Bill Gunter has to go over to Fort Smith to testify in a trail, while leaving Nicodemus in charge of Dry Gulch. Word gets out that the cimarron gang is headed to Dry Gulch and a towns citizen tries to get the rest of the town to remove Nicodemus from office with claims that him and Elmer aren't capable of protecting the town.
