Your instructors are people I would never want to do my hair. The fact that you was told you took to long is ridiculous. You can’t rush that type of hair or any natural hair. You did good.
You can't rush any type of hair. That's why people come to the salon because the stylists are supposed to know and do better than we do ourselves when we rush every day.
Tons of these cosmetology schools don’t care about naturally textured hair, their goal is to make money. They don’t properly train their students to care for natural hair, nor do they provide products. They just throw the students out on the floor and the client’s don’t realize that. The students that do well with all hair types mainly have a natural gift and school enhances it.
Agreed! Honey take your time! This is why some stylist love cutting peoples hair off, it’s quicker to get them in and out. I love the fact that you put love into it! 🥰🤗🤗🔥🔥
If she can work with the young ladies and help them and their families maintain growth of natural hair she could probably have a good amount of business just with all the mermaids and princesses needing to get put together. I bet she's going to go far after seeing how gentle she is with the detangling stage.
Take to sweet time .. my old stylist was this way she took her time each head was a master piece.. My hair was very healthy back then and never the same after she left .. but now I’m on my healthy journey of hair and I’m loving it. 2-3 healthy service and it came out great with added hair care tips for home ❤😊
I love your integrity. It really shows that you not only love your craft, but you respect it. The fact that you wanted to prioritize the health of her hair above all else really shows that you are a remarkable stylist! Subscribed!
I learned black hair in hairdresser school (I don't know how to explain otherwise), and I worked in a salon who also did black hair and was very well known for quality. The lady who owned the salon tought me everything, even clients started asking for me. But the most important lesson she and the clients tought me was that black hair CAN NOT AND WILL NOT be rushed, you need to become one with the hair, and take your time working on it❤🙏 I don't understand that they think it needs to be rushed!!
@nikaj111 when I use it, I use it to seal in moisture. So I'll wash and condish, apply my leave in, ans seal it with grease. It only takes a finger dab per section. It makes for amazing twist outs. When I braid my hair down, I go down my scalp in areas that itch. If you don't slap it on in globs, it washes out with no issue. Any product, grease or not, that you over apply can cause issues. And nope, it does not clog anything- it's non comedogenic. It also does not make my hair tangle. Been "natural" since birth. Been using grease since birth. 35 years later, and my hair is still thick and down my back 😂
What I was thinking the problem is in my opinion no one ever told ha to do a clarifying shampoo or acv vinegar wash at least once a week to remove the build up cs I use Blue Magic on my kids hair an never had a issue cs I use a acv n baking soda cleanse once a month when I washed they hair..
@@livelovely4681 possibly the styles she gets and how someone take it out, too much heat on hair, always combing in it. It's plenty of reasons! Always put your hair in a protective style it will grow, I recently got locs I'm 6 weeks in and I have new growth like crazy. I haven't washed it or got it retwisted yet. The longer your hair is not being touched the longer your hair grows... Yes you will lose dead hair but it replace with the new...
THAT'S WHAT I ALWAYS SAID TO MY TEACHERS!!!! and now I have a full steady clientele that appreciates having their hair done WELL and not rushed. Lookin at you Great Clips.
😃👏🏽😃👏🏽😃👏🏽😃👏🏽😃👏🏽😃👏🏽 Her hair looks so nice!! You did that!! This shows you care about the HAIR, not just doing hair. 🤩👍🏼 You are someone I would want to do and take care of MY hair. You are already a PROFESSIONAL even though you are in hair school, LEARNING to DO hair. Your instructors can learn something from YOU!! Continue being true to you AND your craft.
Thank you for this! I, as a grown woman, have cried in a salon before because I felt I was being shamed (by a black stylist) for my hair density and amount (which I can’t control). Black hair is beautiful and only passionate people should be touching it. I hope this little girl sticks with you for life!
If they start complaining or displaying a negative attitude once they see your hair, just leave. When I was growing out my hair, I went to a salon where the hairdresser groaned at the thought of braiding my hair. It wasn't even that short. It was definitely at a good enough middle length. My mistake was staying despite that initial reaction, but I learnt this "if they don't care, they shouldn't be doing it rule" since then. Some just do not like the thought of doing anything that seems to be more work to them, in which case best to leave those ones alone.
At most I've been charged extra for length and I've seen people be charged extra for density. I understand charging a little more if we have more hair than average because it is more work but complaining and shaming folks is ridiculous.
I hated this about cos school. They treat press and curls like they should be 3s. Most cos schools are money hungry over the service. You did a great job! Make sure to get her mom's email and phone number. She will be your forever client. Good luck!❤
Baby I saw that bounce l! I’m surprised mama ain’t ask for that social security number just to make sure she could track you down in case you ever try to get away for real 😂
I wish someone like you existed. I was made to feel like my hair was always a problem. Before I cut it all off, I had the exact same hair type. Thank you for showing this beautiful young lady the courtesy I was never shown. It looks so gorgeous and healthy 😍.
Sorry but....Blue Magic is necessary for type 4 sealant and retention. We just have to wash with a clarifying neutralizing shampoo once a month. Trust me, her length is due to that grease holding in moisture. Please don't give out wrong advice.
It’s not necessary for type 4 for hair. If you’re low porosity ingredients in grease like petroleum and mineral oil is better for you because it allows you to lock in that moisture until wash day. Not everyone’s type 4 hair is suitable. If your hair is high porosity, then you will have a harder time using grease effectively. People should just do what works for their hair instead of condemning or overtly praising things.
For real my hair is so much longer with using grease. My hair loves it ❤ I just have to clarify my hair about twice a month. I raved about grease to my sisters and now they use it too😂
It’s not necessary. I have long “type 4” hair and I don’t use Blue Magic. There are other products that work for sealing and protection that have better ingredients and results than Blue Magic.
The point of the post was to show an example where BUILD UP HAD CREATED A PROBLEM. The use of grease in this scenario had become a problem. Let the point be the point. All of the other experiences possible in this world and that others have had are not the point of the video. If it doesn't apply, then... you know what to do. 🤷♀️
I know they were appreciative of your patience and compassion to fix that baby's hair. You are a wonderful stylist for showing passion and dedication to your clients 🎉
❤Thank you for taking your time, I feel that women with afro textured hair are massively undermined and neglected by the hair community because our hair takes more time and understanding. This natural hair movement is still new to some people so we need all the help we can get from the professionals and up and coming professionals.
1. I don't have build up..yeah I use minimal stylers, grease, sealants, oil or butter. 2. I make sure I trim every 12 to 16 weeks and in between I will dust if I see any knots or splits at home. 3. I use a leave-in conditioner and a leave-in detangler daily. 4 I shampoo and deep condition every week. My hair does not tangle badly on a weekly basis and wash day is an hour. I have high density hair so I have to detangle in 20 sections but it is so much easier to comb through than when I was age 5-18. Lol!
Girl!!!! I’m so glad to hear a stylist take the time on the steps of hair care that help with health, growth and length retention!!! I cannot for the life of me find a stylist in my area with the same practices! Kudos to you!!
😂 it had to be blue magic. We need to petition them to offer alternative formulas that don't contain petroleum and overkill on the wrong waxes. Obviously the old diehard gens want the old formula, but new gen want something healthier. Repeat offenders 😂
Never apologise for going the extra mile for a client. You take pride in your excellent work & the results speak for themselves. Outstanding job, sis! 💕
If I had been blessed to have hair like this then I would come to you all the time. Sometimes instructors teach what they are not willing to do. You did a fantastic job and put your client first. Brilliant job.
Why are managers coming down on the ones that do the proper job. Speed is not always an option. Especially dealing with all that hair. Healthy hair takes time. You did a great job
Blue Magic got that hair that good. Definitely wouldn't take it out the routine. She needs a clarifying shampoo, scalp treatment and a GREAT deep conditioner. Cosmetologist here!
Hello, which products do you recommend for shampoo, scalp treatment and conditioner; also deep conditioner and leave in? My daughter has very bad damaged hair. Thank you.
Thank you sis that's what I'm saying... Back in the day when beauticians and grandmothers was taken care of our hair our hair was living its best life it was healthy we had edges and everything Dixie peach Blue magic sulfur 8 wild growth was part of our hair routine And if you wanted your duty to last that pink oil moisturizer spray what's the thing spay it wrap it tied it up😂
Nope, it will have your hair tangled. Blue magic was used a long, long time ago for curly hairstyles & keeping that scalp grease. It should be used mildly.
I love your motto, "If they don't care, they shouldn't be doing your hair!" I wish I knew a stylist who would take such time detangling.....I would schedule an appointment for tomorrow!! Keep up the great work, Queen!👑
@@Klgray7373 proritizing money over client hair care like a doctor's appointment, no time spent on the patient, get them in out in the least amount of time.
Thank you for not treating her like a dollar sign. This is why I stopped going to salons and do it myself now. Most of them don't care to take the time to do it right. Thank you for being the difference!❤
Beautiful ❤ excellent patient job ❤ stay true to what I do no matter what ❤🙏🏾💯🔥😍 makes u YOU!!!! WE WILL PAY AND APPRECIATE SO THE TIME WILL BE PAID N YOU WILL STAY BOOKED So "trouble"/"PRAISE" was nothing but a boost of how great you are 🎉❤👍🏾💪🏾🔥💯
It can honestly be a good feeling when someone tries to reprimand you for good work. Of course it can be frustrating as well but I take it as you can be mad at me all you want, I’m proud of the work I did
I’ve gotten in trouble for doing my job too well before, too. It’s a weird, disenchanting experience. You did beautiful work and your clients will adore you for it!
If you use Blue Magic you must wash your hair weekly or every two weeks…and do not grease your hair scalp with it. I mostly use that and water for a natural.
Exactly. Grease is great for maintaining moisture in natural hair. In fact a little goes a long way. All you need is water to reactivate the grease instead of adding more grease which will only cause buildup. I always side eye stylists saying to stop using grease, butter or hair oils.
Now that's a good point... use more water to reactivate, instead of more grease. I'm going to get me some BLUE MAGIC!! I don't know if that will promote curl though. My hair is natural and gray, but only makes BB SHOTS..😂... it's relatively short though. DO you know what else I could use with the blue magic to get some curl going? Thanks
@@sherriesteele-petty2998 Use a curl defining leave in conditioner on slightly wet hair, followed by a very small amount of blue magic or a small amount of hair gel on the hair only.
@@sherriesteele-petty2998 it defines your natural curl pattern, but it doesn't really "promote" curls or make your hair curl up. Whatever is naturally yours, or what your hair looks like when it's kinda damp, grease will amplify or enhance that. If you use a styler, curl mousse, or curl activator under the grease, then it can help amplify your natural curl pattern even more. You do have to allow time between products though. So whatever you use under grease, give I time to activate and set, then apply the grease. Anything else you are looking for in your curl, you will have to set with rollers, rods or do a twist out for example. Hope that helps 😃
@@sherriesteele-petty2998 I’m sorry but the B B SHOTS took me out !!😂😂😂 haven’t heard that term in a long time. Thank u for taking me back to my childhood and, a good laugh.
Excellent job! You did what was necessary based on what you saw. You would just charge appropriately for your time. Keep growing and caring for the integrity of our hair!!
Right! You take the time necessary for EACH client. No two clients have the same hair nor will they need the same care/attention. Everybody is not going to be in and out in two hours. That school/instructor should be shame! Good jog, young lady! Keep that attitude and you'll stay booked and busy! 🙏🏾
Please stop telling people to stop using grease it clear has helped her hair be as thick and full as it is. Instead try telling them how to clarify and cleanse the hair properly. I have similar hair and so does my daughter. We could not find anything to seal in the moister for our hair type BUT blue magic (mind you I said seal not moisturize alone) so it works. People just have to clean properly.
I told this particular client to stop using it for a reason. They don’t know how to properly use it. They aren’t using it for just sealing. I’ll continue to educate and suggest what i think is best for my clients on an individual basis. What work for you. Works for you. 🤷🏾♀️
@SuesyCoils if clients are using grease, just tell them a little goes a long way and suggest a good home friendly clarifying shampoo. We have to teach clients how to take care of their hair at home also. 🧡
@@SuesyCoils awesome! Great style and if you are going to recommend how to care for the hair wonderful. Good job. Keep doing what you do and you will have a lot of clients because you care and that is what people really want in a hair stylist.
You did AMAZING. I think instructors may be unfamiliar with proper haircare for coily/ tight curly hair unfortunately. The results are proof you did it right
You did not take too long. You gave this young lady a luxurious hair experience and her hair needed the care that you gave her. You did an amazing job and I wish people would stop trying to rush high quality work
Your business clientele is going to be awesome because you do care about what your clients care about. That speaks big on your character. Shame on your instructors!!! 👈🏽 The client or her mom didn’t complain 🙌💆🏽♀️🧴I hope you go far🌷🌸🌻🌺🌼😊
It may have taken longer than expected but the health and care is priority. Hence a happy customer who will brag about you, refer you and return to you. If the training school were not happy, they should sit down and talk through your process, then advise on what you could have potentially done differently for you to consider next time. (If anything). Well done...Nice outcome 🎉
FANTASTIC work. I'm sorry your instructors didn't appreciate the attention to detail and client comfort that you provided, but I'm glad you won't compromise your values because of it.
Wow...... Beautiful. I'm a white lady with very straight hair. I never knew what it took to maintain coarse hair. You did such a wonderful job on her hair... Totally impressed!! Keep up your great work.
I've always admired the beauty of black women's hair. All the beautiful styles from traditional to contemporary. Really is a beautiful art form and this hair stylist is an artist ❤️❤️
❤❤❤That was true black hair love! It's a rewarding experience for our culture. Her walk and hair bounce at the end was everything! Great job, HairCare Attendant!❤❤❤
If your salon would rather you rush a procedure and put out mediocre results rather than take the time necessary to get the best results, than I think you should find another salon to work at or save up for a booth of your own. Oh, and please give your card to everyone who sits in your chair. That’s how you build clientele.❤❤❤
You did an excellent job!!!! I want the same service and whom every said you were taking too long they will want the same service to. They need to stop playing.
What people don't realise is if you use grease of any kind you have to use sulphate shampoos to clarify the hair. If a clarifying shampoo is incorporated they should be just fine.
Thank you for caring about your clients and their hair. You're correct, it's a must. Take your time. Your instructor's attitude is part of the problem, not the solution. Your clients will love you! 😊🙃
I got in trouble for the same thing.... at first. But once I stood up for myself, my technique, and my future clients they always was given the natural clients with super long hair after that! You did exactly right!!!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
