Russian bear translation: “I almost froze to death while I was going over the huge icy mountain pass, it was something which I only barely survived! Barely!” And he laughs at the bad pun
One of the most underrated films ever. I love it so much! Its topic is the relationship between siblings before Elsa and Anna even existed as the big famous Disney siblings. And then there's the music by Phil Collins and those breathtaking landscape drawings ... perfection in one movie!!
damn, that never happened with mine. I mean my brother eventually became nicer to me over the years, still rough in a supportive way, but when youre supportively rough all the time it drives you up the fucking walls after a while
The song that is sung by the Spirits when they turn Kenai into a bear is in Inupiaq, an Inuit language. When you know what they're singing, it puts the story into a fresh light. "Come with me, I'll take you now To a place that you fear For no reason why Your heart has turned away from me But I will make you understand Everything will become clear to you When you see things through Another's eyes. Everything will become clear to you Whatever is meant for you You will find Come with me, I'll take you there To a place where you'll see Everything you need To be the one you need to be And all of those things That you fear Will disappear From you In time Everything will become clear to you When you see things through Another's eyes Everything will be one clear to you Whatever's meant for you You will find." It becomes clear... at Sitka's request, the Spirits are guiding Kenai into learning how to follow his totem, because he had lost himself so badly in his rage and grief. It was no coincidence the spirits departed just before Denahi arrived and saw... Kenai needed to know what his vengeful hunt had been like through the bear's eyes so he could truly understand how badly he had lost his way. They were never angry, only sad for him.
That is so beautiful. I don't have a set religion but I practice more Native American styled beliefs, and I believe that there is something greater out there. I was saying Great Spirits before I even knew that's what most tribes called them. Either The Great Spirit (singular) or Great Spirits (plural). I have always had a connection to nature and the earth. I truly believe humans are not above animals. We all share this world together. And just because animals don't feel emotions like we do doesn't make their lives and experiences any less valid than our own. Who says that the way we feel things is "the correct" or "only way" to feel emotions. A lot of animals are a lot more intelligent than most people think. More and more studies are coming out about all these different animals and it's showing that they have feelings of their own and are smart. I also love this movie because it shows Native American culture in a beautiful light. Not many shows or movies show accurate depictions of our culture. And I don't follow a set religion but I am leaning into Native American beliefs and have been practicing for awhile and this movie is the closest thing I have seen that shows my beliefs back to me. My favorite scene is when Kenai kills the bear and then the Great Spirits come down and when the water opens up you see all the spirits and the essence of nature following towards you. It's one of the only times I have seen my beliefs reflected back at me. So beautiful. Edit: I am Cherokee on my father's side. You can't tell whatsoever because I am pale and have auburn red hair, but my great grandmother was full blooded Cherokee and my Great Grandfather was half. My Grandpa was more than half and my dad is a little under 50%. So I don't have much but it still flows in my blood and I find it beautiful that even though it's very little it can still be traced back thousands of years.
Funny thing is, disney was aiming for this movie to be as rememberable as Lion King and possibly just as good, so basically they were trying to create another Lion King
My 2 favorite Disney movies!! I have a tattoo of the bear totum & one of a lion king quote & my dogs name is koda. Such beautiful movies so close to my heart 🥺
My sister and I watched this with my dad. It was my dads first viewing so at the moment when the plot twist occurred we watched our dads reaction. You could see the realisation hit him in seconds
Vastly underrated movie, but so good. I just crack up when you hear the bear yell in the distance, "Stop telling everybody I'm dead!". So many funny moments to offset the downs, beautiful animation, just a well-rounded, great movie.
Fun fact! The movie switching to wide screen when it does is on purpose to show the fact kenai's world view has been expanded. Subtle but effective when you realize it😊
Spirit, Brother Bear, and The Iron Giant were some of my favourite animated films growing up. I have the entire soundtrack from Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron on iTunes, and I listen to it on my own time like any other music. Seriously, the Spirit soundtrack is one of my favourites.
This movie breaks my heart all over again. I've lost both my grandparents, both my parents (R.I.P. Mom), and about half my family. All due to cancer, old age, and most of them (Mom) I didn't get to say goodbye. Cherish the ones you love, and even in moments of anger/grief say " I love you" as it could be your last words to someone. #forallthosewhoaregone
As a child, I didn't reconize his voice in the french version because he sings in french (idem for Tarzan) even if his voice was familiar. Now as an adult, I understand why.
I was 17 when I lost my mom. She passed back in 2011 :( I didn't have enough time with her, and I regret many things. Please make sure you tell your mom or dad you love them, one day they will not be here to send you memes and cringy videos. Appreciate it before its gone.
This movie hit a core with me because I always connected to brotherhood and comrades. I never had a blood brother, but my friends take that spot and became family. To see a Disney movie not include romance and focus solely on brotherhood and comrades was the perfect movie for me.
@@Movietuff I used to eat a lot of beef and red meat, but I hardly do a anymore. Especially after hearing that overeating it can lead to certain cancers Only meat I have anymore is chicken and salmon. And that’s only a couple times a week at most
Tenana is the one who goes to the spirits to get new totems, so I see it as she can communicate with the spirits, hence why she knows Kenai is a bear ^^
21:15 the way I see it, *our existence comes at a price* , as all things do, so some sacrifices have to be made for us to live on. that being said, its important to remember to only take what we need and thank the food that gave up its life for us to continue ours but thats just me
Ever since my dad died watching family members die in shows and movies actually really hurts. (I found him so when they find the body too it makes it worse)
14:00 I think I've gone back there three times now. Just how you get so into the song it's making me SOOOO happy. I had a really rough couple of days and this is exactly what I needed. Thank you. SOO much.
21:30 difference in my mind is that kenai was just trying to kill the bear he had no intention of eating it whereas the bears are eating the fish to survive
Your observation on how animals have families makes me love your channel even more Dillon! You have such an empathic heart! Also I love your humor! Thanks for being such an amazing refreshing influence on RU-vid!
Well there are supposed to be 4 main types of love, I think. Romantic/erotic love, love for your friends, love for your family and love for people in general/mankind.
I'd say romantic and erotic love are two different things. One is based on being attracted to a person because of their personality and the other is physical attraction. Or at least that's what I personally interpret it as. I'm aroace, so I don't really know either way. I appreciate that the concept of there being different kinds of valid love is being spread further lately. lots of validation us aromantic and/or asexual folks!
@@Lilafly As a fellow aro/ace, I kind of agree. Those 4 types (eros, philia, storge and agape) come from ancient Greece, I believe? They could use some updates, especialy eros. I could kind of imagine myself in a nonsexual romantic relationship down the line, when I'm old, lol (not seeking it for now). But then again, I couldnt picture myself in a sexual relationship without feeling something deeper, so what do I know 😄
You should react to The Jungle Book(animation) Robin Hood Peter Pan 101 Dalmatians Bambi The Fox and The Hound The Aristocats Ice Age The Rescuers Beauty and The Beast Home Alone(the first one) The Land Before Time Grease Where The Day Takes You Tarzan The Haunted Mansion
one of the first movies i watched with actor 'Joaquin Phoenix' plus i LOVED Tina Turners soundtrack to it. BEAUTIFUL movie 💗👌 (my favourite Joaquin Phoenix movie: Joker)
Rutt and Tukk are voiced by Canadian actors Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas who are referencing their characters the brothers Bob & Doug Mackenzie who were from the Canadian version of MadTv, SCTV where they played stereotypical canadian hockey loving hosers, they even got their own movie called Strange Brew. As a canadian i really enjoyed that reference and joke.
Brother Bear 2 is a good sequel in my opinion, although it’s not as good as the first one! The story is really good though! Also, Peter Pan and Peter Pan: Return To Neverland is one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE sequels next to Frozen 2!!
Tanana is a chaman so she can communicate with the spirits who certainly told her what happened to Kenai. It's for that she knew it was him. About bears, it's the females who are the most agressive if their cubs are in danger. By the way, Koda's painting, in the bloopers, is a real one who's in the Louvre museum. The peculiarity of this painting is that it is made in pointillism (a technique consisting of painting by making only colored dots)
Same here. Used to watch it religiously as a kid, so much I eventually wore out my VHS Granted I got the 2-Disc DVD afterwards which I still have to this day
I used to watch this film religiously since it came out when I was 8 in 3rd Grade. I eventually wore out my VHS of it and had to get the DVD which I still have today LOL Film helped me get into Phil Collins and Tina Turner as well
Rut and took are based after Canadian comedians from the late 80s who made a famous skit about life in Canada called Great White North with Bob and Doug McKenzie. The voice actors for the moose are the comedians :)
Brother Bear is one of my favourite movies, hands down! If votes here on RU-vid count for something, you must watch Pixar's "Onward". Seriously, you'll cry A LOT!
👏👏👏👏 yes one of my favourite movies on my 22th birthday 🥳. Also a few facts native from Canada Alberta Kinuso, muskwa is how you say bear in our native language Cree, moose is mooswa , rabbit is wupus, and those spirit names are true my mushum meaning grandpa was known as muskwa/bear
IMO its one of Disneys best animated movies. It just didn't get the marketing it deserved. I think it might be because it came out around the same time as all the sequels to the renaissance animated movies that were straight to vhs to keep the company alive.
Just found your channel & love your personality! It’s so nice to see someone feel how I did when watching it. Cried throughout the whole thing. You deserve more subs & views 🙌🏼
Disney classic....before the Sith takes over. Phil Collins was one of my childhood karaoke hero. Holyyyshieeeet, i just realized these animals speaks Canadian!
Talking about a specific scene, so spoilers, I guess: I can't watch the old lady abandon Tod without tears. I've tried to challenge myself to not shed a tear to that scene before, and failed. Edit: Just looked up the scene and tried the challenge again, and I don't think I lasted 10 seconds. XD
@@Ben_Kimber That has to be one of the most heartbreaking moments in any Disney film. Between the animation of the owner crying and seeing how Todd did not understand why he was being abandoned is what does it 😭
@@RYMAN1321 The thing with a lot of these sad moments is that, even if I haven't watched the movie in years, if I hear the music from a scene, the scene itself plays in my head, and I have an emotional response as if I was watching that scene. There's this one Hans Zimmer concert that I watch replays of on RU-vid that is Hollywood in Vienna 2018 The World of Hans Zimmer. I used to listen to it a lot while I worked, as it helped my productivity. However, one of the things they play in that concert is the Lion King soundtrack, including the songs from Mufasa's death scene, and the "Remember who you are" scene, so I would be doing some math work, suddenly start tearing up, and realize that I'm listening to the music from the scene where Mufasa dies. Eventually, I figured out exactly how far into the video that music plays, and would skip ahead so I wouldn't have to hear that part of it. Music can be powerful.
When someone told me that the voice actor of Kenai is none other than Joaquin Phoenix, all I can imagine is Kenai yelling out "YOU GET WHAT YOU F@#KING DESERVE!"
I'm really glad I watched this as a kid so I didn't pick up that the bear kenai killed was kodas mum, that way I got to feel the shock of when he told him,
This still breaks me to this day, I can't believe how we hurt these wonderful creatures god has created... LOVE definitely we need to spread then hate I hate HATE hearing that a cub lost it's mother or a fawn, my god can't we just show it?
yea killing for food is natural but kenais crime was killing for revenege in their culture u kill for food and u respedt the kill but never for sport or revenge also he needed learn That ither animals love aswell And not just when protecting babies bears are teritorial their act like that if u on their teritory
Likes forever ago but sorry i trauma dumped on the lion king reaction but definitely wouldn't hesitate to do this for my brother's and sister. But I really resignate with this message because it's a realistic situation where I live But it's just so cool to see
