains on the tanks

This thing is super cool! Also, you could pull a trailor with one of your dailies loaded so you don't have to sacrifice not being about to leave the track which makes this thing have zero downsides.

*IF* you can get away with running LP22.5 tires, do it but it’s most likely running, or maybe even HAS to run, 11R22.5. The LPs are easier to find in a pinch or if/when you’re in BFE. Probably runs a 1000 fuel filter and 3000 oil filter. Don’t forget about truck stops! If you ever need parts, they usually have shops and/or are open 24/7. Otherwise, looking forward to seeing what you do with this thing! 😎

I think your bus is fantastic. Well thought out. Is is dated electronically which needs updating. The only thing that jumped out at me are the Brakes. All the squeaking drove me nuts and I’m sure you too. Not sure if brake pads need replacing or what? An inspection I think is warranted. Overall I think you have a winner on your hands.

I would definitely get a hold of Tim Gentry with Gentry and Sons. He know a lot about big rig engines and hopping them up. Or maybe even JH might know some stuff. Sick rig though! Cant wait for the Fummins giveaway definitely will be entering in that!

Just got your tow setup where you wanted.. Annnd it's gone 😂 I think everyone who geeks out about whatever setup they have knows how this goes. So how long till you put it on air-ride? Best foot pedal switches are Hi/lo beams and wiper low on/off or just single wipe (IMO). The tail lift reminds me of drift games studio.. Vynal wrap the garage to a street? XD For leaving the track, couple bikes or a K car? Garage seems big enough to take the vette and something else a bit more compact Fummins givaway.. Hope your dropping lots of new merch designs, really make the most of it for yourself and the fans.

This is awesome. As for being stuck at the track without a second car - maybe if there is enough space in front of the 'vette, you could fit a little road-legal moped in there? You couldn't carry heavy parts with something like that of course, but it could be handy if you just need to go buy gaskets or fittings or food in a pinch.
@wobblysauce
@wobblysauce 10 месяцев назад
Yep, they have the electric ones, but moped for bigger distances could be handy.

That is a very cool rig. One thing you guys might consider doing is look into getting a flat towing setup for one of your other vehicles and just flat tow it behind the bus when you are only taking one car to the track. This will allow you the ability to leave the track without having to take your whole setup.
