Knew a guy in Texas who sucessfully bypassed his water meter. He went to an area of new construction and chopped out a new meter with several feet of pipe and fittings on each end. He used his meter and box with the fittings and pieces of pipe to create a fake water meter. He used the other meter in place of his meter and buried it completely. When they came to read his meter it was still off and showed no new usage. The funny thing is one day they came to read the meter and he had a sprinkler running and they didn't pay any attention to it.
I worked for a company that had a water line feeding a fire hydrant break. They tasked a couple of our brightest guys to "repair" it... Needless to say, they found out real quick that schedule 40 would NOT hold main line pressure 😂 Not sure what kind of pressure the main was, but it sent shards of pvc over 20ft from the hole
Had a chance to see the pumps when I was 10 and understood why the pressure was so high. 1,000's of horsepower 4 monsters sucking from a lake with enough power to pull a swimmer from 20ft above the intake, which was why they had it marked no swimming or boating in this area
@@kennethwallace4338 That's awesome! It's cool seeing behind the scenes stuff like that. Most people never put much thought into how we get our utilities.
I knew a guy who filed the power companies seal so he could open it without breaking it. He would use electricity as normal, but once a month before the meter reader came out he would open the base and invert the meter and turn on every light and appliance in the house which would make the meter spin backward. When the meter showed a slight usage, he would reinstall the meter correctly. He said after a couple of years the power company came in and replaced all the meter seals on every house in his neighborhood.
The caterpillar dealership I work for actually did something along the lines of this for about 15 years until they were caught. They left the meter “hooked up” but necked it down really small into and out of the meter, and ran along side another pipe for the majority of the water to go through unmetered🤣🤣🤣. Bet management went “oh yeah” when they thought up that one
Some clowns actually think it’s a good idea to fill the meter box with concrete. It wouldn’t surprise me if they think this is a serious how-to video 😂
I’ve have employed or witnessed my competitors with a few “oh yeah” genius techs over the years. You look their work and it’s oh _____, WT_ we’re thinking! 😳🤯
