Intro was epic 🔥 this video was a banger Dan. Editing/ drone shots and a an unbelievable catch. I know the work that goes into making these vids man. Keep up the great work. I was hyped.
What a tank..It's good to see i'm not the only one who gets that excited about the hook up. Every time my adrenaline sky rockets...Then the calm takes over to land the fish. What I love the most is the serenity and "what I call art work" is the beautiful colors of these fish. that's what life is all about..enjoying GOD's creations and releasing them back for another angler to enjoy.
Good fish my friend! How rare it is these days to have a spot all to yourself, good for you. I've got a spot or two that I almost always have to myself over in VT as well; probably one of the reasons like yourself, I fish alone.
What a great video Dan! ! ! I loved the drone footage, I loved the music when that "brute" entered your net. You are such a good fisherman Dan. I am wondering two things. First, what was that trout eating to get that big? Second, the water looked very clear. At first I thought you might have had 5X tippet, but then I thought maybe you were using 4X because you did not seem concerned about that giant breaking you off. Can you tell us was it 5X or 4X?
It was 5X. I think the big girl eats OTHER TROUT! truly remarkable weight and size. Bwo nymphs don’t grow a trout like that! I’m sure she would eat a chipmunk if she had the opportunity!
I hear you man. Early AM key right now it seems. My trip last weekend wasn’t very good. Caught a couple nice ones on my own. Guided float was a total beat down! I’m so ready to be moved to CT this month!!
Yes man. I’ll b doing rain dance. My objective is to catch a monster on dry fly by end of this year. I’m hoping we can tackle farmy together this season!
I know this river and it can be very difficult but it’s worth a trip. There are a couple world class rivers in this area. Quick addendum on the opening sentiment…while fly fishing is a lifelong learning process (like any worthwhile activity), it’s not as difficult as you’d think to get started. My brother started well into his 30s, he was regularly catching trout on his own by season 2 and several years in, he’s undoubtedly a competent fly fisherman already with hundreds of trout under his belt. So while anything worth pursuing is difficult and a lifelong journey, don’t be afraid to take the first step. It’s not as bad as you think it’s gonna be…especially with the incredible gear and resources we have nowadays that I could never have *dreamed of* as a young kid in the 90s when I started.
Dan - great job - you said you link to the flies you are using during the clip but I don’t see them listed. I heard River Soldier and Stonefly - barbless for catch and release - but don’t see sizes - Thanks again.
Well, finally!! You two reunited! And as I’ve been told along long time ago, the early bird does get the worm, but in your case 2 amazingly large tank browns and almost a third. I swear your a big fish hunter , just like the way you hunt Whitetails. Love everything about this video!! Your best one yet! Drone, music , all put together perfectly. I gotta stop jawing do I can rewatch this yet again. Great job Dan! Reunited and I feel so good!! Haha!
Hey! Man I wish I could help! That’s wayyyyyy up there haha! Unfortunately I only touch the bottom parts of Vermont maybe about as far as Manchester. But…. If I had to guess…just about everything up there should have trout. My advice would be to look over maps and maybe pick a watershed that has lots of feeder creeks and maybe hit some spots higher up in the system as the peak of summer may have some of them larger fish working there way up into colder water. Good luck!
@@DownstreamDownrange only one guy caught one there, we were staying in Keene right next to the river and I had one take the whole time, the guys at the Hungary trout said they were suprised I even got a bite in that area
What river is this? I live in the Catskills and was just curious. And I have plenty of local rivers that are just fine. I'm not traveling so you don't have to worry about me blowing your spot up.
For this particular watershed it likely a fish of a lifetime. Of course I could drive over to the Delaware and probably get something over 2 feet! But for this river I was stoked !
@@DownstreamDownrange Your fishing game is on 🔥. I think I was at that river last weekend on the NY side. Didn’t get to fish it but it looked beautiful. If you are planning to fish the WB D between June 16-23 let me know. I will be there for a full week. Maybe exchange some notes. I hooked 7 last weekend but lost every single one without any break offs. Finally realized the point on the hook was probably dull, had been using that fly for 3 years. So stupid 😩 . When I finally sharpened the hook they stopped rising. 😂
Love the new video tech. amp up that bass guitar jam! Sure beats the old days footage of Farmington fly shop guides, rushing at you, talkin' anal/bipolar Nutmeg shit. So get out to the 'Skills at 5:30, and just flail away. ALONE. And look what happens. Because you were there. (cue the birdsong).
