In this episode, I encounter an unexpected road block. My plan was to ride through the Lekgalameetse Nature Reserve. It should have been a great stretch of off-roading, but most likely, it were the heavy rains in the area in the weeks before, that had destroyed the road. I had no other option than to turn back, and backtrack --- a LONG way!

Honestly , people dont know South Africa until they visit us , we have our crime , yes , but you just have to be smart and vigalant , like in any other country , This is an amazing beautiful country and most of the people are amazing , we are generally very friendly and love to talk , we talk alot! I live in Durban and I can tell you we have the absolute best of all worlds here , you can start off in fully developed the City with everything that any other city in the world can offer and more, half an hours drive your in a game reserve , go the other way and your in the mountains , go the other way and your on the wild coast enjoing the ocean , travel about 4 hours up north along the coast and your in St lucia , richards bay and empangeni , amazing beautifull areas , travel down towards the wild coast and turn left , and your in a Forrest . and During certain seasons , if you travel to the mountains there's snow! . And when your done , you can go back home ! And this is just Durban , Theres still Cpt and Jhb and so much more .

As a South African, I can agree that the view of Africa shown is not always flattering. However there is multiple countries on the continent of africa and some of them are most certainly as depicted in the news and docuseries etc as war torn and run by rebels but there are also gems and amazing places and countries. The African Continent has in my honezt optinion some of the most spectacular views vir a variety of cultures and customs. This does not take away from other countries that have rich and diverse cultures and histories. I would say dont be afraid to wabder off the beaten path in Africa and make the most of your time on the continent, but also keep your ears to the ground and get the feel for areas based on how the community guides you.

This is so wonderful. Seeing the landscape of South Africa is half like travelling there myself and is such a pleasure to have this experience. I’m 70 years old and do not have the stamina or desire to explore countries in person but I follow you with a passion, as your “travel” buddy. Thanks for giving me this experience and the ability to see new places from your bike! Walking through markets and streets in Guatemala, talking to people in Mexico, going through northern Canada and Alaska! And South Africa! I’ve always wondered what it would look like on the ground, with baboons crossing the road and wildebeests in the distance. Your biking along the backroads in the Yukon was so precious. I worked as a geologist's helper in Mayo when I was a summer student. Then my friend and I spent 10 days exploring from Whitehorse to Skagway about 5 years ago. I am from Vancouver, but many family members have travelled in the Yukon over the years as one of those magical areas to explore.

@@ESPirits87 ...I don’t get annoyed, but it helps when I don’t wear my glasses, because without them, can’t tell if they’re simply ignoring me or just annoyed. Sometimes seeing the world in a blurred manner can be beneficial. Sometimes not. Was walking with a friend and we passed a couple and I waved, but they didn’t reciprocate. However later on as we were walking back, the same couple was walking towards us again, but without my glasses I couldn’t tell for sure if it was them until they passed us. I ended up waving as we approached them, but the guy gave us a real mean look as we passed. Mentioned to my friend that the guy was probably annoyed with me waving at them twice, but my friend said the guy was probably pissed, because he was starring at the guy’s wife breasts the whole time.
