One thing I've learned in therapy, is that all hoarding comes from trauma. Whether it's a fear of not having enough, or not getting your emotional needs met, or something else, it all comes back to pain. It's NEVER actually about the stuff.
Somehow I feel that Martin, and other hoarders I have seen in these vids, have been enabled by the people around them. His father could have just said: eh, no, you are not going to use my shed, and also not going to use the attic. you have your room, and the rest of the house is shared, not just for you. For people like Graham it is more difficult because they live alone and nobody can them 'no'.
Graham and Martin are such great guys, what lovely hosts as well! I love how respectful and sincere the approach is, it is so refreshing to see the results!
When he asks 'how much do you want for this' he should still try get the maximum. It's like they say '$50 bucks' and he calls his mates straight away and says 'you want this for $50 bucks' even if he knows its worth loads more.
Awe I had 2 brothers born with CF. One of them died at just 14 months old. My baby brother is still alive and he’s 46 years old. He got a bilateral lung transplant and is doing great. He’s married and living a full life. I do wonder his story in choosing CF as the recipient of a donation. Nice guy and 800$ is a good bit of extra change!
@@ladyofthecreek279 he was born in 1976 and they said he would not live to go to school. With the new nebulizer meds to break up the mucus and the possibility of transplants changed everything. He outlived our parents and everyday he’s so thankful neither of them buried another child. CF run in our genetics. Autism does as well. Not sure if or how that is related it’s just something I have noticed. Anyway he’s doing great and currently visiting Philippines at the moment 😘 I wish new lungs for every patient as the new lease on life is a miracle to behold
Beautiful and valuable antique kitchen cabinet... two grown men lounge and lean on the cabinet doors... Oy! Don't they know anything! That's the thing you really don't wanna be doing to an antique cabinet~! Ohhh the humanity! lol
And their grand plan is always to clean it fix something to "give to someone" . Don't they get people don't want their garbage. I had a friend who was a hoarder insisted on giving me a doll I didn't want - it was actually dirty and wouldn't give it to anyone. In the way home I put it in the garbage. She had watched me walk home and ran right back after me and retrieved it out of the can.
Oh, I'm kind of getting a bit stressed by thinking of the potential mold growth when they overfill their houses with things so ventilation and aircircualtion don't work as it should 😱
@@fabienneclavier5984 Yes, I recall seeing an episode of the amercan version of "Hoarders", in one hose where the "junk clearance" team discovered that the walls had started to give in.
The 'antiques dealer'? Yeah... he didn't even know the word for patina... Too bad he convinces a lot of people to sell valuable items and gets far less then half their value back. I understand there's a time crunch but still... why bother selling the valuable stuff at such a low price? Ebay it for a week and get triple!
This guy "loves bargains" the definition being saving money, except he waisted so much money buying things/bargains he doesn't even need. He turns his perfectly good money into clutter i.e., garbage Where is the logic???
That is with proper antiques maybe (i. e. items 100yrs or older). But a kitchen cupboard should also be fairly easy to keep clean and chipped or flaking paint or laquer is somewhat beyond shabby chic I'd say.
