I have fished several weeks with a couple of these, and I will be getting more in the future. I put these against my Abu Garcia Pro Max reel, and they actually perform a bit better than the Abu with some of my lighter cranks, and definitely just as good with the rest of my lures. My Abu is a bit more low profile and fits my hand better, but these are definitely not bad at all. You can almost get 3 of these for the price of my Pro Max. My only complaint is the thumb bar sits pretty high compared to my traditional profile Abu. Bring that thumb bar down a little and I’m sold on these all day long.

The spool tension knob is a zero adjuster. It's designed to be difficult to turn because it's set that way from the factory, however you can adjust it to your preference. Great reel btw!! Hope you enjoy it! Next purchase should be a bfs reel. Most fun throwing light baits down to a gram in weight.

So with daiwas the tension knob is preset by the factory and if you adjust it they make noise when you cast them. That feature is only on the more expensive and newer diawas

The spool tension is like that because diawa pre set's their bait casters for it to cast and be perfect it's not meant to be messed with.

With Daiwa’s cast control system you don’t need to alter it. It’s already set before you buy it by their team

Megabass makes a 1k reel and shimano makes the Antares DC MD XG which msrp is 730 and after taxes and stuff its like 800

So, from what I've been told, the tension know is like that because the tension is set from the factory and your not supposed to change it. Now if that's true or not I don't know.

The most expensive bait caster from Shimano would be the Antares dc I believe. Here in Japan the msrp is 77000 jpy which is about just under 700usd. They retail for 62000 jpy which is about 560usd.

Hey norm the reason it doesn’t backlash is the because it has an air braking system all the diawas have that but that one has an upgraded spool and air brakes compared to all the other diawas

Norm for a challenge video y'all should try fishing with ester line, Varivas makes some you can get in the US. Its only available in like 2.3lbs test and below and is crazy sensitive and also snaps incredibly easy, youre supposed to fish it with a fluoro leader to absorb shock, could be a damn funny video if one of the guys doesnt know what line it is lol

OK, aircraft have T6 7075 aluminum which is regular ole' aluminum. Ar-15's are made with that too. It's a tougher type of aluminum. I'm no aluminum specialist but I see it all over.

The tension knob is not meant to be mettled with buddy! daiwa says that the reels come pre tuned for the most optimum and don't really have to be tuned!

Don’t touch the adjuster!!!! Daiwa sends it pre set that’s why it’s hard to reach. It’s called a zero adjuster... all you have to do is adjust with the bakes on the side and that’s it

That tension knob is set from the factory by Daiwa so you shouldn't have to mess with it when switching baits, only the brakes. That being said the Steez CT SV is a monster. I'd love to have one eventually.

Shimano 21 Antares DC XG $750.00 there are a couple electric reels from both shimano and daiwa that are more than $1200.00 the most expensive I ever could afford is the abu Garcia zeta combo for 300$
