You really outdid yourself with these! The harmony of shapes and colors is spot on. The builds look smooth and coherent without being monotonous, and I think that the choice of pieces, especially for the orc palace, is really excellent. I wish that Lego would handle smaller sets the same way: detailed and compact, with a purposeful choice of pieces; they do this with larger sets, but the prices are outrageous.
Ayy thanks a ton! I'm so happy to hear that. This is one of the only mocs that i'm gonna be keeping built after the video is finished. I couldn't take this apart for the life of me. I do plan on revising it in the future tho :)
@@Goldfyre finished it, for a while i have been thinking something is kind of off with your mocs, especially if you try to mimic the lion knights castle. i also discovered this with my own mocs, so if you wanna mimic the lion knights castle i would put more dark grey instead of only light grey in grey castles. it adds a nice contrast, have a nice day
Great video Goldfyre I love the desert theme! I am surprised I got here so soon! If it was any video I had to be at 10 minutes in in I would always choose a Goldfyre video!
Banger after banger - my Lego favourite channel on the entirety of RU-vid. It’s in the details and the effort it takes to craft these videos. You may be able to tell but goldfyre has been a huge inspiration to me. Long live the golds 🙌
Wish you could get any of these CMFs for at least a fair price these days. I have two of each fortunately, but even doubling those is now at least $60... at least $10 per Orc and $20 per Raven.
I love the moc, but I was thinking about maybe adding some dark tan masonry bricks or tiles considering how close the tower is located to “the desert”, but nonetheless, the improvements you’ve made in your Mocs have been astonishing considering where you were just a little while ago
The Raven castle looks amazing, but I think that adding a terrain as You did with the orcs will upgrade it to the next level. Every lego building have at least a base and it also make it look like a real set.
Recent follower of your channel. You’ve gotten me back into Lego and simultaneously got me back into drawing. Im a freelance videographer & have been struggling to create for fun without having some sort of ‘work’ incentive. Recently I’ve been been feeling a lot more creative and I think I have you to thank for that in part. Keep up the great content!
For fabric elements instead of buying from Lego you can make your own for way cheaper if you’re willing to do some DIY, just buy canvas fabric and draw out whatever shape you want then put fabric adhesive on the edges so they don’t rip and cut into the shape you want then dye/stain the fabric if you’d like, I’ve done it for all of my pirate ship mocs and not only is it way cheaper than official Lego sails but its fully customizable and looks great
Regarding the flag, I personally think a trading hub would have access to a variety of dyes. I feel dark red would suite them better. As for the MOCs, I think they're wonderful. Really appreciate the consideration for cultural architecture. I also appreciate that wood is relatively scarce in the desert, so most uses of it are thin & flimsy. The only that seems to use it opulently is by the Ravens, 'though a tiled storage room would fit better. It still looks awesome, so one could argue that they drove the Orcs from the more richly-wooded lands & are used to treating the material more casually.
I know it’s been said before, but wowza the prices on those ravens are nuts. I can only dream that lego releases a similar pattern in different colors someday…so many kingdoms possible!
Very nicely done. I wish I had enough sand colors to do fortifications at scale, but for now I'm predominantly locked into grays. The Orc gatehouse almost looks like a mustached face. Which makes me wonder if shifting their architecture to have a kind of heavy, angular base and rounded, more delicate upper sections might be a nice aesthetic tie-in to the jaw piece from the CMF. Something that you might consider for castle expansions for your desert factions would be including machicolations. These were first used in the middle east but rapidly expanded to the north and west after the beginning of the Crusades. It might give a bit more regional flair, in contrast to factions from other biomes and cultures.
I think it looks better without the flag. Love your videos. I am new to Lego castle and hoping to make my own MOCs once I get more experience with the theme and your videos definitely help! Well done.
idea orks keep red goblins, goblins that skins turned red from be on the sun for generations, actual figures nexo knight demons do perfect bit changes but that just bonus
Really great mocs and the minifigs you create are just amazing and a idea is juse a broken stateu of a orc god and build a castle in it like the stateu of liberty from the lego move set
You should do a big video where you make mocs for every location in your world and cover a whole table with them all in the right location then do a film or something where there is a big war
I think the witch's legs should only be used for the heavier armored cross bow men because the color aesthetic looks nice as it currently is for the lighter armored cross bow men, also I realised you might be able to salvage some harry potter minifigures for some raven knight minifigures!
Both builds look great, but the Raven Knight tower looks by far the best. If you could have made it with a relevant interior / hinged opening, that would have been best.
I reallly wanted to do a hinge on both floors and include an interior but just ran out of time and wanted to finish this video up. I'll definitely be modifying this moc in the future as i'm keeping it built for the foreseeable future. Interior & expansions are the first on my list
Absolutely love the gatehouse except the flag, which doesn't fit imo Because of the jagged and hastly-put-together style of it, as of the tower I absolutely love it! Except I'd switch the timber for a green or white to have more variety in color, excellent builds this video :D
Listen, you made a Crown knight’s castle, a Raven castle, and a Orc castle. Just make the Black Falcon castle already! The Black falcons are my favorite faction!
Lore for the Kingdoms: The Orcs and Trolls Many years before the Ravens arrived, the Orcs and Trolls of the Ghis Desert, united under Gul’Karga, built the Ghiscaros City, where the orc merchants and marauders would trade with the human warriors and wizards. These days it is led by his grandson; prince Halbrand Karga, son of King Sauron, allowed the Ravens to settle in their land. The Raven Knights After escaping the Black Falcons, the Ravens have spent the next few years being mercenaries. Until they had enough to flee south, settling in the Ghis Desert. They originally were suspicious of the Orcs, hence why they built the Ravens Watch. But after seeing how friendly they actually were, head builder; Bran Jafar, with permission from his king, allowed the Orcs to use their tower. In return, King Sauron and Prince Halbrand, allowed the Raven Knights to go to their city.
I like the raven faction but I think they benefit strongly from having flesh toned heads. The yellow and bright light orange just don't do it for me personally lol
Another thing the swamp nen would have little supplies, simple weapons, they could maybe a fallen city now run down collapsed and maybe even sunk into the swamp leaving only a few buildings, wooden sheds and a main spike reflecting on the creatures former glory
