It's about time we got back to the Oak Challenge! But to make it more difficult, let's do the ultimate challenge. Shiny Pokemon only. Can I save my sanity and complete this in a reasonable amount of time? Well lets see as I complete the Ruby and Sapphire Professor Oak's Challenge! In case you havent heard of it or didn't see it during your research for this project, there is a bot doing a shiny living dex professor's oak in emerald being run by this guy named 40 cakes. The bot has been stuck on the 2nd 1% seedot for over a year now. Also great video love seeing all the shiny frames and what not.

Wow! What an amazing accomplishment. However, points off for not getting the shiny rayquaza in the singular luxury ball from the abandoned ship for style points. lol. currently messing around with rng manip in pokemon emerald, really cool to see something like this. Only just past gym 3 but considering restarting for better shiny frames, my closest ones are at 8k frames +, is it worth trying to specific trainer ID's and restarting?

I did a similar thing, but with Emerald, and only started doing so at Mauville, which is where we get the daycare/eggs. I didn't use any predictors, but knew how the game worked, so I bred Abras until I had all 25 natures. Using synchronize, I took each nature out for a spin, using the acro bike and jumping in place, until I found a shiny within then first 20 encounters. I must say, synchronize makes hitting certain shiny frames really easy, whereas for others it doesn't help at all (and there is some weird interaction where synchronize helped me hit a shiny frame of a nature that is NOT the nature of the Abra)! Using this trick, I finally got a save where I had 2 shiny frames within the first 10+ encounters or so and just went hopping in each area (resetting once I knew it was past 15 encounters), getting 2 shinies off of each. The crazy thing was that I tried for Feebas---(the timing of the fishing bites is completely unpredictable, making it terrible for the said method), and got it after HUNDREDS of tries.

With rnging you can get a cute charm glitch in heartgold and through the pokewalker you can get a jiggly puff before the first gym, letting you get shinies 1/5 times making it a little less annoying to do this in hgss. In the future for the safari zone, you can also just change the time to 11:59 and when it turns to 12:01 am, it counts as a day and you can do this all 100 times :) Would love to see this in hgss though as I’m currently going for a shiny living dex using rng in gen 4

I still remember my first shiny, I was playing the emerald post game running around meteor falls trying to find the room bagon spawned in since I had no access to the internet and only had the paper game guide. When I found that green zubat, had no idea what it was till I was in the post game of platinum and learned about shinies, I still have it evolved into a crobat by accident, since as a dumb kid I didn’t know how friendship evo’s worked and had it happen on its own while training golbat.

fun fact, if your going to the pokecenter to heal, cure, and/or restore pp for 1 mon, it is faster to put it in the box and take it back out as putting a pokemon in the box will restore everything (to my knowledge this only applies from gen 3 to gen 6 maybe gen 5 is the last gen, im not too surethe exact range but i know its in gens 3, 4, and 5)

In fire red you have to use a Luma script since the rng in that game is always random so it's impossible to manipulate it without that tool

I didn't know rng manip for shiny catching was so complicated, years ago I did a trade with someone who rngd shinies from hgss for some breed mons back when I was obsessed with breeding to match pokeballs and the apricorn/dream balls were harder to get

You can hit the frames easier with a mon with synchronize just capture one with the nature you want the shiny and you'll have more chances of getting a shiny with the nature of the synchonize mon

Ehh, probably wise to just do some research into Trainer/Secret ID combos that have early shiny frames for all encounter slots so you don't have to wait that long between encounters.

As a self described nerd, you should have referred to pie as 3.1416 instead of 3.1415 as it rounds up and will give more accurate calculations, as a continuation of the sequence of pie is 3.14159265358979
