As much as I don't get Vauxhall's at all, I agree with this. The others are proper RU-vidrs in the literal sense, but it's not exactly within most people's reach!

It depends. Anywhere from 800 euros to 1.5k. I live in Bulgaria and a friend mechanic can do my valves, head gasket and segments for 800 euros max. My engine is the 1.8 x18xe1 by the way. If you open the engine, change everything and find a guy who knows how to rebuilt engines. I was on the edge of changing my valve seals, because I had bad fuel economy and it was working shaky, but I started with the simpler things. I cleaned the EGR valve, my throttle body, the MAF sensor and I did an engine flush. If you think you have a lot of carbon build up, do like I did. I flushed the engine twice and I used Amsoil engine flush and oil. I also changed my oil sooner after the first time to clean most of the crud. After the second time my car is working like a swiss clock! The valves and top cylinders were probably carboned from all these years and now its night and day.

The stem seals are 50£ and you can do it yourself so with the tools and without taking the head off not much more than 100-150£

Courtney Sport had the best price for genuine GM ones, at least compared to my local Vauxhall dealer, come in proper GM packaging.

Most of the wear occurs on the valve guides
