These are so good!! A tip that I have for you is to build the trunk first then build the house in the center, or around the trunk. Then do the branches, so you can work around your focal point instead of trying to work through the branches. If you choose to add more houses you can build the branches in a way so the houses all link up nicely. Hope this helped!!

Hey Joel! Just wanted to say that I’m also learning about how to make my trees look better. Here’s smth I learned about that helped me a lot and what I think you could benefit from too: I used to build my branches typically upwards a LOT like how you do but a lot of trees aren’t really like that. I started to use tree images without the leaves to help. It helped a lot and I don’t have much of an issue with leaves clumping or not following what I was aiming for (in shape). After I got that down, I began to do framework of leaves to get the overall shape I was going for. Then I would fill in the tips of the branches and trying to place leaves in the most natural way possibly to fit the shape more. This helped a TON with variety of trees & leaf clumping so I highly suggest!

I have a tip! Joel, you build your branches only at the top of the tree, but in reality trees usually have branches all over them, not just at the top. Try to add more branches sticking out of the trunk. Ooh! Also! Sometimes your trees look a little chunky from using world edit. Try to spend some more time placing blocks by hand to give your tree extra TLC! Hope this helps, keep up the great work!

Hey joel, something that might help your tree is building branches more to the side as well, because if you look at the branches without leaves, they all are ultimately going up. If you build some branches more to the side then add leaves, it'll keep the tree from looking more like a ball of leaves. Geminitay is also super good at building trees and her tutorial thing is super helpful, although she does build a lot smaller than this. edit: one more thing you could do is building the branches coming off of different points of the tree, not just the top. Although it is hard, because you needed a platform for the buildings. the modded tree looks so pretty!! also you're so good at building, and your x life builds are what brought me here!

I think if you want to build insanely big trees I have a tip: In my opinion roots look quite cool with big trees. So adding roots on the first tree and aybe extending the branches out more cld have made it look a lot less odd at the trunk. Im not sure tho cuz im not the best builder. The trees did look amazing! Well done! :)

Joel, your vanilla tree looks AMAZING, but I think it might look a teeny weeny bit better if the trunk was smaller. It looks good still, but a lot of trees I have seen have pretty straight, narrow trunks. Just what I thought! But in general, your builds are really good and very inspiring. :) Edit: The trunk on the second tree was perfect. Maybe you could add a branch or two a little lower than the main sprout of branches so it looks a little more staggered and natural.

Having grown up around forested areas most of my life, I find Minecraft builders of all levels of talent seem to forget larger trees are going to have weathered patches from well...weather, infestations, fungi, animal/insect damages, and humans. Not saying Minecraft has the ability to recreate this perfectly, but on larger custom trees I think it is okay to make noticeable knot holes, use different shades of wood on the bark for those weathered effects, use stairs and fence posts half way up a limb pointed downward then continuing with full wood blocks to show a broken limb still attached, or to use wooden buttons and fence posts along and in the ground a few blocks away from the tree to show the underground roots popping out. Even after all this time whether modded or vanilla Minecraft has a lot that can still be done but hope these suggestions help your future creations pop even more, Joel. You made me a fan of watching modded builds as I was definitely not one before but I think you have the potential to push vanilla builds to their limits and beyond as well! Keep up the excellent work and I will keep up the view count :D!

Tip for the trees of your treehouses: The trees you make are not large enough on the top. As weird as it can sound use brocoli as a model next time. Be sure du make the leaves look fluff by distancing them but still connecting them to the branches. Also depending on the size of the tree you are making make sure you add roots that will keep their shape until you reach the top of the trunk where you use them as branches. As for the house be sure to make the tree really large or oversized compared to the house. What I personally do is that I build house and bridges hanging from the branches, afterward I use vines all around the tree then set random tick speed to max for a minute then 0 to be able to cut the vines as you wish making the tree look old. As a pure reference you can use Iskall’s tree on the recent hermitcraft serie. Sorry for any spelling errors, I am not a native english speaker and I therefore can make a bunch of errors.

Also: When you do those comparisons as to what a build looks like with what shaderpack, could you please post the name of the according shaderpack as a text on screen or something like that?
