🙂 he's trying to be goofy like linus, dont take this build seriously, but yes on the intel 1700 side and ur at microcenter u could go like u said: i3, basic matx board, 16 or 32 ram sticks, and for video card power supply it depends on what card u would like to try out. For example if u want to try out one of the new Intel ARC cards those cards are power hungry so ur looking at 650W minimum + Intel Arc. they have refurbished 1660 Supers so if u do that then u can get away with any 500w thats in the store. Two ways this could be changed for better performance. First is faster RAM with the 8600g would have helped as the pack grabbed was only 4800MHz, I bet Austin could have been below $500 with faster ram - a620 still allows RAM overclocking. Second is that a Ryzen 5600x and a RX 6500XT would have cost the same as the 8700g and given better performance on the cheaper AM4 platform. Also no budget gamer is playing higher than 1080p 😁

@@rainnaxilMost new motherboards have a button on the rear IO that allows for this. Simply plug in a drive to the designayed usb slot (most are marked for this) with the latest BIOS on it and press that button. Most don't even need a cpu installed, just a power supply. There's usually a blinking LED that lets you know what it's doing (look at that motherboards manual for that) and that's it. My job just threw away three i5 gen 8 computers away, decided to save them, and maybe build some gaming pcs for my little nephews for Christmas.

😒👍 8th GEN is the oldest offically supported cpus for Windows 11, install windows 11, update the bios, upgrade ram sticks, add an ssd, add a hard drive for storage, pickup three bus powered 3050 6GB and game on 👊😎

🙂 its shady AF, and microcenter wont flash the board for free, they want 50 bucks, u end up going back to the store wasting ur time and getting a refund, then paying more money for a motherboard that works

Maybe Ryzen 5500 (90€) and a RX 6600 (200€)? Pretty close in price (only 50€ more than 8600G in my country), definitely much better performance

@EragoEntertainment 2 месяца назад
@@DrProfessorBello Well you can get a cheaper motherboard and RAM for the Ryzen 5500, so it's true that it's probably the same price or maybe even cheaper than a 8600G setup.
@DrProfessorBello
@DrProfessorBello 2 месяца назад
@@EragoEntertainment with the specs you mentioned in your original comment, a build with those components would be pretty cheap either way and a much better buy than the 8600g. What I mean was that it wouldn't be as close in terms of price (still close nonetheless), it's just that you need to factor in all the other components (ram, motherboard, psu, case, cooler, etc.), that's all.

APUs have gotten a lot better in recent years but without a graphics card, you still won’t have a gaming PC no matter what (unless you only play old games).

A race pc build between Linus LTT and Austin would be dope, … three pcs , budget pc, tiny case pc, then hard line cooling pc.
@dawn_slayer
@dawn_slayer 2 месяца назад
For those comparing this with linus's build: 1: Linus used second hand components(gpu) 2: he could obtain components from various sources(austin only has microcentre which doesn't necessarily have the cheapest possible price for the product) 3: linus's system is quite outdated while Austin's is new and fairly future proof

i mean, you could just do a registry edit, and turn off the watermark on windows. Especially since itll update, and work just like normal (again) only downside to "NOT" activating is that watermark, which is 100% capable of being hidden.

@AustinEvans This was a great build, with one exception, no dGPU. You need one. APU's are not for gaming. They're just not. Even a used GTX1060 is better than that IGP.

For $500-$600, you should ONLY be going with AM4. No, it's NOT a dead platform. You can build a system WITH a dedicated gpu and it will be more powerful than a PS5. You can go all the way up to a 5950x and AM4 is STILL being supported with software and hardware updates!

In Canada there is no way you can build a decent PC for $500usd. But I ordered a decent MOBO 12,13,14th Gen Intel mobo from Ali express and a rx580 new, for a total of $259 cad, plus import fees probably 13% on top. And I ordered a 1tb m.2 nvme PCIe SSD and 16gb 3200mhz quality ram for $151 cad from Amazon Canada. Total cost $410 cad all in. I have an older case and a brand new 750watt PSU with 4x PCIe 8 pin connectors I got from Delta Server Store as an apology for having wrong PSU info on the desktop I bought from them. Awesome place to get workstations and servers on the cheap.

That extra $100 might be better spent on faster RAM if using an APU. Id hazard a guess you'd see more of an improvement in gaming performance than going from a ryzen 5 8600g to a r7 8700g. RAM bandwidth will be the main bottleneck, not the apu with 4800mt/s RAM. Dont know exact prices off the top of my head, but pretty sure that $100 would comfortably cover the difference between 4800mt/s RAM and 7200mt/s(or thereabouts)

🙂 agree but thats the problem, normally somebody building an integrated graphics PC is broke AF, normally u would buy the cheapest ram board power supply, so they would never ever have bought this thing if u told them 'bruh u gotta buy the fastest ram kit' , it makes the whole endeavor stupid. Its already been talked about on other channels. This is snake oil and very unfair to the broke people out there and the normies that have no idea that they are wasting money on a crippled system.

for gaming it doesnt really matter which gen atm for m.2 ssd, theres like 2 games that use direct storage and the vast majority of games dont use it atm...so getting a larger gen3 ssd is fine, 2-3yrs from now, maybe not so much, I drive 2x970 EVO Plus 1tb/ea for gaming only, no issues, my system loads in like 15sec usually so yeah...Dont overthink storage right now, just get as much space as possible, for content creation, productivity, moving files, etc, yes, faster is better...

I'd spend the extra money on the power supply and CPU. It's a bit of big deal. Especially if you're planning to upgrade later on. You should show the difference between the CPUs when equipped with a entry level GPU. I bet it's a major difference.
