Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture. With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

No doubt - take a deep breath and work through it, in a 100 years no one will know the difference. Whatever we deal with is nothing compared with those who survived far worse wretched circumstances namely all the wars including 70AD; Matthew 25:34-36, Mark 13:19, Romans 9:29

We've been raising seed beans for a long time. The whole process is very strict. Something must have happened to the seed after it left the seed conditioner. Most likely snow or rain got into the post-cleaning storage bin. Whoever is storing clean soybean seed should visually inspected the bins as planting time neared. It's shocking that high priced soybeans would be dumped on the ground. The feed, oil and biofuel end user has a zero tolerance for treated seed, so that is the quickest. Even if this load wasn't treated, the planter or seed tender might have a few treated seeds and that would be a big problem. If we have leftover seed that is not in the original package, we mix it in the cover crop seed.

Zach, I understand how you felt getting a service call for a tail lamp. I'm a former Deere service tech and I've seen a number of "easy" issues. More than once I've checked machines because they won't even crank over. I put them in park and they started right up. Other times the engine would not speed up past a certain RPM. Once it was "cab trash" (soda/beer cans, snack packages) stuck under the foot accelerator pedal and once a log chain under the pedal. There are lots of unusual reasons for a farmer's woes. Just have to take them in stride.

My brother throws tools when he's mad even after knocking himself out by throwing the 5 lb hammer into the tractor tire and it shot right back into his temple when he dropped I thought it killed him he's also had to replace a few truck windshields from punching them

So, you would rather have NOX poisoning? Ask your lungs what they think?

Bet that was the most expensive tail light you ever bought😂🤣 I know those JD service calls ain’t cheap!

Makes you wonder how many more farmers are having problems with the same seed? You would think the coop would want the seed back and clean it if it is worth so much, sure they will have an optical sorter, frustrating day I am sure

It seems like anytime you fold equipment up or put it out problems can show up, pinched wires, hoses, pulling things apart

So I happened to run closed captions when Nate was talking about DEF... the fact that google used the word death instead all 3 times made my day... "ever wondered how much reasources is used transporting death around?" I was in tears :)

The writers actually bothered to come up with a cliffhanger for this episode of the Millenial Farmer show.

LOL Years ago , early in my farming career I called my local John Deere dealer for a service call re: a A/C issue on my 7700 combine , middle of harvest , 38-40c temps , drove it under sufferance for a day without A/C , only to find the mechanic telling me my compressor belt WAS TOO LOOSE !!!! grrrrrrrrr , very expensive lesson ,and one I have never forgotten , as I thought it was tight enough !!! lol ....silly me !!!

That issue with the rotten seed would drive me nuts, equipment issues are one thing, but something like this is the kind of thing that just drives a guy insane. I thought you normally got your beans in pro-boxes like your corn seed, I am assuming these came from the co-op at a better cost? Keep up the great work and stay safe.

Gotta make one wonder how the germination rate will be on those beans. Even with treatment, there’s a substantial probability they’ll rot in the ground instead of germinating? ? ? ? ?
@paulthiessen6444
@paulthiessen6444 Год назад
@@Lightning613look like if was condensation on the inside of the silo or a condensation crust on the top on the pile. If the beans got warm enough to affect the germ, you would notice it both in colour and odour.
@deangelojeremitriusvickers6319
@@Lightning613nah it should be fine. Like others have said it got wet somewhere. Causes headaches on these high speed planters but shouldn’t be an issue if and when you can get it in the ground. Granted it’s worthless because you can’t plant with it but what he did get in the ground should grow just as good as the rest

Total respect and admiration for what you and your family does. So much to do everyday, and you all do it well and make it look easy. Which I know it's not at all. Thanks for all of the insight of what it takes to run a large operation.
