I'm 34 and got my license last October. I just brought my first car. It feels weird being able to get in the car and just go. It a huge responsibility, but having the ability to go when you want is priceless.

Congrats A!!!!!!! No joke, I just got my license 3 weeks ago (I'm 31). For me it was years of anxiety and fear of driving but by the grace of God, I did it. I had my first child 2 years ago and told myself "I need to do this for my son. How can I be a responsible mother in case of emergencies if I can't drive my son to the ER?" I felt just like you. And I wanted to show my son that you can overcome any fear by God's grace. You can do all that you set your mind to. I'm so happy for you! I cried as well when I got my license and I cried watching you get yours! You go queen! And we ABSOLUTELY want to see your car done up! ✔️

Why were u scared?
@JCal1991
@JCal1991 Год назад
@@deenadream honestly, I've always been afraid of being in cars at all. I've had the fear for as long as I can remember but I never said anything because I was brought up to stay quiet. So the idea of driving later in life terrified me. It didn't help that my dad made me drive in a parking lot at 12 with no instructions and I almost flipped the car over going too fast on a turn. When i was a kid, he also had a really old truck that bounced way too much when driving that I HATED being in. To this day I can't stand riding in trucks or vans. Any car that tends to bounce a lot.

Reading this I’m almost in tears, my step mom died in an accident when I was seven and I’ve had a subconscious fear of driving since then but now at 22 I’m just starting to read the book and set up my permit test

I teared up watching this thinking of my own license journey. I failed my test twice and that second time I felt so defeated. My dad told me to dry my face, that you only fail when you stop trying, and drove me to the DMV to reschedule my test. I passed the 3rd time and cried just like you lol

I felt the same way. I took driver's ed in high school but I didn't care about driving. My friends didn't mind picking me up when we would go out. But it came to the point that having a car is reliable and I got tired of asking for rides. I got my license at 27 and now I'm 30 working my way up to get my own car.

Practice, practice, practice. I got mine soon after my 29 birthday last year and I practiced with my brother multiple times at home and at the dmv. The driving part. For the test, I took the online ones and would narrow it down to the ones I got wrong and memorize the right answers. The uphill parking always got me😅, so I would go over and over those. I didn’t take the test till I passed all the online ones 100% three times. And I passed the actual computer and driving test the first time and at 100%. You’ve got this, y’all! 👏

It’s so great seeing this video because I went through a similar situation this year. I am 23 years old and finally got my license May of 2022. Since I was 17, I have been trying repeatedly to pass my permit and finally passed that after the 4th try at 22. Then this year I focused on the positive even though so many people would say jokes or I compared myself a lot to my younger siblings receiving their licenses before me, I did it and now I am a able to say I am a licensed driver and I don’t regret anything about it at all. Biggest milestone accomplished.

I just got my license last year…and I’m 36! I have a similar story to you. I live in da Chi, so public transportation was my friend (still is!). I originally started driving when I was 19, had multiple driving permits but could never get someone to take me. When COVID hit, I was determined! I enrolled in a driving program, took a few driving courses to build up my confidence in driving, went to my driving test (I had to be at the DMV at 5 AM to ensure I was one of the 1st people in line…they opened at 8) & I ACED IT! I haven’t purchase a car yet; but I’ve been using Zipcar to get a feel of driving frequently. I even rented a car & drove 5+ hours to visit my Dad in Missouri! It’s never to late to get a license. Cheers to you! 🥂 And congratulations on your growing family! ❤️🥳🎉✨

I passed my driving test on my third time during the pandemic, I started practicing meanwhile we have a lot of time. My brother was my teacher, and he really was very tough instructor. I learned by the screaming and cursing words. First try, I failed to do U-turn in 2013, second try like you the guy said that I was driving too slowly in 2018. My third and final attempt in 2020 the lady was very nice too and I had a conversation with God like you mentioned about want me to pass the test. I never attempted to get a license when I was a teenager. About 3 years ago I signed up for driving school and got my permit. I did practice driving with the driving instructor. He had to step in and hit the brake when a made a turn that was too wide. He looked terrrified. 😩😩 Since then, I haven’t attempted to go back because I got discouraged. OH ADRIANE!!! First of all....CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Same as you, I didn't have a DL for the longest time, always had my papi or brother to take us places, but in USA is more a need than a luxury to have a vehicle and been able to drive legally. For me it took several people to be patience with me to teach me how and finally my sister who got her license before me, same as your story. She was the one who helped me and took me to do the test and I failed in one question so the lady wanted to disqualified me but her boys came and said it wasn't critical and besides she was going to be with me on the road. So I tried the first time and I failed at paralelo parking, so she said go and practice and come back. So I did, my sister pushed me to do it and again, I almost failed but the lady instructed me how to do it and I passes. Same as you, I cried and THANKED GOD for being SO GOOD TO ME!!! Just turned 30 and finally got my drivers license, it’s been a big fear of mine since I was younger and felt discouraged for many years but it was a big accomplishment for me to finally get it. Although Uber and Lyfts are getting expensive I always found a way around. I feel you all on this and tried in my early 20s as well but girl we doing it!!! 💕💕💕

Thank you for talking about this, it’s been almost 8 years since I took drivers Ed and ONE incident discouraged me this long. I just got over my fear of driving again this year and I’m about to take my drivers license test this upcoming week. I do realize I need a license for my own independence but I appreciated being a passenger princess for this long 😅

I got my driver's license a few days after I turned 16. I remember leaving school early, taking my behind the wheel test and then coming back to my 3rd period class with everyone in my French class cheering for me because I passed. That was over 23 years ago. Getting a license was a big deal for me because my mother never drove due to her fear of driving and I didn't want to be like her.

Omg i love you so much!! I laughed and cried with you the whole video. I got my license about 3 months ago only because my husband was gonna be tdy and i have a two year old and i was panicking to the fact that she could get sick and i didn’t know how to drive (i am 28) but the feel i felt when i pass, I still remember!! And same, I started looking for accessories and cars as soon as i got home hahahahah. Extra congrats to you, i am very proud of you girl!!

I'm 28 and just got my driver's permit working on getting my licence, I just got engaged and realized if I wanna start a family I can't be depending on others to go places so I'm 100% with you A also the women in my family don't drive so I feel it can be a cultural thing 🤔

This inspired me so much. I've been learning on and off since I was 21, I'm 23 now but I just find it so difficult and lessons are so expensive. But my test is in January so I am not going to give up.

The first driving experience I was 16. I was enthusiastic about it then, but never attempted ever again until my 20s and I was suddenly now terrified and got anxious; I have a hard time multitasking. I feel like do I keep my eyes on the road, or my foot on the peddle, or my hands on the wheel! 🤣🤣 Honestly, I was so used to my dad taking me everywhere that I never saw the need to actually learn and take the test. I am still telling myself I was born to be driven.🙂 Now, I am motivated to try again.

Congratulations Mrs. Adrienne. You are amazing. I am 45 and honestly didn’t get my license until 30 . It was because similar to you I did a couple times passed written test but my anxiety was so bad failed driving . Lol I am a senior driver though only drive to get stuff done. Otherwise not so much of a recreational driver. Lol 😂 I am grateful for my license though. Especially since I still struggle with anxiety. Thanks for being amazing. Congratulations 🍾🎉🎈🎊.

Not only to go for my dreams but now to actually go for my license. So much stuff has gone completely wrong in my life with a lot of ups & downs but wanting to get my license has always felt somewhat impossible but after watching this video it’s lit something in me to believe I can also get my license so Thank u Adrienne❤️

I just got my drivers license in May at 30. I literally had to get counseling and took at least 20 hours of driving school to get it because I was so afraid of driving, but I had to learn for my job.

Congrats A! Gotta give u my best driving tips! #1 Ok so my top tip is to think of your car as a peaceful stress free bubble. If you’re being safe and keeping your distance there is no reason to stress. You can be confident! #2 Dunno if you’ve noticed but there are some wild ass drivers out there and they are aggressive so the best way to avoid them is to stay in the right lanes on freeways and streets. #3 When turning right (or left in some cases) dont ever feel in a rush to try to make it on the first gap u see. Simply wait until there are no cars coming. If you’re turning left wait until there are no cars coming on both sides, a safe space will open up eventually. A lot of times people will turn on the first gap they see and end up cutting cars off because they’re either in a hurry or thats just how they drive which makes no sense, there is no need for that, the extra seconds you get are just not worth it. It’s unnecessary stress simply wait. The only time you have to find a gap is when you’re merging onto the freeway or changing lanes but that shouldn’t be stressful either. Take your time at whatever speed feels comfortable. Most of the time people will let you in but not always so let those people go and just go behind them. #4 Dont just look directly ahead of you, also look far ahead. Always keep your eyes moving, it may sound like a lot but you get used to it! #5 People run lights all the time so make it a habit to look both ways when the light turns green. Its good to be cautious and it only takes two seconds. That’s it happy driving! So happy for you :) Driving is so freeing 🙌

A, I am proud of you. I too, failed 4 times and passed on the 5th time. After my 2nd fail, my driving instructor (who is ex-military) refused to give me any more driving classes. He said he would only give me a refresher on the way to the next exam. And I have been an excellent driver since. Perseverance is a God thing.

I know people who don’t even have their permits yet I’m lucky I have mines but it’s expired I do know how to drive I just don’t have my license yet my worst fear is the U turn 😭 and then turning onto another street from an intersection like the turn has to be exact and perfect 😭 those are the only two that bother me other than that I’m good hopefully I can get it next year by then I hope I get a new job that pays more money for me to rent a vehicle so I can practice driving or quit my job and go to driving school idek

It took me a while to get my license but not that long. It took 7 times to pass my permit test in (1997) at 16. Took the first time in "96" and had to wait 3 months before being able to take it again each time. On top of DMV charging me $35 per test taken. That's $245 total for a whole year and a half of taking permit test. Had my permit for 4 years till I got my license at (20) in (2002). Went through 4 years of high school, 2 years of junior college with no car, no license. When most of my friends were driving at (16,17) in high school with their license and their own cars. Then it took me 3X taking the behind the wheel test before passing it the third time in (2002). The DMV instructor testing me felt bad for me after I told her I already took the test twice and didn't pass. It was a sweet lady in her 40 or 50's that pass me. I paid $120 for those three test that year. This will be my 20th year of having my license in 2022. was just happy to finally pass it back then. Also my test was taken in California and we had to parallel park the car before ending the test. Don't know if they still ask the people taking test to do that today.

Adrienne thanks for sharing your journey to becoming a driver! Native New Yorker here and I feel you on never needing to drive in New York City so why get a license. Had my permit the second I turned 16, took lessons, failed the road test and never bothered with it again. Just got my driver's license as 40 years old! Still have to push myself to practice driving. I still live in New York (although in Staten Island, where majority of ppl do drive) but I still have that Manhattan brain I only think about how I can take the subway, bus or walk to places!

Then in 2016 i was ready and took my test first time after taking test last time in the 90's and passed. I asked God for a lovely examiner. God was faithful as she was the nicest examiner i ever had. I cried too. God is good. Jesus will continue to surround you with His love and favor. You will be a mom soon. In Jesus Name amen. Jx🙏

I passed my theory and now have my practical test at the end of the month and your video was so great to watch. Due to covid, U.K. driving tests are so backed up, you can’t get a new test date for 6 -8months so I pray I pass. I will do exactly what you did and speak to God, if it’s meant to be it will be. CONGRATULTIONS, I'm so happy for you and that will be me soon. I was with you when you said how the women in your family didn't drive. In my immediate family some women never drove and some started late. I'll be in the latter bunch because I refuse to die without my license and the freedom of having your own way to and from. It's coming hopefully before the end of this year! Yes I would love to see how you deck out your car! TFS!
