@@tchiksguitars obviously do whatever feels better, but the voice overs are really good, informative, and actually fun! I'm actually planning on getting the basic gear and give it a go :)
Dude you rock! Just an idea to dig into guitar building with one functional arm is crazy! And you made such beauty! One more thing: your voiceover sounds good, you should really keep doing this!
I honestly found this video to be so inspiring. The fact that you’ve done this with an injured wrist really shows off your work ethic and dedication. Very impressed.
I Really liked the minimal voiceover honestly, this is my favorite style of woodworking video. I mean it's just you and Mike Farington who do it, but it's my favorite
Not being able to make a guitar with just hand tools was one of my fear. But that fear was occulted by my rage of wanting to make a guitar with one hand :) 4 weeks have passed now and I still see this build as a " one hand build ", not so much as an " all hand tools build "
The production quality, the great build, the super chill narration and great humor, the effort of doing this with one arm, this is some amazing content. Looking forward to that tutorial!
C'est agaçant hein ? On peut pas s'empêcher de la regarder jusqu'au bout... même si on a vu l'autre ! Superbe guitare, elle fait vraiment envie ( autant de la jouer que de savoir la construire d'ailleurs ) :)
I really enjoyed this video, even better than the first. I imagine doing the voiceover is more work for you so I wouldn’t expect you to start doing that, but, it worked really well, your speech is engaging and easy to understand, and your humour shone through and had me chuckling at points. Really great video, and a great build
thank you ! I was very self conscious at first :) It surprised me that it's not that much work at all. I just had to watch the video once or twice to imagine what I would say, and then actually record it, it didn't take much time at all !
I just started play guitar and I got to say you got me riled up to make one. When all of this is over (corona) I'm going back home to Jordan. And the first thing imma do is have a visit to my uncles wood working shop, with of course your tutorial as my guide . For real this is one of the best asmr, wood working, wholesome channels and i love it. All the more power too you. P.s. Hope you get better soon :)
One of the most impressive builds I've seen, you did an amazing and very impressive job! And your problem solving skills are second to none! I, for one, really enjoyed the voiceover and think you should include it on future builds. Congratulations on a job well done, you've most definitely earned a new subscriber! 👏👍
Hi - your presenting style is really good and the production, lighting, editing is of a really high standard. You should not put yourself down. Compared to a lot of people presenting in their own native language your commentary is excellent. Really good to see someone build a guitar from scratch without tools none of us actually own. Keep up the good work.
This is the 3rd time I've watched the video, very inspiring, and made me decide to start looking into luthier courses near Antwerp (yeah, fellow Belgian 😁). Thank you for sharing! Oh, and your daughter: hilarious!🤣
I was visiting some family in another state and I got back today to find the guitar is finished, awesome! It's a beauty, a transparent black tele. never seen another like it. As usual your skills are impressive and your determination and work ethic stand out. Even if I could build the guitar I doubt that I would have done it with only one hand, once again impressive. The voice over is another thing, an excellent thing! You come across so natural, your explanation of what your doing and how it works adds so much and you have a sense of humor that adds to the video, You should consider keeping them. I can't tell you how much I enjoy your videos. You take care my friend, heal up, enjoy your children and have a wonderful new year.
Bro, you have my respect!!! I am so inspired by your video. I already bought a blank of Ash. I have no woodworking experience, but I will do it in my free time. Thank you
I'm gonna love that tutorial. I have quite some experience woodworking, but guitar building is something I would like to start this year. With the way things look right now, there won't be any vacation anyway. I used that time and money to build a fence around my roof terrace and to build some seating up there.
The commentary was great. I've watched and liked both versions. Looking forward to seeing more behind the scenes content - information about choice of tools, sharpening of chisels and plane blades etc etc. Best wishes for 2021.
people seem to be asking for that a lot, and that's exactly what I'm preparing for you :) it takes a long time because I don't use the traditional format of a tutorial, it's more going to be a powerpoint-like presentation with videos, images, close ups, lists, animations, covering EVERYTHING you need to know from A to Z :)
The voiceover is awesome! Please do more videos with voiceovers (I mean, if you have time). I love the sound of tools, but you're so informative and entertaining.
really like this style, most build videos are just timelapse and music, with statements about how far along the build is in between. actually talking about what's happening is much more engaging imo
Mad respect for building a guitar with just one hand and only handtools. I have two hands and powertools, but I´m not able to make a guitar like you!!! Mad respect man
Men I see the 2 videos, and let me tell you that this one with your voice is super cool men! Keep doing ths it's very chill bro🎸🔥 New suscriber from Honduras🇭🇳💙
Like a cure for Covid, the world needs more of your voice over. Top notch voice over, top notch video editing, and incredible guitar making skills. Thank you! Your videos are coming right on time as I'm getting closer to starting my first guitar. Look forward to the rest of your tutorial videos too! Also, I never knew an Egnator into an Orange cab would sound better than an AC30 or Matchless.
Amazing guitar!! Sad to see you don't sell, but very glad to see you're releasing your tutorial series. Comprehensive and with limited tools? Fantastic!! Greetings from Leuven :)
I really dig your work ethic and this beautiful looking guitar. I really love the ash with the black dye finish. The way you built this one is really impressive! I‘m really looking forward to the tutorial video, as I never built a guitar before but I’m thinking I will give it a try soon! Keep up the great work.
12:57 nice Jazz shirt! Video is very insightful, lots of good advices I don't have a money income and can't really afford anything of sorts, but i'm a workaholic once i get in the zone even if i'm not that good at it Thanks for your tutorials! 👍
Impressive work, Mate!!!👏👏👏🧐. Especially the homemade hammer contrapation. This is honestly one of the few videos I've ever watched all the way through👌
Wow great timing, I've just recently decided I want to try giving it my own shot and I haven't done any wood working in a while. I'm so looking forward to the tutorial videos! Excellent video by the way, love both the voice over and the 'silent version' type of videos!
That puts me in a difficult spot. I think I'll have to release both versions every time from now on :p but thank you ! There's a tutorial coming up this Friday. Loooooots of talking
Dear friend, I don't usually comment videos on youtube but when watching the videos, I decided to send this message. Since a very young age, I dream of building and designing a guitar from scratch. At 16 I started a guitar project starting from a large mahogany board, in order to build a one-piece guitar. It never ended. After being 26/27 years old I stopped playing for several reasons. In the first place apparently there were no musicians in the city where I live, secondly because I was never able to find a guitar that would make me not want to let go. Today, as a result of some instability and the need to feed the mouths here at home, the guitar dream of making and playing fell asleep. Watching your videos, the seemingly uncomplicated and passionate way you treat your projects, I felt my dream awaken. I have no possibilities for that, but if I could, my biggest dream would be to create a guitar with an explorer and independent person like you! Thank you for that and thank you for still making me believe that one day it will be possible!
@@tchiksguitars I love that you went ahead and did this. I think it would be very easy to just use something like a broken arm as an excuse to not do things(I would be guilty of this). This is very inspiring. I want to start building necks and I don't have many tools but you show that you only need a few things to get going. I want to copy the neck off of an old Martin for a tele - it is a giant V, 2" wide at the nut.
it's hard to really appreciate the contours of a neck (I find), so try to get a contour gauge :) I'll try to explain it in the tutorial. In essence, a neck is 1) feel 2) mostly maths :)
That is one sexy tele. The only thing I would probably do were I in your shoes is that I will use white paint for the signature on the headstock. The wood is a little bit dark.
This inspires me so much to try and make my own guitar. Though as you said I'm an absolute dead rock on wood work, on tools, on basically everything that might be required to make it. And no handful skills what so ever. though I'm waiting for a tutorial and maybe just maybe I might try my luck. Your work is super inspiring. I watched you make this guitar for 3 times already and I'm thinking on having a few more replays of it. Incredible job. Can't wait for the tutorial. Cheers
You know, the first vid I saw was w/o any voice on it. I read the description & simply thought you speak just your native language, this was OK. But then I discovered you speak English so well, so please do always this the sound of your voice. And remember to talk to your girl on them, I really enjoy it :-)
I really like the voice overs...maybe upload the voiceover in one side and the normal wood working sounds in other side? I think you can manually pan the stereo outputs in RU-vid.
That would be a great idea if I trusted that anyone could pan the stereo when given the choice (3 of my coworkers are born in 62 so I know what I'm talking about :p )
Amazing improvisation skills, video production value and end result. Although your daughter almost steals the whole show a bit, it's also an adorable guitar :) Making fun of your younglings pronounciation skills and both laughing about it is the best fun you can ever have in your life!
I'm poking fun at my own pronunciation too :p I discovered that there are a lot of words that I thought I could pronounce right, but nope. Any sentence containing the word " fret" gives me a hard time, isn't that silly :)
The ash body looks beautiful keep up the good work btw hopefully next year i will start the bamboo les paul it will be heavy but i have ideas to make it lighter i am also trying to figure out if black hardware would be better looking than silver but good job that guitar looks beautiful and i think it is crazy how you build the neck and you don't buy it that must take forever
@@tchiksguitars yea i cant either do you have any good clear guitar finish techniques because im still kind of a beginner at building and everytime i need a clear finish i use epoxy but it leaves bumps so do you have any techniques to make a clear finish or products you use
Voiceover made me watch basically the same video twice That's really clever How do you make those "serial numbers" on back of your necks? They look more professional than Gibson's headstock stamps
I kinda thought your daughter would graduate from college before the build ended but you surprised me. Great job but what was your cost in tools and time . Makes me appreciate the great guitars rolling out of China delivered to my door for cheap money. But again hats off to you for a great build.
Super nice work! I am just about to try and build my own first guitar, as I am super inspired by your videos. But I actually came here to see how you drilled the truss-rod hole, but I don't see any? Am I missing something?
