I'm hoping to see you do a review about this Civil War movie, I got a feeling you will have some of your own thoughts on why it's a terrible idea to get a guy from Britain to write a story that involves US service members fighting our own people in our country. This dork has never been in any combat situation but felt the need to show the horrors of War while dragging us all through the mud.
I as a civvie, never served. Never took any professional instruction, know infinitely more about weapons than the Naval branch of our armed forces... This photo is what I think of every time someone starts off a post with "As a".. Then fill in the blank - Veteran, operator, etc etc. You get zero credit using your military experience as the reason you are an expert in a thing. Lol. Again. I know better than everyone involved with this photo. Oof.
NAVAL OFFICERS are literally STUPID the ONLY know BOOKS 📚 they Do NOT know the FLEET or the Field & All ENLISTED Personnel has to TRAIN the OFFICERS 👩✈️
@@anthonymerchant2597 Let me totally spoil it for you, bc the trailer left like 5% of the movie unspoiled: The pink glasses dude in the trailer is the highlight and climax of the movie. It's actually pretty boring and predictable. I was expecting some type of nukes threat and we don't even have that... It's kinda like watching a self-critique of journalism by journalists but seeing it mainly through photos, so most of the drama is sucked out of it. There's some cool camera work, but.... not much to ''get" out of it. Kinda seems like the whole thing should have been a behind the scenes power point talk at a journalism conferance about ''sensitivity" and not sacrificing "the truth" for the sake of sensationalism. If you're super into grim photography tho, this movie is definitely for you. It's also supposed to be character driven but you know almost nothing about any of the characters throughout the movie. They have parents who live on farms, they like sleeping in the van, they're all the same blank canvas ppl...blah, blah. blah...The dude in glasses forces them to do some exposition and that's kinda the only time we learn about the dudes in the movie and we just get where they're from....the movie is super focused on geography for some reason, like chatGPT got together with google maps and that's all they could come up with, in terms of human traits: "what's your postal code/state?" Both of the females are actually the same character written twice. And they keep telling you that throughout the movie. One is the older version and one is the young version. They keep making jokes about the f@t dude dying first bc he can't run fast, but ''plot twist" (omg!) he dies in the car while driving, not while actually running. They try to make that dramatic for like 2 minutes but then female #1 just lets us know this was actually a good death for him and what he would have wanted anyway bc he didn't want to retire...so we just move on from that in like the span of a popcorn-grab. He was supposed to die anyway, they kept telling us all along...so, yeah. And the characters are so *stoooooopid* that when a dude is holding a gun to their heads to shoot them based on where they're from, they actually tell him the truth and of course, he then shoots the ones from the ''enemy" regions, which are the states he didn't like, which he already told them about. But it's supposed to be all dramatic still... All the drama comes from the visuals, If they just did a photo montage and skipped the ''script" all together, that would be a better movie bc you could actually imagine real ppl in those situations and not the robots on screen, in the actual movie. Literally, everything in the movie is foreshadowed to such a degree that it sucks all the drama out of every single moment. Everything. Every single plot point throughout the movie is foreshadowed and explained and then explained again and then it happens in EXACTLY the same exact way as described 2 minutes ago. And no matter what happens Kirsten Dunst's character (I can't remember her character's name...female #1) always looks like she's just sitting on the loo and just took a poo, but it's disappointing. She's just super disappointed by her bathroom break product and just standing there looking at it with supreme disinterest and disappointment, and mild disgust. That's the vibe, the entire time. Bullets flying: *barely awake, dissapointed poo-poo face* . Lifelong friend just died: *barely awake, dissapointed poo-poo face* , Talking to younger self-character: *barely awake, dissapointed poo-poo face* , Gets shot: *barely awake, dissapointed poo-poo face* , Supposedly dying: *barely awake, dissapointed poo-poo face* . You get the gist. She's there, she's disappointed and just can't be bothered anymore...No matter how hard she tries to add that damn fiber, nothing ever gets better... it's all just so disappointing. There is no conclusion to the movie and we have no clue if the civil war actually ends at the end of the movie, either. It ends with a photo collage. (I have no idea if Kirsten character is actually dead either bc we never see any blood, but tbh, I feel like even if we knew, the answer would somehow still be disappointing regardless of which option it is.) I have the feeling it was meant to be "moving", but it just felt super underwhelming. I didn't fall asleep but only bc they played it in avx and the sound is really loud. I give it 2/5 poo-stars. My favourite character is the one nameless -character dude who called the rest of the main characters r*tarded bc they kept asking idiotic questions while under gunfire. I have no idea what happened to him either. Movie just cuts to next scene where they're driving again. I assume he was still alive...maybe? Does anyone care? Again, hard to care about a collage of random characters, who don't give a sh* about anything or anyone. There's no real plot at all. No character motivations. It's just all a blur/void, really. Just wait until you can see if for free, imo. Some of the visuals are definitely cinematic, but it's kinda like, again, getting AI to spit out cinematic images of random themes and key words. Nothing really connects any of it.
Try (full) Commander OR Captain, O-4 and below do not have the "scrambled eggs" on their covers. HOWEVER that star on his right pec means he is in command. So that would make him the Captain of the ship, if that is his ship.
As a Marine myself... this sounds like a very Marine thing to do. "Skipper wants a rifle to shoot. Lets put the scope on backwards, he probably won't even know the difference, what do you bet?" ...I can kind of imagine that's how this happened.
That is funny but the Jar Head who did that to the skipper? Unless that commander has a super good sense of humor? That Marine is going to walk the plank.. 😆
I think this is it. I'm not military but suspect he figured it would get caught before 'go live' and everyone would have a laugh. Didn't get caught so maybe 'uh oh' but resulting laugh is even better. I do this stuff in IT fairly regularly. Fully expecting oversight layers above me will nail it...sometimes they don't and it is indeed a great laugh..for me anyway because folks above me SHOULD have caught it.
I sent this photo to my little brother, who is active Navy. I said, WTH Navy? His response was "We just shoot at water anyway"... He has a point. This O-5 hit exactly what he was aiming at...the ocean.
For some reason a concerningly large number of military social media posts always look forced and as if the people in them have no clue what they're doing.
Everybody wants to be in the badass cool guy rising out of the water commercials, not have a picture taken by some dweeb that's going to be posted on social media for like 500 people to see.
@DrHavok1 can't forget the 30 caliber clipazines that make a simple semi auto have a cyclic rate of eleventy billion boolits in half a second. I don't know what that means. I'm making stuff up like politicians.
As someone who recently left that ship (DDG56), I know the Gunners Mates onboard. The person currently in charge doesn’t know shit about guns. She and the chief in charge of the division are being rightfully ridiculed for it. The GM chief is now famous in the State of Washington (the ship's current home port) because of this. Now onto the officer in question in the photo. He is currently the CO of the ship, and he's one of the few good ones out there. Actually bringing positive change to the ship and lifting morale up. Yet now he'll probably only be remembered for this.
Bet if he knew she was useless and ill qualified, he took the pic he was asked for with the gun he was given as a subtle pushback on all the woke crap going on. DEI has no place in the armed forces.
Was on my last ship, and got a prop fouled on a fishing net... As 1 of 7 Scuba certified we volunteer to clear it, but were told "no". We had to travel nearly 3000 miles, to pay nearly $100k to have it "professionally removed".... After that, the CO would ask my buddy and I during a 'Swim Call' to check the props. 😂
@@Chancellor_dumb I heard somewhere that back in Vietnam guys would break open claymores to get C4 that they would eat small bits of to get "drunk" if you eat to much it can give you seizures though.
when I was in Iraq in 2010 it was in a joint org...we had a Navy Lt Cockmander who replaced his SAPI plates with cardboard because it was soooooooo heavy with them. Dude worked on Union III...yeah...the only time he ever wore it was to walk across the street to the embassy to violate GO1...anyway, picked up his IBA to hand it to him one day and damn near launched it through the stratosphere it was so light....embarrassed him right in front of his Admiral... Replace your SAPI plates with cardboard...2 bucks...get reamed in front about 30 Marines and Soldiers for it by a 2 star...priceless!
on my ship had an 0-5 with a degree in CS that did not understand that placing a giant subwoofer right next to his PC was frying his hard drive. even after i told him, and replaced/reformated it multiple times. finally had to threaten to get the captain involved to get him to move his fucking speaker. Or the time i had an officer grab a stanchion i was painting. mind you i saw him read the sign of wet haze grey, look me in the eye, look down to the paintbrush in my hand that was actively painting the stanchion, looks back at me... then GRAB IT WHILE LOOKING ME IN THE EYE. THEN the fucker starts death glaring me for "not warning him". mofo i had up 6 signs, one that i saw you read THEN duck under, look me in the eye, look at my paint brush, look back at me then grab the fucking thing im actively painting and you think this is MY fault? holy fuck. and i WISH it was the only time i saw an officer do something that stupid. fucking 800 enlisted on board, not ONE is dumb enough to touch wet paint. but ive had 3 different fucking officers do it. two of which screamed at me for it. "so" glad the "educated" people were leading us....rofl.
I love this story. At least swap your SAPIs for something useful like, beef jerky. That was the only good thing about the old MTV, you had 4 separate beef jerky compartments.
I remember one time being sent to Japan as part of an early party on the USS Belleau Wood, one of our jobs was to go around and prepare the quarters for the officers that will come on later when we arrive to Okinawa. One job being making their beds, we short sheeted every one of them.
As a retired Navy guy who has seen this fun stuff for years I love that the Idiocracy of military leadership is now on full display. It’s the Navy’s turn now but we all know it’s a whole of DOD problem.
The "Military Industrial Complex," when the armed forces stop being about fighting a war, and focus on the "boom-tubes" to sell/give to foreign nations for them to fight wars.
Cap is on, trying to scope himself, hand guards aren't installed correctly, stock riding so high in his shoulder hes likely to hit his "rear admiral" in the face once the rifle slides off. He isn't putting together Navy PR material, he is auditioning to be CNN's next assault rifle expert when he retires.
MARINE Private could've oriented Captain Dufus(that's his new name. ) to the weapon. It's almost too good to be true. I mean, really?! Was this a setup? If he's a ring knocker, he might retire from commanding a fleet barge. Where the hell was the Master Chief? Probably passed out in laughter.
There's a perfectly good explanation. He is such an expert marksman that he has purposely made it more difficult to see thereby giving himself a handicap. What a good sport.
god damn it you stole my comment 20 hours before i made it. but what you didnt know is that the guy in the picture is my uncle. and he is across the street from your house right now seeing a very tiny version of you. so do you want to apologize and give me credit or do i have to make the call?
AC notice the right hand pocket, the gold badge is worn only by CO of a ship, squadron or shore command. as a 6 year paratrooper and then 15 year sailor, weapons training is almost non-existent outside of special ops commands . I changed over from the army as a E6 reverting to a E5 in the Navy. I was a laid back SGT but the first time a young sailor when given a order by me, said why? My best R. Lee Ermey came out and it was a eye opener for everyone on the hanger deck. The word went out dont fuck with the Old Army guy. Reputations go out and I never had a problem for the rest of my Navy career. Love your channel I check it out a least once a week POB on this Navy photo
I'd bet that for both this and the gloves pic, sailors intentionally fucked around to troll the media team. This is higher command type of ignorance, not "went through basic and weapons training and continue to maintain and train with your equipment" type of ignorance.
Take a pic as evidence and see if the officer catches it. The gunners mates must’ve been rofl big time. Yea we would do that to each other. Lol. Go Navy.
lol aren't marines part of the navy? like a high schooler with embarrassing parents smart helpful but embarrassing papa.....so why put your papa on blast lol? I mean the answer is marines....but lol right?
@@andrewbisbee9251 this was 100% a Navy GM and from what i heard from one of the crew it was a female. She is probably reassigned back to A School now lol
That little star means that officer isn’t just an officer, he’s the captain of that ship, and someone handed him a backwards lpvo and a loose hand guard. I love it
He’s at least an O5, and yes, the CO of that ship. Single row of scrambled eggs for O5s or O6s. He could be an O6…. Which would explain more. Very far removed from small arms.
I could really use a wish right now, wish right now, wish right now Can we pretend that airplanes in the night sky are like shootin' stars I could really use a wish right now, wish right now, wish right now Yeah, I could use a dream or a genie or a wish To go back to a place much simpler than this
@@edvin_hook That phrase is intentional. It is used as a misinformation phrase to people who don't know firearms to make it seem automatic without saying it. Same with 'gunshow loophole' which just means private civilians selling to civilians, but that phrase makes it seem unintentional.
as a Former member of the US Navy (I was an MP), this is incredibly embarrassing, and I'm so glad I got out when I did. you could not PAY me enough money to go back into the Service.
It took me a minute, I don't know the optic, but damn, I honestly thought he was holding the stock over his shoulder at first glance. It does indeed only get worse
yeah, that was actually the first thing I noticed. I was army 95-98, so no optics for me, but even with the old A2s, the first thought through my head was, 'that things probably gonna fly right off his shoulder'.
Honorably discharged from the Navy last year. I'm guessing that the RSO's have signed off for the Skipper's qualifications without him having picked up a weapon in a very, very long time. I'm also guessing, since the image actually got posted, that this Officer made enemies with a GMC who has some influence.
I served in the Navy between '87 and '95. I can tell you this much, from what I remember our shoot exercises were pretty much nothing more than a bunch of guys that got handed an M-16 and 2 full mags who were then told to dump all 60 rounds into a bunch of bags of trash tossed off the fantail. In order to get any actual firearm's training I had to request temporary duty at home port (NOB) Norfolk to attend actual training classes and testing.
Yep, that's how it was. Getting small arms practise for the crew into the weekly schedule was virtually impossible. Then USS Cole and 9/11 happened. From that point onward, it became a whole lot easier to get some training in.
I served in the Army and Navy mostly post 9/11. I do not consider most of the weapons training and qualifications in the Navy as valid. Ashore, there was no training unless I sought it out and fought for it. At sea, we just shot the ocean. No target other than water.
Retired Navy CPO (1999 til 2018) and small arms /crew serve weapons instructor… I can see shore duty being a problem but qualifications on a ship had to be done right especially after 911. I think your weapons department failed you… FCC 10-4
As a Gunners mate, you are completely correct when the fault lies within the Armorer, If I am to say the LVPO’s are a relatively new issue, HOWEVER, That’s the cool part about Firearms and Optics, THEY COME WITH MANUALS.
When I was in the navy, in the late 80's, the only firearms training was in boot camp. It consisted of firing two clips through a Colt 1911 converted to .22, and a discussion of how the M-14 worked, using a large model hung on the wall
When I went through Great Mistakes in 18, they just brought back the live fire range day and only consisted of shooting a berretta to possibly get a pistol marksman ribbon. They didn't do any training on rifles other then saying that the M4 is a thing.
Late 80's USCG. Even we got a week of weapons training including two days on the range with standard quals to graduate. Damn, didn't realize the USN was at USAF levels back then. Oh, and our M1911 actually fired .45, not a .22 conversion.
I'm a civilian employee (Army Vet) working on a Naval Base in Texas. You can be sure I sent this video to the Navy Vets I work with. We (I) will have a good laugh on Monday!! Thank you for making next week at work sooooo awesome! See you Monday guys! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Navy 1982 to 1988 AZ2 VS-41 and VS-33 two west pacs and my Father taught me the correct way to shoot and handle a weapon at the age of 9 and now at 66 I understand it all...way to go Navy.
Dude such a missed opportunity we could have learally had the UNSC but instead we got "space force" but with the way the Navy is performing now a days....
A ex-army arms repair specialist pointed out that someone didn't even put the hand guard on right, meaning it's improperly zeroed and unsecured, which screwing that up is not even easy to do. and you can tell by how the barrel is bending compared to the receiver. And someone ELSE pointed out that the lens cap is still on the optic. the captain isn't even seeing through the scope. The more you know, the worse this image gets.
Also, another nitpick on the stance, how the hell are you gonna handle what little recoil the thing has if the actual spring buffer isn't even lined up to your shoulder? So many points of fail...
First thing I thought was the armorer knew this dog and pony show was coming, knew that the XO was ignorant about firearms, and thought. Today's the day!!!
1. I love how badass he "thinks" he looks. 2. Officer probably didn't know how to pull the trigger, so they had an enlisted toss two shells into the frame.
Thanks AC, when you show something like this I hear my father's ghost so clearly. He was an Army vet and NRA instructor, right now I hear my old man laughing his ass off at that picture.
I mean, there may be complaints about that one, but as an autistic guy who thoroughly enjoyed maths class… yeah, that was the biggest chuckle of the episode for me. 😅
@@toolbaggers Without the navy the marines could still deploy anywhere around the world in a few hours via their own ships and aircraft. however, without the marines, the navy has no soldiers, leaving those ships very vulnerable and making landings practically impossible. The navy needs marines more than the marines need the navy.
@@carlosspeicywiener7018 of the 240 combatant ships the Navy operates, only about 30 carry Marines. They do not protect Navy ships, and we do not need them in the slightest. The amphibious Navy is red headed step children of the Surface Fleet, and we’d gladly get rid of them if we could.
This shows how our officer corps is severely lacking, none of these field grades or general officers are even expected to know bare minimums that enlisted are required to operate at. It's a literally clown show, what the military has become.
Honestly, the vast majority of Navy personnel will never need to touch a rifle. I don't even think that pistol qualification is required in boot camp, currently.
@@alansteel As the US NAVY is mainly responsible for protecting shipping lanes boarding actions are still a thing so proper use of a personal weapon needs to be evaluated. Hell even during WW2 there were times ships ran out of ammo were ready to attempted boarding actions as a last resort.
Glad my first tour in the Navy was with the Marines in GTMO in '86. Where we received weekly weapons training (organized by me) from Top FEW (MGySgt Weiland). Unfortunately the chicken wing was still in style in those days but we had M14's :)
Yup.. just saw that myself. Came here to see if it was being talked about. Man! I get Navy pr was pretty butthurt over it but there’s got to be more about this commander.. getting shitcanned for this is stupid af.
@@planefixerguy5188 I agree, but I still feel like dude should be given benefit of doubt if it IS only this one detail. He could be an incredible leader, and highly competent on all the systems and programs he’s responsible for.. but just not a gun guy. I mean, a surface warfare officers should have a good knowledge of all weapons under their charge, but he’s not a rifleman.. That’s what Gunnersmates are for.
I wish I got it :( I don't know what it means or really how to interpret it in a offensive way. Dropping bombs in Palestine? Tat's the only real thing I can think of.
I knew a navy guy in our companie who was a trainer. he loved to do everything backwards and train new drivers as poorly as possible. Makes soooo much sense now.
Long ago and far away, that chicken wing thing was a thing. I was actually taught by a 1st Cav Airmobile guy who received his million dollar wound during the '68 Tet Offensive. He was my house mate and was teaching me to target shoot. For those of you who don't know, a "million dollar wound" is anything you survive that ends your tour and sends you stateside. He actually took shrapnel in his neck and back from a mortar round that made his eyes jump like the old TV sets, and some other neurological issues. Some of the shrapnel was inoperable, what with how close it was to the spinal cord. I was a Navy helicopter mechanic in coastal waters aboard an aircraft carrier, so, not a lot of opportunity to fire a weapon for most of us after boot camp. Where we fired a .22 one time at the range. That's as opposed to the M-1 Garand we toted around every damn where in boot camp. And never once fired.
Yep that's how I was taught to shoot at both of the firearm training sessions that I attended during my enlistment. its a good hold for longer ranged shot but virtually useless in CQB.
that "chicken wing" comes from learning to shoot 30 cal rifles ( m1 garand/m14 ) which if you dont do that and drop your elbow you will know because you will have trouble controlling the rifle, the whole position approximates a conventional highpower across the course match standing shooting position which given that the shooter has the stock extended out too far is fine for plinking he is not shooting a tactical course. also note how high in the shoulder the buttplate is - thats also the mark of position target shooting as well
Commenting for support. Comparing the 2 photos, the gloves and the optics, my bet is, that the officer does not enjoy the respect of a person, that had an opportunity to modify the configuration of seed officer's weapon and will forever have this photo as one of the best memories of his/her career.
As a former CATM instructor for the Air Force, this caused a blood vessel to pop in my eye. Why did nobody mention how high he has that buttstock on his shoulder? Thank fuck the M4 has a baby kick, else the guy standing behind him could have had a bad day.
I was a Navy Operations Specialist ( Radarman ) from 1985 to 1995 . I sailed four years sea duty on a destroyer . I attended Ship's Self Defense Force school at Naval Amphibious Base Little Creek Virginia where the instructors were USMC Infantrymen . Then I got orders to be a Navy MP in Yokosuka Japan , and graduated your MP Academy at Lackland . Your Air Force small arms instructors didn't train us because at that time we used the M14 rifle and the 1911a1 pistol , while you used the M16 and the M9 . So there were USN small arms instructors at Lackland . Also at that time your cadets were trained with pepper spray , while we were trained on the Monadnock PR24 baton . The M14 chambered in 7.62 NATO has a lot more recoil than the M16 chambered in 5.56 NATO and we had to really make sure it was properly shouldered . At Yokosuka the Marines let us train on their indoor range with our 1911a1s , but did not allow us to fire our M14s . Thankfully the Air Force allowed us to fire our M14s at their range in Yokota AFB . Thanks for your service , Brother .
As a former sailor, I had the worlds biggest laugh at 'Navy Weapons Training'. Holy shit they taught us how to disassemble and reassemble the M17 and how to dry fire. A sailor shot himself in the leg and they shutdown live fire lol
