"I did it morty, I killed the ANIME versions of ourselves!" "Aw jeez rick, how'd you do that?" "It was easy morty! They accepted their death, and they begged me to do it!"
They called it "Anime" bc investors think its hot between teens and viewers, and to get away with cutting production costs by reducing the frames per second. The western animation industry haves such a crisis of dismanagement and corporate greed it can't reach it true potential and all the budget is used in "safe" picks. Once you get a small gaze inside all the art and animation geniuses that are in the western industry, you will get depressed knowing the fact that all this inmense amount of talent and artistic vision is wasted in slop.
Yeah, it must suck making something amazing with passion and stuff and then the manager comes in and says, "nope, too complex, too hard, try being more woke and hypercasual, tone down the beauty of the female models" and stuff, i would just quit at that point and go try to find a IT job or smth
@@NoName...... Lol, i dont know much but i know some things like them not being able to sleep without having their notifications and calls on, the phones on their chest, ready to wake up, open calls and go to work even in the middle of the night and stuff, and for very low wages too, especially one piece animators, or artists whatever they are called
What's confusing to me is that R&M already had a three or four episode anime spin off (made in Japan as well) released some years ago and it was actually good and actually felt like Rick and Morty.
Nah don’t give them the satisfaction even if it ends that way it’s still shit and a lame cash grab. They should have just canceled the original show after Justin was fired
@@AE_15x has Rick and Morty's new VA adjusted to the role well enough to be indistinguishable from the original cuz I watched clips from S7E1 and I couldn't get behind the new VA for Rick when he was yelling, it just didn't sound right
Exactly! I don’t even have any desire to check it out TBH. I like anime some, but given how recent the Rick and Morty series started, and given how similar I think they’re both going to be, I just don’t have any interest.
Anime is a thing that companies introduce into an "I P" when sales/ views are down. Games do it a lot. Put in anime event to boost sales and player count.
I’ve watched 4 episodes and I have no idea what’s going on. Watching nearly 2 hours of something and having no idea what’s happening isn’t a good feeling.
Red flag when a series isn't coherent or transparent about the story it's trying to tell, only to confuse viewers in the end. Unless we're talking about time travel or mystery(which are still confusing).
@@joshuaanderson1712 Actually 4 years ago Rick and Morty had a popular short where they fought the Genocider. It has 10 million views. Sad to say, the fans asked for this, literally, since that Short I saw fans beg for a Rick and Morty Anime. This anime has the exact same character design as that Short The Short can be found on RU-vid, just look up "original Rick and Morty anime short".
@@joshuaanderson1712 I like Rick and Morty and anime And I only speak for me here but I guess some might agree Not everything needs an anime adaptation
@@mirrors8913Japanese people can, and do, enjoy Western animation the same way westerners appreciate anime. No one watches Demon Slayer or JJK thinking "Man, if only this was animated in an American style, than I could really appreciate it!"
@@jacksawack6724 True, and lots of people that write off animation as a whole as well. It really comes down to the perception of who's "supposed" to enjoy a product - And people self-excluding either by assumption that they won't enjoy something meant for those people, or because they don't want to associate themselves with those people. It's more common to say "I don't watch anything that's anime" than "I won't watch anything except anime" though - Or, at least, I think that's the case, without actually having statistics on it that I have no intention of collecting.
You hire a known convicted pdf that has drug charges, assault charges, pedo grooming of a 112 yr old what can you expect I'm surprised anyone went to see it.
Its me. The organization's attempting to liquidify my brain matter by subjecting me to multiple episodes of the horrible Rick and Morty anime. Initiate operation Astrilde in case my brain fully rots away. El. Psy. Kongroo.
I'm extraordinarily confused because no, it isn't not at all, none of the art style is anime so why do they keep calling it that I'm genuinely confused not even hating I'm just confused? Because this isn't......anime.
Based on Charlie's description, this show is basically if someone wanted to make a version of "Rick and Morty" based on the "To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand 'Rick and Morty'" meme, but taking that meme 100% seriously and with no self-awareness whatsover. Edit: lol did Charlie make this comment in his first video on this series? I forgot honestly. 😅
Has similar energy to the first few episodes of the second season of School Rumble. All of that ridiculous nonsense stretched out to what could be a full mini series just for the sake of "LOL random! We weren't kidding on the season finale!"
It’s like the person who wrote the “You need a high IQ to understand Rick & Morty” copypasta wrote this script and then animated it in one sitting with no experience and a full pallet of beer.
When I saw this for the first time, my reaction was something like this: "It looks awful, but maybe they did this on purpose because this is a parody of anime in general with references and the style of humor of Rick and Morty" I was completely wrong, I don't know who this was made for.
@@OLDMANWAFFLES Got it. I didn't know about the interaction part of the algorithm. So they purposely have it say disgusting stuff to provoke replies, wow
@@REDisKING Yeah. They find out what words are the most rage inducing things to say that aren't yet filtered by RU-vid and string together a sentence that's advertising clicks to their page in an attempt to farm their account's value by increasing views. Since they have no real talent due to just being an automatic post bot, hate clicks are easier to bait in than anything meaningful.
You are a true warrior of strength for watching past episode 1. I couldn't and didn't have the strength to even try , kudos to you and whoever else that got as far as you and to those brave few that actually try and finish the thing
The only thing missing from the anime is the random suffering for "teh lols". It's the same show but told as an anime, using anime pacing and vibes, and also the don't just murder random people for fun.
To be fair I think the creators of the show know that it's dumb, I don't think it tries to act "smart" they even make meta jokes about that in the show. It's really just a small sub set of fans who think they're geniuses from watching the show😂
The Rick and Morty anime is just one of the latest attempts to cash on the ongoing train of "western thing but anime". Scott Pilgrim, Superman, Suicide Squad, John Wick, Tomb Raider, Terminator, you name it. It's almost like the 2020s equivalent of the "thing but gritty live action reboot" trend from the 2000s. Hollywood is finally beginning to realize that a good chunk of the youth is abandoning them for Japanese anime, but instead of improving the quality of their own productions, they're trying to win the crowd back by producing more slop but with "anime" aesthetics/marketing.
@@smuggymcsmugface2142 Nice try, but basically everything you name dropped are actually good (at least the ones that are actually out, except maybe Suicide Squad).
I will say it was popular 4 years ago... But like you're not wrong though. Fans like the Genocider and Samurai Rick shorts on adult swim 4 years ago... But they were always better as shorts, and neither were widely loved by fans. I did see a lot of fans beg for an anime, but I think the haters just thought it'll never happen, so not many people spoke up against it at the time.
@@smuggymcsmugface2142tf you mean “win the crowd back?” This anime has almost nothing to do with the original creators of the show, and it’s not supposed to be a comedy either.
in the first few episodes i had a theory that storylord stole rick and mortys storytelling ability or something and the big twist is that this is why it has been so bad , but i've lost hope.
This is the man that sat through rebel moon multiple times just to count the slow mo scenes. You know you fucked up when Charlie can't finish your show.
@@TonganHalfBreed It's a similar thing with the Simpsons. The Simpsons movie would have been the perfect finale for the show, but for some reason it continues to this day. It's basically just a dead zombie, begging to be put out of it's misery. You can tell even the voice actors aren't enjoying it anymore.
crazy how 1min after the video is up (and comments were posted seconds ago) there are still so many bot responses, they really just target certain creators i guess
They seem to be targeting specifically any commentary channel with even the slightest popularity or large following. I still do not know why RU-vid is doing nothing about it. Cause a lot of channels have taken a deep dive into them finding out they are trying to link you to websites and discord servers full of CP.
Please tell me there was a Great Gazoo arc where Fred and Barney had to use the power of friendship (and dinosaurs) to destroy the eldritch abomination.
@@Mrbookworm-k4vthere is nothing about this anime that is inherently Japanese, so I don’t think it makes sense to see this as their version of Rick and Morty. Plus, the Japanese fans of Rick and Morty are just fans of Rick and Morty. Why would they need, or want, an anime that’s nothing like the show they’re a fan of?
I tried it and it is really dull and nonsensical. The only thing I like about it is the aliens don't have visible parts on them that look like reproductive organs.
...So, you're saying it's not good even though you have not watched it. You're making a judgment of quality based on a LACK of experience of the thing. Cool story bruh.
Corpos don't respect anything except the almighty dollar. They'll use and abuse whatever and whoever they think will net them more of it, including anime.
@@PyxeledGenesis that's more along the lines of what I was trying to say they don't really respect It but they know it's no longer considered "lame" to the public now.
Michael Cusack seems to be the only one at adult swim who can write a script while stoned and it be actually good. Bush world adventures as a season would have slapped
3:25 i like to imagine that it’s actually a meta commentary on how English dubs try to match the words to the character talking but since it can get a little lost in translation sometimes they have to just add voice filler to get to sync up with the mouth movement/animation at least that’s my headcanon with the terrible dialogue in this show (aka my cope)
Okay but it would be insane if the last episode ends with the screen shutting off and the family (from proper Rick and Morty) sitting on the couch and staring at the TV in utter shock and offense before they all start ranting about how awful it was (I can see Jerry being the only one not saying anything bad about it because he actually enjoyed it) The joke still wouldn’t make it worth watching, but it would actually make some sense for just how almost purposefully BAD it is
I find it wild that they don't just have a sketch comedy show set in the universe using Interdimensional Cable. You have the same art and actors, just use it for an absurdist comedy
This show might go the way of Zilla in the Godzilla-verse where the show and/or its characters have a brief cameo in the Rick and Morty cartoon to be killed off in the most embarrassing/ignoble way possible all the while being made fun of.
Fr. Rick and morty is one of my favorite cartoons. Up there with South park and archer and American dad/family guy. How tf is rick and morty WITHOUT COMEDY even a thing!?
tbh i accidentally closed out the vid when you gave an example of the script out of boredom. It was just a single line and my body rejected the noise on its own. Truly awe-inspiring how dull something connected to Rick and Morty could be. Also just a hunch that it was made for the "You have to be intelligent to understand" joke from over half a decade ago. Edit: I also wanna add that the show can be saved if the entire season was to be treated as an episode where new girl is making Rick see these visions instead of reality, and episode 5 is another of those visions.
The idea of someone whose memory is of the future and has no notion of anything that has happened in the past could be an insane premise for a good writer to do something with.
I just realised that this basically happens in Homestuck, when Karkat is talking to John. Karkat only knows the future while he interacts with John in the 'opposite direction of time'.
Doing it at a small scale, where you have a conversation between two people that remember opposite sides, timewise, of what's being said would be pretty hard to pull off in a non-confusing way. In a general sense, where two characters have individual interactions where time goes in the same direction for both of them but then they return to experiencing time in opposite directions, that's a pretty good premise to work with - My mind immediately goes to the River Song storyline of Doctor Who, where we see her born and we see her die, and a whole lot in between, but not in that order.
2:17 If you wanna watch a real anime that those things like with a disjointed story line jumps around time and events but those it really well go watch Baccano.
it all feels like someone tried to make a robot Justin Roiland and told it to do what the real one usually did but because it didn't know that Justin didn't actually get drunk during making the episode and so it just blurted out a bunch of randomly generated sentences and put line 1 and line 3092 together with line 2903 and line 5 together
I finally gave up on Rick and Morty after Season 6 when they fired Justin Roiland. Some people gave up on the series sooner. If you have the original person who created the show thrown out, the spirit of the show is lost. I'm not here to defend Justin Roiland, but neither do I support a company that utterly hates one of its own creators either.
He was kicked but the script was already there next season will be the first truly without him. Idk actually if 7 was fully without him but 6 was fully made by him.
