I don't know what's funnier: the fact that you were a man of your word and brought a level 1 Lechonk for winning game 1, or the fact that the level 1 Lechonk unironically won you the game by denying the one and only turn sustain ape needed to reverse sweep you.
Also gotta give him respect for that Rhythm Thief music as the comments about Lechonk were rolling in. That Phantom took the L out of its name and replaced it with a W.
I came here wondering what maddening tactic was going to make for a LVl1 Lechonk legendary sweep....but this is somehow better. A lvl1, nothing special, run of the mill Lechonk being a key switch in piece to help further the strategy.
Amazing. A level 1 Lechonk, which by all rights should have been a millstone weighing you down, ended up saving the day. It's like losing your arm, then having it suddenly come out of nowhere to punch your opponent in the face at a critical moment.
Honestly, I think the fact that temp brought stall in the generation that possibly gutted stall the hardest since Gen 5 AND then stuck a Lechonk on the same team says everything you need to know about their victory
@@SaskiaTaunted Smogon's only banned a very small handful of things, the tier system is simply meant to sort Pokemon based on how good they are to ensure both players' teams are relatively balanced - even Ubers is its own tier that's actively played. It's so that if you _want_ to run a team of Sableye, Gogoat, Flareon, Ariados, Dedenne and Dachsbun (All ZU tier Pokemon considered not-viable in any main format), you're not forced to have to go up against a team of Gholdengo, Kingambit, Dragapult, Great Tusk, Iron Valiant and Ogrepon-Wellspring. Right now, the only thing in AG tier (the only _actual_ ban list) is Calyrex-Shadow. Some tactics are banned, but mostly things like boosting evasion, putting more than one Pokemon to sleep, running OHKO moves and forcing an infinite battle. Some of the lower tiers have additional rules and clauses.
@@Black_RoseGaming Honestly, that makes sense. Smogon players have literally no ability whatsoever to win an uphill battle to the point of nonstop bitching to ban anything that causes them to ever struggle slightly. Pretty sure that not a single one of these OU council mods could survive 1 single hour in the console handheld's 6v6s where tiering doesn't exist, always being put up against mons that they reaction-ban on the spot (they would weep at the sight of so many Flutter Manes, Palafins, and Zacians rather than adapt). These people are so comically inadequate that they actually considered banning Terastallization (the literal only gimmick so far that doesn't increase stats in any way) because they can't handle not knowing a possible Tera type to the point of posting Tera types. Which is hilariously ironic because there's almost no variance in Tera type assignment when it comes to meta play anyways so anyone who spends an hour or so just seeing what everyone is copy-pasting would/could know exactly what everyone else is running without that notice (literally every non-dragonite dragon type runs Tera Steel for example, and Dragonite always runs Tera Normal). Hell, Temp6t has a reputation as a match fixer...and these Smogon council clowns can't beat who they see as a match fixer even when he imposes a self-inflicted, massive handicap. If that's not the most Smogon thing Smogonites could blunder into, i don't know what is.
When they say "is that stall" and he skipped a beat as if to say "yes" it was great. Small details like that are the ones that make me remember how you got this big. You're awesome. Thanks for the video. Have a good rest of your day.
This is the pokemon showdown content I've been waiting for. What an epic tale. Thanks to everyone who made this possible, and thanks to temp6t, ausma, and the editor especially
This was a funny sweep to watch. I especially loved the SpongeBob stall montage, the Corviknight meme, and the part where you explain what's happening with Annihilape before switching to Lechonk so Annihilape can't get HP from Drain Punch.
This is what Pokemon battles are supposed to be. All it takes is understanding common strategies and working around them to create a genuinely harmonious team.
He didn't die for glory, or for honor, or for the cause. He died doing what he loved. Welcome back, and what a return it is! The memes, walls of texts from people who may or may not know what's about to happen to them, the shenanigans, and of course, the stellar music choices. Great to have you back. I've always found Smogon a mixed bag. I find the tips and "builds" somewhat useful, but I equally find the "presence" it creates a bit of a stick up it's own ass. It's created a thought process of "if it isn't by smogon rules/logic, it's bad", and I get that everywhere. Similarly, a lot of times, I find smogon builds ONLY useful against smogon counters, when I'm just looking for a good build. So I end up just taking inspiration from them, not taking them as gospel, which I'd like to think is the healthy way to look at it.
Not to mention that most of smogen's tourneys are still almost always singles when even at least half or more of official tourneys have been doubles for at least the past two or three generations and there's even talk by officials to retire singles.
@@PrismaAce It's been a while since I've seriously followed the competitive scene, but there used to be singles format. But that should underline my point even more with Smogon still insisting on having singles as their default format.
@@MrInternetHermit there is BSS, but theres no official circuit i think you misunderstand, because smogon exists BECAUSE there is no singles circuit, and BSS is genuinely horrible also smogon doubles does exist as well, it is very different from VGC but its fun in its own right
hey, you should probably link replays in these video descroptions; i think all parties would benefit from full battle replays it improves legitimacy, accessibility, and contextual reliability (something the whole showdown community has been on your ass for for years) and it allows people who can't stand the memes to just enjoy watching the simplicity of the battle, and fully appreciate the actual content of the video
It's easy to forget with all the memes and rage baiting, but Temp6t is legitimately great at this game. The lechonk play makes me wonder what niche intentionally low HP mons could have. Shuckles low HP stat, especially combined with Sturdy, could allow it to be used for similar drain blocking stats while also being able to support, though youd probably still get more value out of an underleveled magic bounce or prankster
When you brought the lechonk I thought “it would be funny if there was no plan or cheese Strat and this was unironically just a dead slot on his team” *Turns out that WAS the plan*
This is insane. I've been playing Pokémon since I was a kid with the originals and to think how complex competitive can get with the predictions and setting up. I could never get into it
Lechonk was like Bungee Gum in this game. It had the properties of both rubber AND gum. That is to say, it snapped their ass back into their place and stuck himself into our hearts.
I know the plan with Lechonk was to endeavor quick attack sweep the rest of his team after ape died, but the fact that you used it unironically to stop the ape sweep is the biggest play I've ever seen from one of these videos. Good show man, jolly good show
i love watching your content, and to see this happen with what was riding on this best of 3 made me very happy. congrats on the win! keep up the amazing content!
loved the dramatic explanation for lechonk's sacrifise! about the rest of the video, this is just my subjective opinion, but i think sometimes less editing is more. i've always liked the well-placed sound effects and the occasional visual edit for emphasis, but staying zoomed in on the pokemon a lot of the time felt a little crowded, and i tend to actually read the showdown battle text to make sure i don't miss out on an important development. the basic zoomed out view itself is interesting as long as there's game to see!
That lechonk swap was peak aizen lvl stratagem, also downright heroic of lechonk, almost could see/hear it in my head Lechonks swapped in and the music plays "I can be your hero baby"
