never thought i'd say this, but that Fit is sick lmao.

I love the giggle at the first turbo noises while test driving, and I can't wait to see what it does on the dyno.

For future reference you can use the valved straight pipe as a resonating section when the valve is shut. There's online calculators for calculating resonator pipe length to kill specific frequencies. Build the quiet side and go for a drive, record the sound on the highway, then build the bypass with the valve at the calculated distance to kill highway drone.

Seeing you turbo a NA motor, make a custom exhaust, all this awesome fab work… makes me want to turbo my boxster…

I told my godfather about this and he loved it. He owns a fit currently but he used to track a Z06 and at one point he had a hayabusa. He’s pretty laid back now and recently purchased a Vespa.

This video series is freaking amazing man, the fabrication is also very satisfying to watch

Fun fact: The factory 02 sensor is wideband and reads within .01 of an AEM UEGO (dead accurate unlike the 8th gen SI WB). Also Honda/Acura uses this same P/N for the 1G RDX oxygen sensor which was the first US factory turbo vehicle. I too installed the AEM when I went boost and it is good to verify against the stock sensor to make sure it's reading correct, you can also disable ELD/EGR/ECT2 then wire in the AEM to one of these inputs to datalog the sensor. You can monitor pretty much anything you want through an OBD2 adaptor and display for a much cleaner look (I think you are already running an android HU? use Torque-pro or the Hondata app). Stock map sensor is good to 11psi also. I ran the Mishimoto universal J series/size FMIC and IAT was 7-10 degrees over ambient. Fit the space/bumper perfect and was able to keep the fog lights.👍 One other trick is to use a OBD1 Honda AIT sensor and the weld in aluminum mounts are on ebay/amazon for nothing. Unlike the oem sensor they have an o-ring seat and held in with two bolts so can handle the boost unlike the rubber gasket press in place OEM sensor, also it is calibrated exactly the same so just crimp it into the harness and move on. Oh and R18 throttle body is 5mm larger and bolts on, I would port the upper manifold as there is a nasty step. (I ran unequal fabrication 1 pc aluminum manifold)

This is amazing. I remember when i discovered Gingium making gaming videos (sim racing). I was younger then and as i grew up i dind't find that content interesting anymore. Whend did he become such a good fabricator? i am amazed...i think about all of the exhaust shops and guys doing this for a living and not making as good of a job as him. Hatts off to Gingium for making content rivaling in quality with The skid factory, Benny's custom works, etc.

With the valve closed, you're kind of getting a bit of a helmholtz resonator as well. The section of tube that is blocked off with create a pressure wave cushion.

the bolts didn't go crossthreaded. they galled. bare stainless bolts and nuts with no grease or antiseize will gall together every time.

Caleb, 2 helpful tips; 1. The clocking of the pin as it's inserted and how well it's crimped dramatically affects Deutsch connectors - crimp twice, rotate so pins align with retention tabs 2. Look at Tesa fabric tape instead of that nasty black insulation tape - Tesa fabric tape looks and performs like OE factory harness tape

I think you are one of the best guys on youtube doing these things. Most guys will drag something you do in a single episode for about 10 episodes.

Such an under appreciated exhaust setup for a 4 cylinder turbo that came with a single exit out the back. I had a similar setup on my VW CC. Gives the car two different personalities

I think that some kind of rear diffuser and/or exhaust tips would make a a great bonus for the look and make the exhaust output look like more stylish

I saw someone years ago do what was basically open downpipe, but they used a motorcycle muffler instead of just pipe to cut down noise and it still had the sweet turbo whistle

As much as I like the turbo flutter sounds, I suggest a blow off valve. That's the sound of boost returning to the turbo impeller flowing in the opposite direction. It's hard on the shaft seals and will wear them out prematurely. Ask me how I know. Lol

If you want to attempt more turbo whistle without a tractor idle, consider moving the first resonator all the way back behind the exhaust valve. This will make the quiet and loud modes closer in volume, but hopefully, it'll louden the whistle.

Beauty of an exhaust system! Only small gripe I have is with the rear exhaust outlet set up and lack of symmetry: the single pipe only exiting on the drivers side and the passenger side with the muffler and tip. Maybe a subtle OEM looking rear diffuser with cutouts for larger 4-5” SS exhaust tips? The diffuser will hide the connecting transverse exhaust pipe that joins the two exhaust pipes. Strictly cosmetic of course, but I feel would beautifully finish off such an elaborate exhaust system!

For ease of in and out, a flange at one side of the first resonator could be a good idea And fix the o2 gauge placement to more a pillar

If you want straight pipes without the tractor or drone you can tune tune the tones with j pipes, building those are definitely cheaper than buying mufflers/resonators/valves

Great turbo build! Personally not a huge fan of how loud the turbo flutter is, but that's just a preference thing. The dual-exit exhaust is smart. As a fellow GD Fit/Jazz owner/driver myself this was a fun series to watch. I wonder what's up next?

Honestly not a big fan of pie cuts, more of a smooth flowing exhaust and intake pipe type of guy but I recognize that it's harder and you need specialty tools and machines for specific pipe bends. Probably my favorite car channels of all time, thanks for the content man keep er goin ❤️

By the way there are lift kits for the fit, at least for the second gen for sure. You would take the springs from an insight and put little spacers in the front. I vote for full rally spec 😆that would be the ”perfect daily driver”

The Focus ST community deletes the factory resonator, and the whistling noises make it out the stock muffler. Overall volume increases slightly, but no drone on the highway. Definitely not as loud as your "valve open" mode, but it's an amazing $50 mod to make it sound great at WOT. Also, those turbo hissing noises are air pressure waves that will kill turbo impeller blades and then nuke the motor with metal shards. That's why blow off valves exist.

You really need to checkout VAREX mufflers, so much more simple than making complex sections like this. The muffler has four stages, 25% each stage going from a muffler to straight through

I recommend a vacuum exhaust valve, they are inexpensive and only require a vacuum solenoid like an egr solenoid, about $5 depending on manufacturer. I have a $35 valve on my truck and works like new even after 30k miles. The only modification I had to do to mine was weld a washer on the end of the axle so the valve plate wouldn't get caught in the housing. Vacuum valves operate significantly faster than the stepper motor variants. Most vacuum systems on cars have a vacuum reservoir with a check ball which is where you should source the vacuum for the valve.

Honestly, a slightly raised rally style fit meant for paved and dirt track would be sweet.

lovely content, i've always looking for honda fit tuning for reference all over the media which sadly not as much popular unlike to the other model like the civics. By personal experience all honda FIT or JAZZ GD3, GE8 & GK5 are underated hatchback. In fact they all has great lightweight sturdy chassis, reliable engine, spacy interior, a good daily, and tuner friendly, in conclusion It's a great car you dont know you need it. I hope you keep it up the content 👍👍

I built a very similar exhaust for my twincharged Subaru. But I used much quieter mufflers for the quiet side. And a boost activated valve because they last longer. Every electric valve I’ve had was a nightmare lol

Hey man love your videos. Just wanted to give you a little heads up on the exhaust hangers. Rather than cut them so short and welding just the diameter of the hanger rod to the exhaust. Bend the hanger rod in a curved U shape to wrap under or over the exhaust and weld along the sides. It is much more supportive in the long term and much less likely to break the weld.
