70% of the studio left during the development. Very little of Arkane Austin's soul remained. They were probably shutdown, not just because Redfall was underwhelming, but the value of the studio had plummeted.
@@ykmopopp3660 that would be valid except most AAA developers color code, high contrast light and set apart anything interact able. Like RE4 with yellow paint thrown everywhere, a lot of things are made intuitive to just the sight. For more complex mechanics, yeah tutorials make sense, but a lot of the tutorials in Redfall are so incredibly intuitive, I already assumed that was the case.
Live service games didn't really start to boom until Fortnite came out. Now you have battle royales, battle/season passes, and just a crap ton of monetization for almost every f**king shooter. The worse part in all this is this crap is seeping into single player games too 🤮
It's so frustrating because I want this ADHD-fueled marketing and additional purchase incentive to stop. I don't always want to be sold something, sometimes I want to enjoy the product I paid for without interruption. It also shouldn't be our problem as consumers if theyre struggling to monetize. No one said big budget games were necessary when the purpose of technological advancement is to make current cutting edge tech cheaper and more accessible. I don't need path tracing, I don't need season updates; I just need a complete product form start to finish, that's all.
Well, Arkane Austin has been shut down. No more updates, no offline single player. I wonder how long the servers will stay up and then it won't even be playable at all anymore. What a total SHITSHOW
I agree; what's worse is Arkane Austin lost their studio because Zenimaxx said "hey make this game", even when many, many sources reveal Arkane did not want to make it at all. Complete shitshow and I hope the devs can find work soon
"play", yes. According to SteamDB, the Steam player numbers have 36 people in game right now, with 71 players for 24h peak. All time high of 11,000 was 11 months ago. They're definitely at least glancing at it in their libraries, that's for sure
@@SnailOXD I know all about it i was somewhat hyped before it released they theme and idea of an open world RPG that was about slaying Vamps is what drew me in and i was let down by the lack of content and guns, bugs and things can be fixed but hardly any content killed it. the story line was Wack too, plus it didn't even have cut scenes it had slide shows with a narrator. it really sucked. The idea behind it was awesome though.
@@davidfrazier6308 I wasnt paying too much attention when it came out at first, but as I learned more about it I've become a bit more upset about what this game could have been. But it's so blatantly obvious Arkane didn't want to work on the game
I own a Series S and we got it bad with Redfall. Game is broken and ugly. But lord forgive me when i call the XSS a bottle neck when it literally held back BG3 😂
Did it actually hold BG3 back? And BG3 is relatively well optimized. Devs should just stop with the open world stuff, it's not necessary for every game
I'm so sorry to break that news to you bro 😞 if it's any consolation, there's evidence that strongly suggests Arkhane were told to make it, and they really didn't want to
Live service games are good just gotta be maintained and worked on for YEARS before so u hve backlog content to drip feed and good systems to back it up warframes not tht good but ppl love it. Its still alive by a huge margin
Yeah Live Service Games need an interesting premise and a community; The problem with Redfall is that it's a Live Service Game made by a company known for Single Player. Their core fanbase isn't the type of person interested in live service model, but in good single player experiences.
@@SnailOXD ignorant comment honestly. Stating live service cant be done because its a single player company is massively incoherent to the problem as a whole. If the game was functional itd be good if sony didnt pressure xbox for “EXCLUSIVE COMPETITION” then the game wouldnt have been rushed. This is the problem with the hate for live service game arguements. Yall always state things that arent even accurate or valid concerns or complaints. Complain abt the real problems like the fact that its clearly unfinished. No good cutscenes other then the opening one(WHICH WAS A SICK CUTSCENE NONETHELESS) it seemed like the only good mission was the intro mission in the entire game. How bout a looter shooter with zero ZERO loot. U got the studio behind some of the deepest games ull ever play STATING that the problems in the game ONLY STEM from being a single player game developer is so beyond stupid and ignorant its hilarious. I hope reading this opensnur mind for providing better arguements other then baseless garbo to spew at ppl bc ur a “content creator” u probly said the same thing abt sui squad ktjL “oh no its not batman wah wah wah its multiplayer live service by rocksteady it aint batman” hold up we will check rq lets see u hate on that for the same rzn💀
@@SnailOXD lemme guess i was right. “I really hope the live service game thing starts to die out” u didnt even provide gameplay of u playing the game with ur 80 views on said video i bet u cant even afford it but still decide to trash on it. 💀 get real. Ur opinion doesnt matter and u should stick to ur 9-5 buddy. U dont belong on here. Cya.
@@SnailOXD then why make a video? To slander live service games specifically? Oh wait that is exactly why u made that video :| ur all the same. Thanks for oroving my point.
My friend played this for one day. His friends love it but I was like, "this game is too walky and open-world with nothing in it." There are fans, they exist (never met them though).
It's just hard to believe because these days, when a game sucks it feels like it dies on impact, I do appreciate that they're out there though. I'll say I've become like an ironic fan of the game, kind of like I am with Starfield. I hate the game, so I pay attention to it's news.
My friend's friends were playing it often. It's not for me. Also, you know they have to make everything obvious because people need things to be stated clearly. The kids can't read and media literacy is dead.
@@litda I know it just sucks and I hate it because media-literate adults have to bear the consequences 😔😔 Honestly, anyone who finds this game fun, all the power to them and I hope they get to enjoy it to their hearts content
That’s why I old gamers that were born in the 80s have a little more respect for developers now and new young generation new or if you made video gaming your whole life maybe you could be critics like this because you think you’re better than everybody😂😂😂😂
I just make videos, I'm definitely not better than anyone else, nor is anyone any better than me. It's up to you whether or not you agree with my thoughts, but two questions: 1. What is Scofield???? 2. What makes you think video games haven't been my whole life?
Trust it or dont, none of my business. It's like you didn't watch it though, because the game showcases that it still has small bugs, horrible combat AI, and a generally empty open world. Why pay $90 for this when I can spend that $90 on anything else? Trust me, if I made any money off RU-vid in any way, Id be uploading a lot more frequently
