Alabama burning doors really cool work! I may have them do an Arctic Grayling after I fish for them in AK next year. It's all catch and release so it would be a cool remembrance of the adventure.
7:35 Ha, when I was kid learning to fish for bluegill, I left my rod on the small pier with the line between the boards while my mom took a picture. Went to pick up my rod and there was a fish on the other end, too big to fit between the boards. Took another picture (disposable film in those days) and cut it loose.
Brandon, you make me so homesick for the Gulf coast!! I lost my condo in Long Beach Mississippi of 20 years to good old Katrina. I miss fishing the Gulf and the back bays and so enjoy watching your videos. Congrats for the win!!! 🇨🇦🎣👏
Sheeps are some of the best eating fish in the water. We tend to catch a few of them when we’re doing some winter/early spring fishing for state water snapper. When trout and redfish weren’t biting well, I used to take people to whack em on a sunken ship by our North Jetty. It was a blast to watch people fighting them.
I agree! And I do the same as well, most times I’ll give the trout and redfish ago first thing in the morning and almost always fall back on sheepshead. I love catching them as well
Congrats my dude 👌🏻 Do y’all get those fuggly ass red and black sheepshead like we get out here in Southern California? I went out giggin flounder when I was in Florida last month and we got a couple of those convicts. Nowhere near as big as those ones you were landing. Maybe 16-17” but damn tasty. They call the ones we get out here “poor man’s lobster” and they’re not kidding. Flavor and texture is pretty darn close. Thanks for another fun video 🫡
Nothing like y’all’s West Coast sheepshead in the Gulf. I believe East Coast tautog are pretty similar though. You have to go pretty far up the Atlantic Coast to see them though.
@@CaptCollier I’ve fished for SH @ Cape Canaveral in the winter and they love those crabs! They also love the barnacles that you can scrape off the piling of piers and bridge pilings too! I’ve also used canned clams or oysters, that come in cans like sardines, but had mixed results with them. It seems like some days they only want a certain bait and ignore everything except what they want that particular day. Nice SH though! Very good eating!
THAT HOOKSET THOUGH!...I dont know what it is about Sheepshead but thats my favorite type of fishing. Damn, tons of monsters out there but the luck of that hookset I was like that was of them there Gamakatus hooks. Excellent video as always but you can never go wrong with sheepshead fishing.
Gotta puncture that hook in that crazy mouth of theirs haha I give it all I got. And thanks can’t wait for the cooler weather and sheep season to comeback
There was a category for most release over 20” fish. Also, those are the big females that carry thousands of eggs. I prefer to let those go so they can spawn
Mannnn brooo. What a fire trophy. Fuck a cup trophy but like some straight artwork like that is so fire.. that sheep had to be 24 right? Like that was a girthy girl. I fish a lot in st. Augustine. I wreck the reds. I know where the goliaths stay, snook (certain times) and tarpon are about to run super hard.
I don’t gotta a boat so I gotta do everything by spots I can access by foot. Lemme get a boat and I could change the game around my area. I need to get on a boat 😪
