"My dad said no" or "because it's bad for me" The second option is your independent belief and opinion. It is a philosophy you belief. The first one is a command to follow, one which will be disobeyed in times of rebelliousness. Similarly, it would be better for her to say "because that's degenerate and I'm not a degenerate," rather than "because daddy said so." Since that would signal her independent and conscious understanding of avoiding degeneracy.
