I comment last night for the first time after finding ur channel. For ur retaining walls do u back fill them with drainage stone and a drain pipe at the bottom. Poor or no drainage is a failure of retaining walls. Ur an amazing person for the work u do

Definitely A++ for effort. I really haven't a clue about techniques but all the ingredients are more considered and sturdy than I've seen novices over here in Australia use.

I would imagine the water barrier is good to have. The wall will not be exposed to constant moisture from the soil. That wall is looking great.

you have to open the top of the bag and throw the open end inside then spin the bag as the same time that the cement mixer is spinning better option but remember to remove the bag dont let it in!!!!

On the retaining wall do not create a tunnel with wood for the pipe, just put gravel on top. The water has to drain freely to the pipe to then drain out. No blockage to the pipe.

Ooh no. Adjust your mixer opening to the top and stopp it. Then put the cement bag on top and cut it open in half bags. The cement will go down in to the mixer and you can remove the remaining bag. Pro tip: use a barrel for water storage so that you can easily fill your water bucket.

Yes I think you did the right thing with the drainage, better to be safe than sorry the hill in front of it is pretty steep so if you were to get a bad storm with a ton of rain I think it will hold up better the way you have it now, otherwise it could turn into a landslide and you would loose your precious wall!! Draining can prevent potential earth movement (dirt slides) if there is heavy rain, or a lot of water from snow melting....

I have to do the same french drainage on a retaining wall on my land , the same way as you did. Good work and the correct choice to do it. The problem is in the winter, when water freezes and expand in volume, putting pressure on the wall, which could crack and collapse. Your wall is protected now. Keep on making videos, they are very inspirational !!!!!!!!!

There probably should have been weep holes built into the bottom of the wall. Perhaps that yellow line is meant to be a drainage line, though. The wall should be backfilled with gravel for drainage.

Its Water that will push it over in the end, or water logged soil freezing, i would say the stone should be at least 80% high.

We call those cinder blocks, not bricks. Bricks just refers to the small red clay blocks used mostly for the exterior of houses.

However, perhaps how the wall has been internally filled, there are still small gaps with would effectively let water through and prevent pressure back up and heaving.

I think you have missunderstand. No one throw the hole bag inside, not the professional at least. You rest the bag on edge of the mixer. and cut it open and poor it in. Who said you just throw the hole bag in? I never ever seen some one have done that, and I have worked whit construction for many years.
