@brendaarrgh pleasant scent. My husband hates fruits, so he said definitely NOT fruit salad 🤣 the black tea has a light, fresh scent. Not over powering at all. Hope that helps 🙃
I'm a cosmetologist and i can tell you a cheap, cheap product that works better(doesn't smell better because it's fragrance free) and women have been using it forever. Cornstarch. Clap some between your hands and start running your hands through your hair. Repeat a few times and then brush it out of your hair. It makes it look freshly shampooed. It also stops your pets claw from bleeding if you accidently cut into the quick because your dog has midnight black claws and you can't see the quick. Yes i have accidently cut into my best friend's quick 2 times and cornstarch instantly stops the bleeding and it must stop the pain because my dog chilled right down after the cornstarch. It's good for thickening stews if you can't make a roux. I can't afford the expense of dry shampoo but I'm telling you cornstarch works better but doesn't have the fragrance added to the dry shampoos. Try it.
@@Morighan008 I think it works better too. I also think it works better for under boob sweat. If you put a little on like baby powder before you put on your bra it's pretty good about helping to absorb the moisture from your sweat keeping you dry longer on hot days. Cornstarch is your friend lol.
@AstroMartine put it in your hands a little at a time. Kind of lightly tap/rub your hands together to spread out the starch. Bend over and flip your hair upside down. Then rub the product through your hair. If you do a little at a time and apply it about 3-4 times then run your hands briskly through your hair like finger combing while still flipped over until powder stops falling out of your hair. Flip it back over and off needed brush Amy powder you can see out worth a brush or even a wide tooth comb. It will give your hair volume too.
I used Bastille and expensive brands. They work, but I have to wash my hair that night because it just feels icky after the end of the day (can always wear up if you wanted too). But it's great to get one more day out of your style
@@nettierg I use Valori the volumising one in a black bottle, it's almost not icky, if at all. nd it gives the greatest volume to my hair without making it crunchy, and it's very cheap, but, unfortunately I think it is only sold in my region, or mb a couple more countries. Btw it's quite close to the effect the cornstarch gives, but for me personally it's just more convenient to use a spray
@@DanceJems Agree, hair is different, shampoos are different and we're left with nothing else other than looking for an ideal solution for ourselves over and over again. I was just speaking generally...
Just use cornstarch. I don't use dry shampoo. I tried it while camping for a week in the mountains and hated it. I remember cornstarch being used for all kinds of things. I listened as a kid to my elders. Ponds is great for cleaning makeup off your face and then use witch hazel as an astringent. Crisco is good for severly dry skin. Salt water gargle at sign of a sore throat. Oatmeal is a great skin calmer. Put oatmeal in a sock and place it in the tub and soak in a bath.
@@sarahmk2966 I just found out you just take cornstarch and sprinkle a lil on your scalp, massage wait for few minutes then brush works like dry shampoo
Living Proof makes an awesome dry shampoo. It’s actually less expensive than the cheaper stuff from the drugstore because the can lasts 10 times as long. It smells so good too. Alternatively you can use plain cornstarch and a huge fluffy powder makeup brush to apply it. Brush through your hair and let it sit for a few minutes, and then just go to shake it out a little. You can spray perfume into the air then shake your head around in the mist. It’s almost the same result as the Living Proof but far less expensive. It just takes a bit longer.
Wait, I never used it _because_ I’m black 😂😂 I thought dry shampoo just worked better on…not my hair and, like, it doesn’t actually do anything beneficial lmao The way someone told me about it, it works kinda like putting on deodorant but not bathing beforehand; you’re still stinky, you’re just covering it up temporarily. Now I might have to actually try it. What’s a good brand
My mom is a cosmetologist and told me dry shampoo works correctly once it sits on the hair for a bit to absorb oil and then needs to be combed to remove it. So they probably sprayed it in their hair before the video and when they brush it, it "fluffs" up- because the way they're spraying it over their head would do almost nothing in terms of the product they're advertising
Exactly right. Plus, this isn't some magic brand, every brand of dry shampoo has basically the same ingredients - mostly fine starch to absorb the oil.
It totally works! We’ve used it for years in healthcare for people that are bed bound or cannot easily shower. ❤ the “shampoo” has components in it that absorb all the oil (along w/ the dirt the oil hangs onto), then you simply brush it out.
@@g.y.perelechow3587 It does work but is not a long term solution. It’s great when recovering from surgery! Now, if your hair is super dirty w/ blood in it… that will require a good washing. As far as a quick fix when you woke up late & are in a rush it’s s life saver!
@@elation.e my hair is the same as hers. I can leave it for 10 days before it gets this oily. It may be bc my hair is naturally curly, but it's usually not oily when I wash it once a week. I just have to wash out the product and redefine my curls.
@@unapologeticallyCece you nailed the secret. Especially if you have, fine, straight, blonde hair. Wash less often, it looks less greasy. Everyone saying they have greasy hair says (as I used to) "it's so greasy after 1 day of not washing it." Try only WASHING & conditioning 1-2 times a week. 🫶🏼
That's crazy. As a Black woman I dread dry hair. My hair needs all sorts of oil and moisturizer😂😂😂. If I let my hair go a week with washing it everyday my hair would be upset of all the oil stripping. It's amazing how much difference our hair is. I love learning about all hair types. It's not enough to just know your own hair. Interesting
I'm white and blonde and on the 2nd day of not washing it it's already yucky. I wish I could go 1 week without washing it and still looking fresh. Can't we all just have a midpoint please😭😭
I LOVE black womens hair I'm super jealous 😍😍 The way your hair does soo many things like the twists then the next day box braids then maybe a wig dreads plats and so on. White hair depending won't even stay in a braid. I have a weird type hair it's frizzy and kinda curly it knots all the time but I wait until my hair is starting to feel oily to wash it so maybe once a week I'll wash my hair it's actually bad to wash it too much bc the shampoos strip all the natural moisture out. Then I straighten it and then it's smooth and silky easy to deal w hardly knots or anything. Makes no sense to me. I have a niece who has beautiful biracial babies and their hair is completely opposite from one another. I have to say I've learned a lot about taking care of different hair textures from those wee ones I had no clue either haha I didn't know about all the products you have to use types of brushes even and just how important shrinkage is baby haha
ikr! I watched a lot of videos of bleck women taking care of their hair bc i was so fascinated. On one hand you dont' have to shampoo her every other day, but on the other it looks like so much work just to shampoo e moisturise. Amazing!
Anyone who has used dry shampoo before knows that most of them leave white in your hair and they can also leave your hair feeling stiff and/or powdery. Not ideal at best. This one does not appear to do that. Some of you on the internet are just insanely negative lmao
Oh then stop showering so much. Your scalp is over producing because it’s trying to keep up with you stripping away all the oil from showering every day. I know it sucks to go with oily hair, but try to delay it by a day and after a week or two, add another extra day in there and work up to only washing your hair once every 5-7 days. You’ll have the same results as her then.
I was the same like you girls but i kinda let my hair get into shampoo rehab. Turns out to much shampoo makes oily so we keep washing our hair! Smart move from marketing with the daily shampoos. How did i let my hair rehab? On home days i let it be oily and stretch the days between washing bit by bit. Also washing with only water rinses out a lot aswell. When i talk about washing now i mean with shampoo but back them even only water washing helped to stretch it one more day
@@Val-vg6df No, it actually isn't lmao. Terrible hair is unhealthy hair. Her's is long, lovely, healthy, shiny, and looks very silky ... you may prefer a different length but her hair, itself, is something to be proud of because it's quite evident that she takes very good care of maintaining it's health, which too many ppl DON'T do, of all lengths.
It’s important to note, the models have bangs or face-framing pieces that are thinner, making it look more oily due to the length of those pieces…so the dry-shampoo will look like it helps dramatically because those pieces will visibly absorb more than the rest of the head with longer hair. It didn’t look as dramatic because she didn’t have those other shorter pieces.
it’s hairspray. they spray it on their hair to make it look oily when in reality it’s actually super shiny and hard but appears oily and greasy. that’s why when they brush it out it gets fluffy again
You can see at the roots of her hair, it lays down flat and has no volume before she uses the product. After usage, her part fluffed about three inches. It does not matter the length of the hair, please don't be ridiculous. It removed a lot of oils from her hair and volumized it, it works
Thank you for this, I am so sick of spending money on dry shampoo that doesn’t work. I will try this based on your video. ✌️🇨🇦 You have just earned another subbie.
dry shampoo is literally just dry starch that absorbs water and oil you brush away. also it has been around for 10 years + on the consumer market and many more if you looked for it. It also dries up your scalp and make white flakes if you apply too much, esp for this length of hair. There are also no-wash shampoo foam/mousse that work better
Editorial stylist here.. Dry shampoo is wonderful for volume once in a while. DO NOT use it daily, especially if you only wash your hair once a week or less. It will suffocate the hair follicle and slowly make your hair thin and fall out. You have to double wash with a good sulfate free salon shampoo every time you use a dry shampoo to get all of it off the scalp!!! Same as hair growth oils. Great for a few hours BUT need washed out daily with gentle sulfate free salon quality shampoo to help your hair follicles stay healthy and happy!
Thank you for sharing this. I was suspicious my recent hair fall was because of using a lot of dry shampoo for 2 days straight at a time. I'm going to use less for a month and see what happens.
When you say "hair growth oil" do you mean rosemary oil? I'm using that daily to help encourage regrowth after a bout of hair loss caused by menopause. But I don't want to wash my hair daily. I only wash my hair twice a week. Is that a problem with that type of oil?
I don’t think that they were saying that _this_ particular product was shady, just that TikTok is flooded with shady products that make dubious claims.
"Batiste's parent company, Church & Dwight, will settle a $2.5 million class action lawsuit that claims that their dry shampoo products, including Batiste Bare, Clean, and Light Bare, contain cancer-causing benzene in harmful amounts. People who bought these products before May 30, 2023, might qualify for compensation". I googlied
i did this before until i actually dealt with this in detail and found out that you should wash out your dry shampoo the same day you use it and therefore you are not supposed to put it in before bed. it might actually damage and dry out your scalp
I can guarantee it's real and very convenient, although i can't speak for every brand i know most of them (atleast the ones ive used) work extremely well
All dry shampoo works like this. Not only dry shampoo but also talcum powder, corn starch, even loose face powder in the right shade works. Just make sure to brush or gently rub your scalp and hair thoroughly to make sure it gets distributed correctly so you can’t see the powder.
Talc is your friend if you have lighter to medium coloured hair, nothing works as well for me and my hair is usually already greasy by day 3. It works especially well if you use it the night before your hair looks greasy so I use it night 2 and 3 and then wash it the next day so I am not washing out my hair dye. I just want to see these people an hour later because with every dry shampoo spray I have used it after 15 minutes my hair looks greasy again.
I usually baby powder just bc my mom always keeps it around and it works the same too but idk if there’s any like hazards since it has some chemicals in it.
@@Alexardelean89It’s super messy and on dark hair it looks powdery. You can mix with cocoa powder to darken it but if you sweat you smell like Swiss Miss hot chocolate powder and it’s weird lmao. Plus it gets on dark clothes. I’ll do it if I run out of dry shampoo but I wouldn’t go back to regularly using it
@@victorconcepcion9678so wouldn’t you want to be more weary on what you consume? Im so tired of hearing this line regurgitated, you don’t have to accept it and be so passive about your literal vessel of life being destroyed.
You’re over washing your hair you’ve trained your scalp to produce oil at a much more rapid rate than it was supposed to… think about it when you strip all the oils off of your skin what does it do? it goes into overdrive trying to replace the oil your skin once had thus causing over production of oil 💯 it takes some time but you can retrain your skin. I’ve done it and it was annoying to keep not washing my hair when I felt so oily but has been worth it for the results.. start small - go as long as you can without washing your hair then once you wash it, push the shampoo n between time out another day… then keep going until you’re at the two week mark or as far out as you can get it😅 I promise it works I’ve got mine trained to about a week - week and a half now ❤
For the people who don’t know what the hell just happened, well basically the stuff that sprayed out reacted with the oil on your hair and took the oil off. But please don’t just buy it and never wash your hair again, using it too much is obviously bad for your hair
dry shampoo is an absolute blessing if you're really late and can't wash your hair. doesn't always look perfect but with some brushing it works wonders. you can also make a homemade version i think; i used to use corn starch on occasion if i was out and my hair wasn't extremely dirty / just had gotten flat and i didn't have anything else. such a lifesaver in college though. waking up with half my hair greasy because it touched my face in my sleep sucked for me
FYI, talc is related to certain cancers!! My coworker taught me (a brunette) to scrub coffee grounds (dry ones) into my scalp and roots, and omg it works amazingly! Definitely messy and time-consuming, though. But it’s great for anyone who wants a “natural” or non-aerosolized version of dry shampoo, and for brunettes and dirty blondes.
then you need to stop washing it every day. washing your hair too much can throw off your scalp's microbiome, which can let bad bacteria and fungi take over and cause things like inflammation, it basically strips the hair so your scalp then over produces the oils.
My son had the same issue and just pushed through starting every other day then skipping 2 days. He was making extra oils because he was washing it too much . Just something to think about!
Same, some do a good or not so good job based on different hair types but I literally know for myself 4 different brands who work the same. People go viral over everything these days
If you don’t want the spray, there is a dry shampoo bottle that you just put in your hair, it’s like putting shampoo in your hair but dry shampoo, you don’t need wet her or anything, you just apply it into your hair and then rub it in
@@just_.b. of course. No product works for every person. I never implied it did. I just think getting all worked up about a dry shampoo was just a bit too dramatic... In MY opinion. That's all. Why can nobody comment shit without making trivial comments. "Well, you did Jamie". Yes, but I never left any of my opinions underneath other people's comments. Sheesh.
This! And I actually spent months "training" it to last longer, ie going a week or longer between washes. I literally managed to go from 2 days to 3 days before it is just nasty oily mess 😢
Thank you! I was trying to find out what the down falls were. Nothing’s perfect and I’m glad I found this because I can’t afford anymore problems or I’m definitely going to go bald 👨🦲 🤦♀️
When you pulled your hair back at the end you could really tell it worked🙌 with dark hair you can always tell when I haven’t washed it when I try to wear it up😂
it's not common where i live 🥹 it's a common practice to believe that showering/washing hair more = better hair better life so most people just take showers in the morning and evenings with no need for dry shampoo. also attributed to scorching weather
was homeless for a few years while working a minimum wage job. Dry Shampoo was a godsend. That and baby wipes (or non-alcoholic wipes) and you'll look/feel/smell presentable. But don't solely rely on it, it's only good for a bit. you'll still need to wash you hair at some point.
When I was homeless, I used to use the free cold showers at the beach aha also if you can at least afford a cheap gym ($8-15 per week) they also had showers to use
Try cleaning your brush. They catch a lot of oils and after some time will redistribute the oils back into your hair and makes dry shampoos cease to work. Just cleaned mine and it helped a lot.
Try spraying the dry shampoo in your hair on day 2 hair before it even gets oily. Or even day 1. Dry shampoo was originally designed to use on clean hair to prevent oil before its there. You get light weight longivity
I use it the night before my hair gets oily and let my movement during sleep work it in. If I apply dry shampoo to greasy hair, it just clumps up. Applying it to clean hair prevents the grease
You should hold it 8-10 inches from scalp. I actually use it after I wash my hair and dry it. My hair doesn’t look greasy until the 4th day. I also let it sit for 10 minutes to absorb before I brush it out. I use it after I dry my hair because it gives me tones of volume and I have fine hair.
Cornstarch is the best for oily hair, and it's dirt cheap and not full of chemicals. I just take a fluffy brush and pat it on the oily parts, let it sit for a couple minutes, then brush it out.
Omg this is what i was thinking, im like yep thats why i use it daily and can go weeks without washing my hair... so ya dry shampoo bein dry shampoo😂 this is how its supposed to work yall. Ps if u want a non airesol one. "Best fucking hair day" is a small company that makes one that works well and has no chemicals in it. I personally like it.
Just be prepared to need to shower the next day. Dry shampoo typically makes your hair look and feel even worse the next day. But, if you've got long hair and you must be somewhere in a hurry then it can be an absolute life saver.
It definitely seems to depend on which dry shampoo you're using. I tried several brands, and only one really does a good job without leaving my hair feeling sticky and gross which is Batista. I've also mixed up my own which works in a pinch, but I don't love the method of application with that. Anyway, dry shampoo actually does work to clean the hair. The powder binds to grease, dead skin, and dirt which you then brush out. It's very common in arid areas to clean with sand versus wasting water that is in precious supply.
I love that we’re moving more towards washing our hair less and not shaming people or calling them dirty if you don’t wash it everyday. I hated that, as someone with thick curly hair. You were always made to feel like it was Gros if you went more than 2 days without washing it. I’m glad people are waking up now to the benefits of washing your hair less and letting it be.
I’m so lazy, especially with the summer coming, I’ll wash my hair once a week, and stretch it more if possible. If I don’t sweat, and wear it up, it’s not even noticeable.
I got that thick hair as well & I wash it once a week. Save shampoo & keep the natural oils in the hair (not over oily) my poor kid though hers gets oily the next day after wash so I was like dry shampoo here we come, lol
I agree and disagree... different hair types will require washing after a different amount of time. Once it gets greasy like that you need to wash your scalp, adding more product is only increase clogging of your roots wich may lead to hair loss. People who need to wash their hair daily are probably not properly cleaning their scalp, you gotta really get there and scrub scrub scrub. Like they would do in a salon. Dry shampoo can be a life saver on an emergency but I'd be weary of using it regularly between washes.
I have curly hair and I go At least a week sometimes too because my hair is dry so if I don't go that long it gets even drier and becomes more brittle. Now that I've moved to a drier climate I wash it even less. I don't usually have an oily hair problem but when I have, I've just used baby powder and gotten the exact same effect.
I have really thick but shiny, not fluffy hair. I never have trouble brushing it. As long as you are using the right brush and start from the bottom up, you shouldn't have any issues.
It absolutely sucks that most dry shampoos can cause cancer. In fact , this year alone many name brands were recalled yet most stores continued to sell them. I still use it!
Only the aerosol ones. Things like wheat starch, potato starch, and rice powder have been used for centuries as dry shampoo. Corn starch works well too. It was often scented and even colored! You apply it with a fluffy powder puff (fluffy makeup brushes work well too), and brush it through.
A word of caution: a lot of dry shampoos (as well as some sunscreens, antiperspirants, and hand sanitizers) have ingredients that cause cancer (specifically benzene and possibly talcum powder, which has asbestos?) and breathing them excessively in the enclosed space of your bathroom never helps. (It can also cause other issues like hair loss by clogging hair follicles.) Be careful and stay safe ❤ Edit: Yeah having it on your scalp is also bad, and there are probably brands that don't use those specific ingredients, but that's research for y'all to do. Once again, be careful and stay safe Second Edit: All info in (parentheses) is from the replies. Thank y'all for the specifics :)
Your hair is SUPPOSED to be oily !!!! "Your hair is so oily...use this product. Oh, your hair is now to dry ?! You this product with oil...." Whoever reads this, don't fall in the cosmetics marketing trap !!!
@@iLitAfuseiCantStop ok batiste is not expensive as far as dry shampoos go but it is good. It’s not a high absorption product I feel like though so it takes way more product than others. When I buy batiste vs something like IGK (expensive like ow when you have to repurchase 😭😭😭) I buy it two to three times as often. One IGK charcoal detox lasts 2-3 MONTHS and I repurchase Batiste, the big bottles, minimum once every 6 weeks.
