I would love to see a desk or table like this but made intentionally to look like an old map. Blue for water and wood for land. This table has the look but with attention to details to make it map like. A compass in the bottom corner and some lakes, rivers, islands and maybe longitude and latitude lines. Burial wood has the look of old weathered paper and rough edges.
I love that you do this for your employees and team. Like, that's what makes people want to work harder for their employers is when you can see they care about you. This isn't a pizza day or something, this is amazing :)
Shows that when you take the time to pre-vac out the bubbles, MUCH better results. Also, you trusted your people with some of the details which makes it more of a team effort. And the fact that you did it for one of your own elevates it even more. Really nice job.

The table top is the selling point. But the LED lighting really highlights it. And honestly my favorite part is the tray organizer in the drawer so that everything can stay organized and clean. Makes working much more enjoyable and easy when things are clean.
It's refreshing to see that anothr colour other than black resin is used. Too many builders stick to black. The clear fill over blue is a stunning idea, well done. Overal the colours work brialliantly. I want one...... One of your best builds by far, thank you for sharing.
I think the table looks beautiful and if they didn't even have the orange at all it would look great especially that countertop but the orange just takes away from it
Yeah, this amount of epoxy usually gives me shivers and i can hear the scream of the wallet from other end of the house, but this one is pretty nice and least they didnt hide the amazing sides of the burl and lighting just works with this one. How ever i only use epoxy to enhance wood, like filling the missing parts to make it usable, so for me this amount is just excessive..
34:08 I think you hit a home run with this one guys!!! I would have liked to have seen what it would have looked like with the original color for the back board but the orange looks great. Can’t wait to see what you build for Chris
Beautiful and unique! Not only do you think outside the box, but you just repurpose the wood and make something nice out of it. Great job, John and your whole team!
Wow, that whole build kicks ass, I think the frame is the most underrated part. The idea to do the shallow blue epoxy pour with clear over top so you can see the burl… **chef’s kiss** I want to see Joe get his phone out of that cubby. My beefy fingers would need some cutouts in that mdf 😂
The table top is by far the best I've seen, the burl with that crystal clear epoxy is amazing. The way you made the frame draws my eye to the fact the angles on the side are not parallel and in my opinion the orange panels and frame would have looked better in black, small gripes on an otherwise beautiful desk. Another great piece of craftsmanship and so awesome you do this for your employees.
The worst part of any Sunday is knowing that by 10:00 a.m., I have an entire week to wait for the next video. That was an AWESOME build. And I say it every time... I love that you include the mistakes and di_king around. It makes it so much better to know even the great builders have their timeout moments. GREAT JOB, again.
I love this. The video altogether is great, the table looks awesome, and that blue is beautiful! I enjoyed seeing you ask questions during the design process to really get the entire process on video. Great work! Probably my favorite video from you in a while
The look is very cool. I love epoxy blue with the wood. Really nice. Though it is very limited in space. Desks especially desks for content creators must have space. Therefore the minimum width must be 60” with a minimum depth of 30”. Those dimensions are bare bone minimum. If the desk is that small the creator must have an auxiliary preferably rolling table with drawers preferably 18”W x 30”D to supplement the lack of space on desk. The auxiliary rolls to put away at end of day. Ideally the desk should be 72”W x 36”D with an aux cart that’s 18”W x 36”D. This gives the creator/operator plenty of room and freedom for the work. Plenty of room for peripherals, additional monitors when needed, etc. FYI we normally don’t use a keyboard tray. The keyboard usually sits on top of the desk. We sometimes use an 80% board with a stream deck, a separate number pad (rare), etc.
Would love to see you testing these 10-in-1 / 15-in-1 type workshop tools. Are they really worth it compared to buying a bunch of separate tools. Keep up the great content.
Recently just found your channel and this video and it has showed what you're like as a craftsman and boss. The fact you went out of your way to create this masterpiece, make sure it is absolutely flawless, do all this designing and do it for free for your employee is great. The table looks absolutely awesome.
You guys do incredible work. I'm in custom woodworking and never did epoxy yet. I'm thinking about getting into it, but I really don't have a shop to do so. That desk looks awesome. Keep up the entertainment and have a good year
My partner and i are looking to start up our own bed & breakfast, and your builds inspire me to follow my desired forest theme. Your river tables and creativity are such an inspiration. Keep up the great work.
Looks the same size to me, with way more storage space! There’s also definitely room for him to add a second (many a third if they’re smaller) monitor. More than a nice try, it’s a great final product that I would definitely be inspired to work in everyday
So much talent in one place. And fun to boot!! Only issue I would have is doing what John is thinking. The drawer insert is such a good idea. No extra clutter!!
That is awesome, I absolutely love the desk. And yes, please build a desk for Chris. I'd really like to see what kind of desk he would like you to design and build for him.
Absolutely in LOVE with the desk. I’ve always dreamed of a dining room table with wood, resin,& lights made to resemble the country of Westeros from Game of Thrones. This has that type of vibe to it. John, you hit it out of the park.
Great Looking Desk , my wife seen it and now she's making comments on howd that be great in her home office , I was saying how I'd be cool if you used the cutoffs to fill in the gaps between the metal sides of the desk , and then you did it . Very awesome job as always . Love the channel.
What an inspiring place to work. That desk is absolutely sick! The top is gorgeous, and I'm not much of an epoxy/river table guy, but that burl is beautiful. Love the orange panels. What really calms my OCD though it the organizational cutouts for all his stuff, like the keyboard, headphones, cards, etc. Really beautiful job. Thanks for taking us along.
The sesk is fantastic! 5 built a bunch of epoxy tables and desks and i like that finish process with the polish. And of course, the buckeye burl is fantastic
I love it. The color of the blue and the type of wood definitely match. I think with the drawer font, you should have done a few pieces of that wood and epoxy to make the look that it continues to that point. I think this is one of the best ones that you have done. Awesome job gents
This is gorgeous. The craftsmanship here is just top notch. I always walk away from your videos so inspired. Adding in those offcuts to make it look like the top is even more built into the frame was a brilliant idea. I love all of it! I don't even like the color orange yet I still would kill to have this desk.
That is a sweet looking desk and going with orange was the right call. I also like what you did with adding the pieces back in on the sides for where you cut off for the ears. I think that just finished off the table that much more that if they would have not been added back in and it would have just been the ears in the front. It is a thing of beauty and Joe should be proud to work at such a work of art every day.
Looks amazing. I love how neat and tidy everything is. Especially the bits in the drawer with their cutout slots. You should definitely make one for Chris too.
Awesome! What a gorgeous table. Besides the tabletop, those panels were just sick. What a great thing to do for Joe and yes, you should build Chris one. Another fun project to watch.
I have not seen your other projects. However, I understand how difficult this project was and the time it took to complete. This is a damn good-looking table, and anyone would be proud to own it. Outstanding job! I don't know about Chris, but you can build me one. Larry from Texas
love the burls in it this desk is wicked and could not be replicated. will be interesting to see how you guys make another desk that doesn't compete with that one for attention like they will have to be equal or it will throw everything off in there. been enjoying this channel since 2019 and it has been great to watch John grow and improve his epoxy technique.
Love this build! The table looks sick! 🤩 love how your videos include the F-ups and problem solving to fix them! Can’t wait for the next build of Chris’s desk 😉😁
I really enjoyed this video. I have to say that the desk is nice but I have to say that I like the desk alone, no metal surround or the the back. Great idea to incorporate that acrylic underneath to give better light through the epoxy & the ears on the back. One thing I would change is make it a bit longer love the burl.
This is an awesome desk and I know it's been a while but I'm sure he still loves it today. I've been getting myself into woodworking recently, a shop built by you or Backtail would be amazing.
Best looking top by far! I have two minor issues with the design but I can't do what you do so take it how you will. The plate for tech is only good for that specific tech. Those items change design and get upgraded so much faster than you would think. The other is issue I see is that there is not much room for expansion of monitors with out covering the speakers with the angled supports. You could go ultra wide single monitor but having multiple is nice for multitasking. I would love a desk top like that, amazing work like always.
looks great! I would mount the monitor to the back wall and the other monitors (speakers) to desk frame. It would free up more desk space and give a cleaner look. You can also put the mac underneath out of sight to clean it up some more aswell. I'm working on designing a desk and the frame on this is so cool it puts the basic design I had to shame
This turned out great. Love the orange with the blue. Very cool desk! I’d need two screens on my desk though but I’m sure it could work. Best table? Maybe! Keep up the good stuff John and crew. Cheers!
Desk looks amazing 🔥🔥🔥 The finished touch though is to hang the monitor off the back panel instead of it sitting on the desk and maybe swap it out for a wide screen display.
