Just for clarity for those reading....I'm meaning to where he can walk up to surface and know exactly what the car needs.

The flash and just everything about the converter makes me so happy lol. Might get it on scales and share later on. Undecided on future plans for the car.

Yeah the rpm offsets are cool. Everyone has them tho. So we set up a rpm limiter offset that is controlled by boost in advanced tables. So till we get to a given boost number the Holley raises our two step rpm by 600rpm (or whatever you want), then when it reaches the boost level you told it to, it will drop the 2 step back down to the set launch rpm.

This was the function of 3 steps back in the day.....well still today but.... this was how we used to spool big turbos back 5-6 yrs ago. It helps a ton.

He had the hydraulic roller ls record I believe. Think he claimed he was going to take the sbe 4.8 record but never did.

@@SquirrelTuned wow so you’re not on board with the whole ring gap theory huh? I’m about done building my 04 SSS and I took it all apart to gap. But always thought it’s kind of a role of the dice messing with rod bearings and re-torque etc.

@TwinTurboLsx when I started the build it was my first real build. I was in the same boat. I had more faith in the rings being fine than being able to pull it apart and put it back together without screwing something up lol. I think rings get blamed when it was a bad tune very often too. If it's 100k+ miles I'd probably run it but also wouldn't say it's a bad idea to check and gap them.

This one was on methanol. I think the cooling properties help keep me from butting the rings. I did not gap or check them so I imagine they could be on the tight side. I do feel you can do just about as much on a good race gas. My previous record pass with the fox was on 50% e85 50% c16. So a fairly low ethanol content. I ran out of fuel pump on e85. One benefit of methanol is not needing an intercooler though. You can go faster with the same amount of power being lighter of course. Also in my experience methanol makes power easier than the other fuels. Personally if it is a more mild build I go with e85. If it is more on the wild side I will go with Methanol. A large part of me sticking to those two is the price. The fuel system can be a bit more expensive. But the fuel is quite a bit cheaper than something like c16.

@Squirrel Tuned I see that even 40% ethanol content can go a long way in cooling but it's good to hear that race gas can still be a good alternative. Thank you!

@Squirrel Tuned have you ever tried VP's X98 before going methanol? I live too far away from ethanol gas stations so pails have to be ordered in. I was considering C85 as it's closest to what you had luck with before on E85...however X98 seems like it's an even better option if the fuel system is sufficient.

@@GTStuning- X98 or x85 work well too. I lived 2hr from ethanol. I had 2 55 gallon drums I would take and fill that would last me a while.

Yes sir I do have the old 16v battery I pulled out of the car. It is just heavier even considering the weight of the alternator. But that may be the way to go if we can't figure it out.

@@SquirrelTuned I can't believe what your doing with the simple 4.8!!!I am going to be swapping ls in my bmw with big turbo my car is at going to be 2600 with lean windows and I am trying what motors to do stock motor big turbo! Would you do 5.3? Or the one you have?

Who spends all that money on all those external parts that you have just to stick a 100% "stock short block" in the car. Let me guess, the ONLY mod that was done is gapped rings for boost right?

@@michealortiz3350 me apparently. Nope never gapped the rings either. All of these external parts will work with the next motor too with some minor changes.

@@marcuskaiser1730 spend more sure, but to go slower nahhhh. Just remember this, ford's don't need heads, cam, AND boost to go fast, we do it on 100% factory longblocks. BTW let me no when an LS or LT engine has gone as fast as a ford mod motor in the 1/4 mile or Mile.

Capizzi is a friend, he has the overall sbe record. I have the 4.8 record. It's currently 4.71@149. Overall record for sbe is 4.50 by Capizzi.
