I Bought The RAREST Keyboard In The World...

In this video I do as genuine unboxing of an extraordinary piece of keyboard history without knowing what it really is. Will this be my rock bottom or have I become the custodian of something my children will pass down to their children? Are you as foolhardy as I with your purchases, a category one consumer or are you a spec hound category two?
Join me back here on the 12th of October 17.00 GMT for the launch of pianobook v3.0 check back after then for a link to the *FREE* "Pitched Electric Celeste"

“Sounds incredible”, I was thinking it sounds shitty. Sounds like a cheap Kids xylophone from China, which is not a good place to build sounds from. But I imagine if someone is spending around £20k on a piece of rare vintage crap then people are going to romanticise. But let’s be honest, ears are still a thing - that is a very rare vintage piece of shite.

Truly an extraordinary instrument. It was a total blast watching you discover its true nature. Many of us have that "bad room" where our unfortunate equipment decisions go to die. I certainly do. However I also have a well equiped toy room and can report that for you, me and many of our friends a bad room is actually required for to have a super happy fun room.

Stoked that it worked out for you! I certainly know those terrible moments where you think you’ve made a major purchase mistake. Fortunately, it usually works out somehow, even if it wasn’t exactly what you wanted (or needed). To answer your question, I purchase when I know my upcoming gig will cover at least 50% of the cost. I often bite my nails regretting larger purchases, but it goes away once I unbox it and play around for a few hours. In the end, I’ll just say, “It brings me happiness, and happiness is worth it”. 👍🏻

The "when you get a new job" part really got me. When I got my first job, I got myself an OP-1 with the money I had saved in case I didn't get said job. Turns out I only began working a month later and needed money to get through my first month working. So in the end, I didn't have the money at all to afford the OP-1 I had bought. It has changed my life for the better, both in getting an OP-1, and in teaching me not to make such a mistake again haha.
