The worst enemy of every man is our own thoughts and feelings we try to ignore. Man can sink to the bottom of the swamp of depression even without a "good reason". And Roland had enough pain on his path to fixate on. We are humans. The worst torment we can suffer is not external - it's internal
And the worst part is that you can't blame anyone because you're responsible for just as much agony as you've been inflicted. But this is this and that is that.
@@unalive7917 but what can an individual do in the face of a raging torrent? It's better to let it carry you away than oppose it even if it drowns you.
People who don't know will probably see this as meaningless and won't understand anything. BUT IF YOU UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING OF THIS CHARACTER THEN HOLY SHT,DUDE WENT THROUGH MORE THAN LOSING HIS WIFE AND HIS UNBORN CHILD
dude literally watched all of the people he was close with die/he killed them himself when working with angela except a few, that right there is simply pouring lava on a gaping wound, scarring it, making it worse and burning the wound so that it can never be healed unless a miracle happens which is what the true ending for me is, a miracle that everything turned out right
I have nothing but my sorrow and I want nothing more. It has been, it still is, faithful to me. Why should I begrudge it, since during the hours when my soul crushed the depths of my heart, it was seated there beside me? O sorrow, I have ended, you see, by respecting you, because I am certain you will never leave me. Ah! I realize it: your beauty lies in the force of your being. You are like those who never left the sad fireside corner of my poor black heart. O my sorrow, you are better than a well-beloved: because I know that on the day of my final agony, you will be there, lying in my sheets, O sorrow, so that you might once again attempt to enter my heart.
@@kalimatronix "I hate this City for forcing us to be like this…" "And I’m horrified and disgusted at myself for partaking in its filthy business…" By The City's standards or views, Roland is at the very most reckless ever since his loss and if you observe his colleagues' interactions with him afterward and see Iori's proposal to him: you will realize that Roland is genuinely tragic and that him taking lives is nothing as he's the most emotional character that we've seen so far inside The City. "As I cleared the filth obstructing my view, it piled up on the path to the way forward…" "I don’t think I can face the growing mountain in front of me squarely." "If I tried to confront it…" "I might be buried under mounds of resentment and suffering from others." Not to mention that despite he shrugs off what he has done to others, he does hold a lot of guilt and remorse; this is evident when he's downplaying and becoming desensitized to losing his colleagues while he worked as a fixer before meeting Angelica. "I could put up with it all just for this moment…" Roland repressed and kept hidden how he actually felt in about everything throughout his life due to The City being an insanely cruel and hostile environment and in the moment he thought that to himself throughout his fight to kill Angela: all what he cared about was fulfilling his revenge and he was even aware that it wouldn't be the ultimate resolve he'd be looking for if he did succeed. "I’ve come this far so I can make her suffer the same… No, to bring her even more pain than what I’ve suffered." "I don’t exactly believe there’s happiness waiting for me at the end of this…" "There’d only be empty regret. I’d get nothing out of it." "But that’s still better than suffocating under these emotions that couldn’t be let out, isn’t it?" "I had been bearing with this shit until now to experience this small victory…" "I thought it’d all be over once I could accomplish this dream of vengeance." "I had a reason I couldn’t give up… I told myself that this was for me…" TLDR: What Roland did is literally nothing in comparison to other characters inside of LOR/LC, you can already guess why he got demoted to a grade 9 fixer and didn't get executed or prosecuted by any law, not even because of how his mask works.
@@genderzonHis guild is represented with him using cards based on memories of all important people he did kill during receptions Memory-Shi association Memory-Purple tear And etc.
My man Lonlan truly suffered a lot more than some strange boat that couldn't stay afloat. Heck, did the boat participate in the smoke wars only to never receive his promised rewards? Did the boat have an unborn child? Did the boat have some cool nickname like Black Silence? Don't think so.
1.The promise is unsinkable and will bring them to America for a new life they will never have. 2. Tons of them, and you had to abandon some of them or dies with them. 3. Titanic is a cursed name, it always tried to oppose god but failed in multiple mythology. Perhaps the ship's fate is already determined before it is even built. So the name is basically The ship that can defy nature and rise above god
I love how people laugh at him being sad just cuz "Wife dead😭" Even too most of these people wouldn't survive losing beloved so easily, and probably 90% of all people would have depression after losing someone who was important to them
@@tacrouu Like his wife was dead cause he had to go and save his best friend. THEN he had to kill that same best friend to get his revenge for the dead wife, how fcked up is that bruh
Even though his actions left their mark on many residents of the City, to him it was all for nothing, and he has lost everything he ever cared for in an instant.
wife and unborn child dies along with the entire district 9, makes friends with the cause of district 9 dying, Angela, betrays and depending on your actions, either kills or forgives her
I think people here fail to mention he is the main character alongside Angela and you have to fight against him in the end because he was really broken inside and wanted revenge for something Angela did he couldn't forgive.
Today I will OBEY YOUR WILL MISS CARMEN Let the most beautiful performance begin, so that all may hear and take part of. Huh, who’s this strange fixer with the white hair? >double kill< What a lovely piano key(s) they made! Why do I hear boss music- WHERE ARE MY HANDS

Way more than that actually. He went through way more suffering than just his wife and unborn child being murdered. His whole life was worse than hell yet he continued for various reasons. Not all of them being good but every reason being created off experiences that would drive most people to give up on life and end it all there.
his pregnant wife died by the appearance of a supernatural phenomenon while he went out to take a job like the mercenary he is. upon finding out, he killed off the entity that caused hundreds of thousands of deaths and proceeded to go on a complete rampage out of sheer grief and anger. he went as far as to make other people suffer even if they didn't deserve it
