My European bucket list fish has finally been checked off. And it's a really solid one at that.

the zander is 100% dead. they are super sensitive,always use a net,be quick when u release it and when its bleeding like that,take it with you. congrats to the catch

I couldn’t keep the fish because I was traveling and didn’t have the tools necessary to eat it. Same reason for no net. I felt bad but the single hook that sits upward on the lure flipping upside down and puncturing the artery under the tongue was out of my control. The least I could do was be honest about the mortality of the fish.

They’re closely related, but Zander are not Walleye. Zander are native only in Europe and Walleye in North America.
