For those who weren't born yet (or missed out) when i Channel was around on Sky Cable, this should give you an idea of what it looked like. It's an entire clip of the sponsors, up next, bumpers, station ID, and finally part of the feature show itself (Felix The Cat).
Sky Cable was the only major CATV provider in the early 90s, and the lineup was limited and largely so-so. This, along with Star Plus/World, were the only channels worth a damn for kids. They didn't have Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, AXN, or any of the decent UHF options yet.

Looking back, I think we confused Babar with Arthur. Or maybe i Channel aired both?

Can confirm that i Channel used to carry Arthur. That was where my sibs and I first saw that animated series.

Naalala ko nung naging "uso" ang Felix the cat. Pinadalhan ako ng lola ko ng VHS tapes ng lahat ng movies ng Felix The Cat from the U.S

Nice! I remember hearing about this channel, pero matagal na syang wala nung time na nagpakabit yung magulang ko ng cable (which was around 1998).

Looking at the Sunday schedules, it looks like the i Channel has more cartoons most of Filipinos had never heard about before, including Sonic the Hedgehog and Marvel Action Hour. Those were one of many shows that had never before seen on free TV, even on UHF. This leads me into a theory that ABS-CBN bought rights to many of these shows, but never show it on their main channel (they feed it to Sky Cable and Studio 23) so that the competitors can't get that show, unless if the rights were expired or something.

@@undustfixation Actually, According to Wikipedia: "When the Fantastic Four property was made into an animated series in 1978, the character of the Human Torch was unable to be used as, at the time, the character had been optioned separately for use in a solo film (which never materialized)."

the first time I watched Babar was on Kids Co, a channel exclusively for SkyCable subscribers amidst dropping Solar channels in 2008

2:03 Ahh, Peter Pan...as far as I can remember yan yung American English dubbed version ng Peter Pan No Bouken na inere din sa ABS-CBN at around the same time. Yun namang pinakita sa A2Z Channel 11 nung 2021-2022, weekdays at 4:30pm ay yung original Japanese version na Tagalog-dubbed.

So Kid Central ran from 7 am to 6 or 6:30 pm? Then 6 or 6:30 onwards was for the "adult"/main programming of i-Channel? So they were like the counterpart of Cartoon Network and TNT/TCM back in the day. And just out of curiosity, since they had ads and TVCs even if they were a cable channel, where does the income or money from the ads goes to? Does it go to Sky or to their main finance office in ABS CBN?

Kids Central is a little tricky because in-between some time slots (11am-3pm) some non-kids show still air like Frugal Gourmet and Homeworks. Revenue most likely goes to ABS-CBN since Sky Cable is just under them.

This was possibly the only time we knew Shining Time Station aired in the country (Shining Time Station was an American tv show that lasted from 1989-1994, and was the USA's introduction to Thomas and Friends. Funnily enough, in America, it aired on PBS, which is free to watch, in the Philippines, you could access it from I Channel, which is a cable network, this was possibly the first introduction of the Thomas and Friends franchise in the country)

Appreciate this neat trivia! i Channel was a huge loss and irreplaceable. I don't think there ever was a local channel that followed with the same ethos of cartoons and learning.

May ganito palang channel before, 1999 kami ngpakabit cable kaya Cartoon Network at Nick inabot ko. Wondering why the channel closed or reformatted given na cartoons nung 90s are big hits.

Redundancies. Some of their cartoons are on other channels like Star World, CTV31, then dumating na rin CN and Nick shortly. May mga foreign channels din sila na nagpapakita ng cartoons and anime like one from Indonesia (forgot the name) and Club Dorothee (French). They have plenty of shows na wala sa iba, though, like their educational lineup (yung mga 321 Contacts and Richard Scarrys), but I guess that wasn't profitable enough.

@undustfixation thanks po, always tuned in on your page for nostalgia purposes. Also aside from the channels you've mentioned, RJTV 29 and Citynet 27 have plenty of cartoons as well.

@@undustfixationI remember Cartoon Network airing "Little Lulu Show", then the following year, or I think two years later, i-Channel aired it too. Which makes me wonder how they got the rights. But aside from the reasons you have mentioned, I guess ABS CBN wanted to invest more in Studio 23, to live up to its "Premium Channel" tagline. Kasi yan din yung panahong nag full blast original programming at naging "pang masa" na ang Channel 2. Kumbaga, yung Channel 23 yung naging "pang burgis".
