That turned out awesome! I’m just getting into vinyl and my collection is growing rapidly! I’m going to have to build one of these very soon!

Nice to see a realistic build for a change! They’re usually being done in a fully equipped workshop with benchsaws, thicknessers and mills!! I mean who’s got that stuff in the garage?? But a set square, a circular saw and a pencil I can deal with!! Refreshing to hear about the warped wood, imperfections and mistakes too! Turned out great, man. I’m gonna do it, slightly modded and with manual nailing 😂

There's a ton of projects that I wish I could do and never will because I don't have the space or the equipment. I have cheap harbor freights tools, plastic junkie saw horses and a tight 2 car middle class garage. A lot can be accomplished if you try. It takes more concentration a steady hand and some talent to pull off a finished build from nearly nothing as opposed to running everything through several thousands of dollars in professional tools and a workshop.

First off, great video! They look amazing! At 47, I have ZERO experience with wood cutting tools, but I think I may take a class or watch some tutorials to learn the basics so I can do this myself. I currently have 650 records, and use a 12 shelf Kallax. For storage, this works for me, but a "New Additions" or "In Rotation" standing shelf like this would be a nice addition. Second, I love the label idea. I had initially printed 8.5 x 14 card stock with the alphabet, and made band logos for any bands in which I had (3) or more records from. I then laminated the sheets. It was satisfactory for my needs at first, but recently I changed it up. I am now using damaged records with white stickers for my alphabet, and the band logo in between to differentiate. I enjoy videos like this for some great ideas and inspiration. Thanks for sharing!

I Built a 6 cubby one out of a 4x8 sheet of particle board and stained it a coffee brown, it looks amazing.

Looks great. I am researching plans to build something similar and like this build. I’ll need to add two units and a corner piece so that it fits along one wall, corner, and the other wall.

Thanks for the inspiration! I might have to tone it down it a bit though. I'm not sure my wife will be totally up for the record store vibe :S

Rather than those legs, I might have opted for some type of shelving or cabinet below to provide storage space for other items.

Weight, cost, time... all factors in why I didn't do that.

I love this idea. I think I'm going to do it. Although, I plan on using the end pieces to hide the back, front and bottom end grain. Does that make sense?

I am going to buy a nail gun soon. Is there a reason that you chose a brad nailer over a pin or finish nailer. I am seeing mixed things online. I made the same stand that you did already and made it 50% larger. I used wood screws and it is strong but not as clean as yours obviously. How did you know that the brad nails would support the weight of the records. My goal is to make more of the larger stands but I want to buy a nailer that will support the weight of large capacities of records. Thanks.

The design is such that the arrangement of the wood in combination with the nails and lots of wood glue are more than sufficient to support the weight. I already built a larger one after the one in the video and it's holding up perfectly fine, very sturdy. Also, I used a brad nailer because that's what I had left over after installing all the trim and finish work of my dedicated home theater room. You can use whatever you want. Screws are best but too many pilot holes takes extra time and are too obvious at a distance.

Where did you find that project board. I could not find that in stock at my local hardware stores or lumber yard. I do not want to do plywood at the bottom because you will see that rough edge from the front.

Everything is from Home Depot. I didn't build this with the intend to be high end. It was meant to be thrown together in a rustic way as a weekend project. There are several ways to improve the design along with more work and woodworking skills/tools needed.

@MancaveCentral1

Yes, they wobble a little. Nothing too bad. There are several leg and stand options out there. Use whatever you want.

Best if nail back of cabinet to wall and put two wood of metal legs on front. Just an idea
