Story would have been better with knowing the rationale and backstory on her infidelity. Lacking that, it was still a good story, OP was a principled thoughtful man, his unequal taking of financials was wrong but the actions with the house was not.

So little cheating so much back story and filling each rounding out so useless characters and what each was doing none which have no baring on the main story this story has a lot of tonsil it could easily remove the tonsil part of this story and you wouldn't miss it get better at telling stories
