I Can't Believe I Made This || Woodworking Projects 

Thanks, that shop is definitely worked in. It's a little too unruly even for myself at the moment. Hoping to get some more storage built here soon, and this project cleared up the space for that.

My shop is also always a mess. This project was my first step to clearing up some space for cabinets so I hopefully can stop tripping over stuff all day.

Nice! I used to clean it with expensive table saw cleaner, but have found some water and bar keeper's helper works just as good. Just have to move quickly haha.

Right. I was chuckling the whole time. I also remember this taking FOREVER to build. I make cabinets so much faster now.

I also hate throwing things out, and spending money. I do wish I had more time and money for shop upgrades. Not necessarily to make it fancy. But, to make it more functional and less hazardous. With multiple projects being built at once I find myself tripping and running into things a little too much.

Long Answer : I think a lot of RU-vid ( at least in the beginning and for small channels) isn't just making a quality product, and uploading a quality video. It's about keywords, titles, capitalizing on trending topics, catchy thumbnails, etc. And I just don't have time to engage in or research the business side of RU-vid. For example, this video so far is my best performing video in over a year. And I know it's because the title borders on clickbait. If I had titled this "How to add a router table to a table saw" I can guarantee it wouldn't be performing nearly as well as it is. The problem is this is about as close to clickbait as I'm willing to get. Since the majority of my videos are how to videos I want to title them accurately so people looking to make those things can find those videos. SInce this wasn't a full fledge how to video I went with a more popular title, and it's crazy how well they work.

Yeah, this is the catalyst to revamping that whole side wall and hopefully really utilizing the space more. I find work like that tedious and time consuming, but so worth it in the end.

Thanks, I was definitively happy to finally take this off the To-Do list. It's been on there for awhile.

I also do a lot more freehand routing. But, that’s mainly because as you saw I used that table for storage and it had To be moved to use. It was inconvenient enough to just avoid using it. I’m making some French doors soon which will be mostly router work and figured moving it and squaring everything up again would be smart before that build.

I work kinda like a tornado which is part of the reason my bench tops look the way they do.

I did think about that, and I know it will happen down the road. I'm just hoping it happens infrequently enough that I don't regret moving it. But, I agree and can see especially for fine tuned setups that it would get annoying.

Nice! For most jobs I would just convince myself to do it freehand or use another tool because moving it around was such a pain. I think it will get a lot more use this way.

I made it so it can move, but I have no plans to move it around. Just wanted extra insurance in case I ever need to move it. The fit between the rails is tight enough that it doesn't budge. But, if it starts to wander I can bolt it in place.

Agreed, most stuff stays out till the particular job is done. Otherwise I find myself just taking out and putting away tools multiple times. But to each their own. I worked for a very nice guy once who was rehabbing an old factory to turn it into a home. After each small job we cleaned EVERYTHING. Drove me crazy, but it worked for him. I watch a guy on here who is an arborist, does a ton of work in his shop but keeps it very tidy, and I get jealous. I like the chaos, but wish things were a little tidier sometimes.

You won't believe this but I sweep at least once a week haha. Small spaces are tough because when even one thing is out of place it looks a mess. The saw dust does get annoying I need better dust collection. The other problem I have is I'm always working on multiple things at once to stay efficient. As something is drying I can pop over to something else, but that also leads to clutter everywhere. I have five projects in progress in the shop right now which just leads to stuff being everywhere. Two of those projects are carvings which means there will be sawdust on everything til they are done, I don't love it, but I've embraced it at this point. Part of moving this router table is that when I have that big built in out of my shop I want to add lots of storage to that side wall to help keep things a little tidier. I will never have one of those immaculate workshops it's just not my style, but I would like this one a little more organized. In conclusion, I do clean but it's a losing battle.
