I Bought "With Fire & Sword" | Worth it? 

Back in maybe 2016-2018 the multiplayer scene was really great. It was very niche with lots of people who knew each other and were great at combat. It was crazy fun.

I bought Fire and Sword forever ago, for very cheap, and enjoyed it immensely for the different armor and setting but it's so true that it's basically been replaced by mods. Still makes a good video!

As a bit of history, WFaS was not an addon for Warband, but for the original Mount&Blade. It was only later ported to Warband's version of the engine, I believe. And, if I remember correctly, it, just like Viking Conquest, was made by a team of modders with assist from TW. The same team(or at least a team from the same community) was responsible for a Medieval 2 Total War mods Call of Warhammer and With Fire and Sword, which, I think, sourced some assets from M&B WFaS.

This was my first Mount & Blade game funnily enough. Remember having a ton of fun and finally caving to get Warband from this

Its a neat expansion, not something i play much but its a really nice standalone experience, the lack of feasts kinda kills it a bit for me though.

It really matters what youre looking for. Like any game, its only enjoyable if you at least try to enjoy it. I find its immensly different from warband, the recruiting system is better being one. But hey, if its not your cup of tea dont get it 🤷‍♂️

4:55 that’s not entirely right, if you are a mercenary/vassal to the faction you can just go to any friendly town/castle which has a desirable commander which trains those units and just pay the commander some money to train them for you after a few days, you don’t need to own a town and get commander by your own Still the game play is very cheap on sales and should definitely consider buying it then, and there’s also a mod which lets you start your own kingdom and overhauls the recruitment, allowing you to recruit from villages too if you don’t like the story/recruitment system

Firearms were around before WFAS, they were in the base game files but disabled. WFAS added new animations for them and I think options in the engine to swap crossbows into pistols as a separate weapon type. I think WFAS was the first to add overhead stabs with spears as an actual thrust attack though

Nice. I only played wfas for a few hours dueling a friend in multiplayer so while I cannot speak for the expansion itself, I must say I'm a big fan of it's author who is very friendly and supportive of modders in general, being very open in terms of permissions of using his assets.

Thank god someone actually talked about this game. Hope they make something like this in bannerlords engine

My first Mb game. I discovered him after playing Age of Empires 3, after playing it for some time I got to know Warband and then Floris modpack.

The first mount and blade game i ever played but I didn't play it for much time as I soon discovered warband, although initially had some fun playing the English civil war mod but it got boring after some time

I forgot how but I got fire and sword for free, I think it was a Warband deal where I got the original (never cared to play it tbh) Warband (obviously) Viking conquest and fire and sword for a bit less than just Warband. All are amazing and I love the setting of this, and charging with 80 winged hussars vs 200 enemies and winning is very satisfying to me

loved this game back in the day. The unusual time period (for games atleast) made this game stand out a lot for me. Its probably my favourite MaB game. Vikings would be close behind it.

Have you ever tried blood and gold Caribbean? I just got it and so far I'm loving it!

I own it, but I've never played it. I made my own personal overhaul mod in Warband that had firearms in it, one of the major units for one of the factions I made was basically a complete rip off of the Black Riders from AoE3, and yes they were the most OP unit of all factions. I never released the full mod, but I'm pretty sure I released some scripts on the forums back in the day. At this point though, Bannerlord exists, so odds I'll even go back to Warband ever are slim to none. I'll enjoy all the great mods that get made for Bannerlord, and at some point hopefully have time to make my own complete overhaul/total conversion.

The multiplayer in the cream on the top, me and my friends have spent countless hours sparring and trying the equipment (grenade, double pistols etc). The singleplayer is kinda lacking after some times the map becomes a mess and the mainline stories crash.

I have played WFaS a lot, especially with Csatadi's overhaul mod and the English Civil War mod. I like the pike and shot gameplay a lot. I'm a big fan of the books, but unfortunately the dialogues and quests do not capture that atmosphere as well the troop types and sceneries.

For 2,50€ is the best game you can play!

imo it's pretty cool ( i like the story and setting ) but the fact you cant really start your kingdom officially makes it a bit

unfortunatly there is very few games set in 16th or 17th century pike and shot era so i play this game

it just feels like a warband mod which is paid

im thinking of getting the steam mount and balde legacy edition! should i buy it? It comes with mount and blade, warband and fire and sword for 10.55 euro should i buy it? Or should i resolve to getting warband or the original mount and blade by themselves or warband by itself etc etc?

I remember playing back in maybe 2015/16 and raiding villages was a pain cause these peasants would come out guns blazing and kill veteran troops

Who brought it because of the movie I'm surprised no one has mentioned it yet

The amount of content you get for so cheap is HUGE. Comparing book/historical title to mods which add giant monsters etc is a little dumb in my opinion.

I resented this game so much (for single player at least)- Literally removes the necessities from Warband and just make things ridiculously harder for nothing (recruiting, making money, being independent, etc) literally due to the nature of how the game is supposed to go- You basically had no choice but to join a faction either way and do the storylines when the event triggers. Battles and Sieges can go from ez or one-sided really fxxking fast. Depending on which faction your serve or fight against- You'll be lucky if you can try to survive for 5 mins till you get aimbot sniped from a far distance. One redeeming quality that this dlc would have is multiplayer. Sieges, Battles, and even Bot Survival for multiplayer is what literally kept this dlc afloat. Heck idk if the Bot Survival server still exists for WFAS- I had a lot of fun commanding troops fighting against a massive bot horde during WFAS heydays. Those are the days I will say I will never forget having a good time with this dlc. Otherwise- This game is garbage 100%
