Ive started taking an interest in building duplexes and complexes since we have roommates as an option. i figure you can have 2-3 small families but they all live in their own units and divide the space up smaller so its more fun!
@@thebestdanjan My immediate family (mom and brother sometimes my dad) I can talk to easily enough, but not for extended periods.. Everyone else I get anxiety and get socially drained extremely fast.. I seriously only have one online friend I can consistently talk to even on voice chat and have no problems. Anyone else it's nearly impossible for me. Like Kayla I can't stand going to places like getting my hair cut, coffee, etc where you're sort of expected to make small talk.. No matter who I'm talking to I always feel like I'm saying something wrong.
I love how ever since Kayla got into a million, she's been generally happy. Like she's very happy with her builds and is just going easy on herself. And we're all here for it. :)
I think it's mostly a product of the time of year. "Holiday Spirit" and such just making her more cheerful. As for being happy with her builds though, even when she's "hard on herself" she actually does enjoy what she builds. If she didn't, she wouldn't be posting it lol. She just has anxiety which will cause you to say things like that because it's the first thing that comes to mind. I do the same thing. I'll genuinely enjoy what I built, but still the moment I show someone else I go "Well, it's not *great*.." doesn't mean you're not happy with it.
I didn't even realize until now that she's at 1m! I've always thought she's more than that since she uploads a lot. But I guess she has a bigger Twitch following?
@@Erina88888 She did a whole video just a few weeks ago about hitting a million subscribers - the million dollar mansion. She has less followers on Twitch I think, but more viewers on average? She usually has tens of thousands watching the streams. She does a video every day and streams every day except like Sunday I think? I don't really catch her livestreams much.
@@noodle3851 You say this, but she has stepped outside of her comfort zone a lot - especially recently. Just a few days ago she redid a nightclub, before that she made a more modern style house for her new legacy challenge. Just before that as well she redid the karaoke bar.. before that was a modern style vacation home.. she also did the vanilla Komorebi house.. There was also the million dollar mansion she made. All of these examples were in the past month alone.
Oh I thought she was gonna build her personal dream apartment, I’ve been bamboozled!!1! >:( (I’m only kidding by the way, love Kayla, and all of her builds)
Build a house where every room is a different shape, you can have two random generators one for the rooms (master bedroom, children's room, office, main bathroom, hallway, entry room, basement, balcony, in suite bathroom, kitchen, living room, dinning room, patio, etc) and another one for the shapes (square, rectangular, round, romboidal, star, arrow, oval, heart, cross, triangle, octagon, T shape, L shape, etc)
I love how she goes from talking about the build to talking about a random story then another story that is completey different. It cracks me up but I love it.
Welcome to having anxiety and still somehow doing this for a living. Like 98% of her videos are her just jumping from talking about the game to random stories that in no way relate to what's happening.
@@Eventide215 yes I know I have anxiety too but The way she reacts too it and handles it In my opinion is cute and funny. I'm not trying to be disrespectful I have a friend that does the same thing.
@Noob Of The Violin don't worry you can build your own apartments and trap random sims in the ones you don't use! I built one on my gallery page, completely base game except for Holiday Stuff (free pack). My gallery page is mkatqween, and they're called Fern Park Apartments.
i saw this comment when i was drinking water, guess what- now i know why teachers tell you never to bring drinks in front of technology edit: i wrote this on my laptop not my computer
They should just let us build the entire building... it shouldn't be hard to allow it. Just have the lower floors automatically mimic the shell you create. Allow us to divide it however we like with a new room tool that sections off a lot into other 'lots'.. it'd allow for some interesting things to happen. Like when people make those townhouse builds or like the 4 apartments someone made with her recent shell challenge. With a tool like that it'd actually function as individual apartments.
I had NO idea Kayla listened to Taylor and I got soooo happy to find out she also loves her, nobody ik likes ts as much as I do so it's always exciting lmao
Wait, so you’re telling me that Simsie’s sims 3 legend Gertrude Paul’s hot pink and zebra print aesthetic is completely based on her actual childhood bedroom? Fiction mimics reality i guess lol
The Sims 4 treatment of apartments is kind of an insult to those of us who live in apartments, like hello? Just because my apartment is small doesn't mean it is a shithole.
If anything, most of the time when it's small it's actually a good apartment because it's small.. I'd love to see a lot more variety in apartments like having really tiny horrible ones though and having to build up from it. Being able to do a sort of like "rags to riches - only apartments" playthrough would be oddly fun for the little twist of the lot traits.
@@Eventide215 yes!!! Recently I decided to make two horribly awkward, unfashionable, inappropriate sims (janiv and blaviv) for fun and cram them in a ‘country, trash house’. Just for fun you know, it’s provides more character to the story and background for the sims.
@@mrsanonymous414 I had a friend who played through with a sim that had the insane trait (he's never used it before) which was changed to "erratic" because "social justice".. sigh.. but he thought he'd hate that sim because of that trait since it makes things so weird.. like his sim would literally have entire conversations with her food while cooking it and eating.. but that's actually what made him really attached to that sim. The thing I don't like about Sims 4 is it's such a blank slate.. the entire world is just blank.. so you're forced into creating these stories and background.. but even then ONLY your Sims really have that.. so everywhere you go seems a bit boring and dull.
@@Eventide215 exactly!!! It’s gotten to a point people are craving more flaws! I think I’m going to fill my world with tons of flawed awkward crazy sims now because they’re just so much more endearing, relatable, and entertaining. And ah, EA changing things is annoying, that was unnecessary. Janiv is an extremely nerdy awkward frail sim with such an astray sense of fashion, and her daughter blaviv is a going through a teen stage where she is obsessed with dating boys and has every celebrity male poster although she is quite the outcast she wears heavy makeup and less clothes and also lacks fashion sense, but she tries... she doesn’t know what is appropriate to say often and honestly she just wants to be like the other girls😂 it was very fun making them, and true to my ‘country trash’ theme, they have a fridge out on the porch and they share a room😂 Sims 2 was the best by far because they had hilarious flaws and interactions and best of all *a chemistry system*
@@mrsanonymous414 Yeah I miss when you had to pick 3 good traits and 2 bad. It really made the sims more alive. Forcing people to pick those flaws is what makes them have personality.. EA changed "Insane" to "Erratic" because people felt offended by the use of "insane".. so it's not really EA's fault this time, instead it's this whole "social justice" movement that's getting annoying. I also wish the chemistry system was back. It'd be interesting having traits actually affect how you interact with different sims.. Having sims with like complete opposits have a hard time gaining relationship and so on. Like an athletic sim doesn't like a lazy sim as much, but it's still possible. With sentiments and everything it could be possible.
I love that Kayla is talking directly to her mom about needing help with the back of her hair in the video since she knows her mom will watch (maybe like when she watched the 5 yr anniversary one). So nice that her mom watches all her videos!
I love it when people make builds for twins. I’m a identical mirror twin and I think I’d be so cool to see a apartment with two twin sisters/brothers who share the house!✨💕
Hey Kayla, this is going to be long, but I need to write this. I started watching you when I was nine. It's been a while, and I'm still here. And you inspired me so much, especially when I was younger. Yesterday, I recorded my first ever speedbuild. It's going up this Saturday. And I have only you to thank for it. You made me want the sims, and you basically taught me how to build. So thanks, Kayla.
“She’d just got home from work and was probably making dinner and listening to my video in the background” Your mom has never been more relatable _wow_
What you could do is save the rooms and put them on a lot, and then upload the lot. Then people can download the lot and put them into the apartments. But the save file method is probably the best bet.
@@lai222 I feel the same way. I'm glad I'm not the only one. I just want to watch a Sims building video and calm my anxiety. It's good to remind people since some influencers aren't taking it seriously but I use speed builds to escape.
cutting your own hair: you'll obviously learn the more you do it!! I cut my own hair for over 6 years now & it's cut the way I like it! I hate talking to strangers as well & hairdressers always wanna small talk.... gives me so much anxiety, I hate going there haha + it's for free ;3
Lol I can relate to the haircutting thing. I only go to the hairdresser about 2-3 times a year, just because I hate interacting with people. Pro tips for the times I do go: try to be one of the first customers of the day and avoid weekends; events are mostly at weekends (updos for weddings, people wanting to look pretty and fresh for some granny's birthday etc) and not many people want to get up for a hairdressing appointment, so there is not much (if any) wait time. Plus, tired people talk less. Hiding a little unevenness? Buns, braids, and curls (latter should work on shorter hair as well)
"The answer is yes. It's always yes." Seriously.. who would say no to cookies? You offer me free cookies, I'm taking the cookies.. I don't care if they're horrible cookies.. they're still cookies. I do find the story hilarious though for the same reason as Kayla. Knowing her mom had no idea, heard the video, and suddenly was like "OH, I SHOULD DO SOMETHING..cookies??"
Honestly Kayla, I feel like we've been on the same wavelength for all of 2020. I also hate the hairdresser and never want to go back, had a zebra comforter as a child, and love Taylor Swift. This whole video was so comforting and nice. I love the color scheme in this apartment too
i had bright red walls all the way through high school, and black furniture and black sheets with red roses and black curtains.... yeah i fancied myself gothic, my bed room now is totally opposite direction, cream walls, light wood and white painted furniture, cream colored macramé everywhere, brass and silver accents, crystals and tons of plants, one of my coworkers said my style sense gives off hedge witch vibes big time lol.
To be fair, when you do have a small house or apartment those are the 2 main rooms you typically want space in. I can live with a cramped bedroom or bathroom.. but the 2 main rooms I'll be spending most of my time in better have space.
When you were describing Your childhood bedrooms I could literally imagine the hot pink one with the comforter and then the brown comforter and everything like iconic
It's not hard to paint a room.. depending on the size it should only take a couple hours at most.. I don't get why people always make a big deal like it's the worst decision ever.. you can easily repaint it lol
Sometime shortly before middle school I asked my mom for the same thing, but she said yes. Believe it or not, it was actually an upgrade from the hot pink my walls had been previously. I think she said it took 3+ coats of the green to completely cover the pink. No one can claim she doesn't love me lmao
We should be able to go into like a masters mode and do the whole complex, and set different doors for different apartments. Why can’t we? Idk I’m not a sims creator
I can relate. I trimmed my own hair this year, and turns out since I have long curly hair you can't really tell if it's uneven, and it made me realize I can actually do a decent job on my own and don't really have to go to the saloon. I've always hated other people working on my hair.
Because Kpop artists are basically like the factory-produced model of music groups. They wouldn’t exist if a management company hadn’t put them together. So literally their entire existence is to create albums and tour and that’s the expectation. They treat the members like robots.
omg it'd be so cool if they added an update to tiny living to include tiny living apartments. And you'd be able to get a benefit from tiny living apartments just like normal tiny living houses. I also think it would be really cool if you were able to build ur own apartments by scratch. I know it would probably take a lot of work, but I definitely think that lilsimsie would have a lot of fun with that.
For needs TLC apartments, I normally just build I little room around the spawn place for the problem and then it doesn't bother the sims as much. Makes weird shaped rooms but I like that
I know this is from 9 months ago but I suck at building the outside of houses so I enjoy decorating apartments and this is such a great idea. I didn’t know what to do with this lot.
Hey Kayla! Thank you so much for your videos :) you really helped me get through the pandemic this last year and now I'm addicted to Sims! Haha I am also a hairstylist and totally understand wanting to do your own hair. I don't know if this will help but I recommend buying real cutting sheers online (if you haven't already) because the type of blade really helps (and often they're only like $30). Jaguar is a cheap but good brand for home use. Make sure your hair is either really really flat ironed or completely wet when you cut it. And only point cut! These tips will be easier to make it even :) xoxox
I live in the midwest so cost of living is lower & would die of claustrophobia in a small apartment. I love paying to live in my big apartment bc my lawn is taken care of, I don't spend a ton on landscaping bc I only have a patio to decorate & if anything breaks someone else has to fix it. Best of both worlds!
I’m sorry, but I was waiting through that whole haircut piece to hear that you cut your headphone cord 🤣🤣🤣 Kayla you don’t disappoint. But don’t worry, there are those of us who have done the same or worse, and with no pandemic to blame.
Kayla! I love this apartment! I’d love to see a second video where you use that blank space and make it into an entirely separate apartment.. So you could use it for 2 different families??! I think that would be a really fun challenge. 😸 Love your videos.
Who's here 4 months later and was like woah, Taylor released the albums back then! And the she said she likes talking things like that for that exact reason haha
Simsie clearly plays very differently than me. I always add as many skill items as humanly (simly?) possible so that I can attempt to create the perfect super sim... she makes homes look livable and cute.
18:08 Yes. My mom bought a full-sized Spongebob fleece bedspread back in 2007 (I think) from one of those old paper catalogs. It's still in pretty good condition after all these years. I would recommend it to you, but I've never seen it online before, not even on eBay or any similar sites. There's basically Spongebob merch for everything since Nick's pretty money-hungry and will give almost anybody rights to make Spongebob merch, so you could probably find what you're looking for.
Kayla: I want small apartments so I’m going to build a small apartment. I want my Sims to suffer. Also Kayla: builds a huge unrealistic 2 bedroom open floor plan apartment with ample storage and hard wood floors.
