What this has taught me - Jack and Tubbo are a good duo - how to tie a 8 knot - lani is pretty (platonic) - Tubbo is adorable (as always) - Jack cannot sail, and is very weary of these situations and putting his trust and life on tubbo - Ranboo was there when he filmed the merch plug - Tubbo tipped a boat, how and why is still a question
As an actually sailor, I have never been more entertained and horrified in my life. I love it. Also what boat did you get? And how did you get it for only $50? Usually sailboats are THOUSANDS of dollars. Also good job drywalking. I have fallen into the water every time I have tried to do it. Few tips tho: 1. Don’t scull/kinetic sail unless there is no wind (don’t do it in a regatta either since it’s not allowed) 2. If the sail is luffing (looks like a flag) pull it in or head downwind (push tiller towards you) if you’re to far upwind or in irons 3. Don’t push Jack out of the boat 4. Try not to cleet the jib since the cleet is there mostly for pointing to a specific point but you aren’t the only one who does it (I do it too since I’m too lazy) 5. Establish a course beforehand 6. Keep the rudder straight unless you are fixing your course or tacking or jibing (for reference, I am a skipper but I can crew if needed) 7. If you ever want to go faster, pull in your sail, if you want to slow let it out some. If you are about to capsize from winds, let it out some (about the length from your wrist to elbow) for a 1-5 seconds, the pull it back in when the boat stabilizes. That way you still have speed and don’t capsize. 8. If you are in a race do not switch jobs halfway through (I learned this the hard way in my first regatta since my crew hated crewing) but that’s just in a race. If you were casually sailing you would be fine. It just takes too much time to do it in a race 9. Inform your crew (if you are the skipper) if you are about to tack, jibe, or round a mark or something ESSPECIALLY if you are about to roll tack. (Roll tacking is really weird and complicated so you MUST tell the crew) but keep your crew informed. If they don’t know, and they are not prepared, it could lead to capsizing from messing up weight shifting, getting caught on a mark, (if you are doing course with marks) or a major speed disadvantage. 10. Keep a bailer with you. Even if your boat has drain plugs. 11. I’m assuming you did do this already, but prep for the weather. You both agreed the water was freezing. I recommend a drysuit or a wetsuit. It keeps you warm until you get out of the water. Also make sure the wind is good. By the looks of it, the wind was light in this video. But keep a lookout for bad days. If there is even a small chance a storm is coming DO NOT SAIL. 12. If something goes wrong, let the sail out and go in irons (go in the wind) to fix your issue. For example, if your mainsheet comes untied, go into the wind so the boat won’t sail away when you try to fix it. Another example: your crew falls out, sail to them, then go to irons. Or if they are close, just sit in irons and let the sails out. Or, last example, you need to pull up your sail since you didn’t rig it right, go in irons, don’t capsize, pull it up. Anyway, this looks like a lot, but most of it didn’t apply to you in the video. It’s mostly stuff for the future and stuff I learned from being an idiot who shouldn’t be on a boat. But yeah you did pretty good for your first time. You did a lot better than I did. I sat in my tiny one-person boat (opti/blue dragon) and drifted away while screaming for help. Yeah that day was fun. Anyway, sailing has a lot of stuff to know, and at first it’s hard. Some days you will come back smiling about the fun day you had on the water. Others, you will come home, cold, wet, and miserable that you hit another sailboat in your regatta even though you had right of way, and you capsized, or something like that. It’s really rewarding in the end and it’s hard to learn. Whether it be the knots, form, points of sail, or right of way, once you get it, you never forget. You will always remember the good times you had sailing the ocean with friends. The hardships and the challenges are hard to overcome, but it is so worth it in the end. Wow this list went from what boat is that, to tips, to an inspirational speech. How did that happen? TL;DR Sailing is hard but fun, tips, what boat is that, and inspirational speech about sailing
Hi this is a great review of the basic sailing, when they were pumping with the rudder I was screaming in the inside. Btw what boat do you sail I sail for 9 years and I am now in laser 4.7
@@meme-ur6uk I race Club 420s and I actually have a regatta tomorrow. It’s one of the type where they start with 420s and then start the lasers. I think it’s radial rig, regular, and 4.7. But I’ve always wanted to try to sail a laser.
@@meme-ur6uk I have never sailing a Bahia before but it looks like a really fun boat. I always preferred two handed boats over single handed ones. I sailed optimists and I liked it but it wasn’t as fun as 420s were. But lasers seem like they are really fun. Also good luck with your regatta!
Tubbo: I live by the sea Also tubbo: *releases life by the sea* Tubbo 2 seconds later: this is how to make a figure of 8 jack,we make a head,we strangle the head and we like the head in the eye then we get a figure of 8.
I find it funny that lani just showed up and told jack he was going to die then showed them she as more knowledge about boats then the 2 of them combined
I have been sailing since i was 5 and the boat is called a pico I actually like when tubbo hiked out but I have no idea what jack was doing the whole time he should of been pulling in the little sails lol but it looks like you had more fun
Unfortunately for him there isn't a whole lot he could do. But if it where me i would try and write a will and pass it off as his will, its risky but it could save my life in the long term and in a survival scenario you better believe im taking that chance
As a rock climber who has to tie that knot a lot, I learned it as an alien that got strangled and poked in the eye. I did find out that recently they changed it to a snowman with a scarf and a carrot nose to make it more suitable for the kids.
