P8S - the last fight in the Abyssos tier in Final Fantasy XIV - is one of the hardest savage raids in a long time. Can a single angry Lalafell brave the randos of Party Finder to clear the fight? Yes... but at what cost?
yes! exactly this!.. going in with 1st timers is a huge difference and a totally different experience! (than getting carried with 7 orher, who have cleared it multiple times) ... sure, occasionally, when you're starting to burn out in a zillion trap kill parties, having one or two with kill experience can be welcomed, .. but that should be the exception (if at all.. , and not getting carried by 7 pros,... its like if beating every Dark Souls boss, with summoned players, that know the boss by heart.., the struggle, experience and earned kill feeling are not the same..)
The secret I found through like 10-11 hour runs every night on the weekend was the best people on NA are trying to do it at like 4 AM for some reason, for P7S we had someone from the UK playing with us lol.
Lol funny you mention that. I'm singaporean playing on Primal, and I usually do my reclears at 6-7am my time to catch the NA evening crowd, but this week I decided to jump straight in the moment reset rolled over. I usually parse blue/green on DNC. This week I found a chad party with an absolutely amazing SAM. We pumped so hard, we were skipping mechanics left and right and I walked away with a high purple and two oranges. Felt like sending the lot of them, especially the SAM, a thank you note lmao.
Finally got my clear on this last night, i can see why Cider Spider favors this fight so much, even during the learning process… the fight is hella fun! Especially phase 2.
I was thinking about doing this for the mount. I do have a couple of questions tho 1. Is the mount really a 100% drop now how does that work 2. I have 660 gear that is not melded is that good enough to do this raid 3. And how should I go about starting this should I use party finder or just que for it ?
@@itachistorm4774 to answer your first question, yes savage mounts are always guaranteed. To your second, 660 is the highest EW gear but if you want to be efficient unsynced now that DT is out, you may wanna level to 100 and get gear to like say… 705 minimum and as for your third: use party finder ^^
Hi, we cleared this tier week 1 with my static, and the first thing we though was "Damn this fight is straight up savage (no puns intended) this thing is going to be a N.I.G.H.T.M.A.R.E in PF." There's no way i would have the patience to clear it the way you did. You and all the players who kills this in PF, have my utmost respect , you guys are beasts 💪
Cleared this fight roughly towards the end of the tier and it was absolutely dreadful. Me and my bf decided to join a static after being stuck on the first sunforge for over 4 hours and then we got stuck on snake 2 for a whole week with the static. After that, we just decided to prog P2 outside of the static because even when we got there, the static was progging tank stance... Funny enough, we cleared p8s roughly 2 weeks after starting the prog and we left our static and decided to reclear on PF, which at that point was still even more pain due to... well yeah, snake 1/2 and NA1/2 memes. Overall it was a fun fight and can't wait to get to P12S this tier!
I won't lie I did indirectly cause a few wipes in kill parties by chasing people into th bads on HC while trying to make the lucky tree, the sheer fear of the tree just made it even more tempting
@@infamousincubus2888 Yea the gearing is utter dog in this game, made me quit aswell last tier. This one I got lucky and got the coffer and week later chest so I stayed. But if I would've gotten nothing I wouldn't play anymore either
@@chaoseater999 P5S was hard for the first two weeks due to conflicting partyfinder strats, P6S was hard for the first 4 weeks due to conflicting strats and people not being able to do copacabana or trying to cheese it with LB3 and still getting 4-6 damage downs. P7S is hard because you need to stay awake for 4-5 minutes before the actual fight begins.
@@Null_Experis P7S's actual mechanics are at the final third of the fight so when you wipe there with pf people will be reluctant to continue due to """wasting time""". P3S was its own goddamn tier, I sincerely belive the developers forgot that they were still at the first tier. And it's masochistic to do P8S without a predetermined group.
@@Null_Experis Put PF in and everything is hard. Cleared 5s on launch with 14 deaths. 6s with 11 deaths. 7s within a few weeks u just start skipping half the bs coz its so backloaded. 8s was legit the only hard fight in the whole tier. But if u compare with PF, then yeah, PF was stuck on devour prog for all 5s kill parties for weeks
It's honestly crazy how the difficulty from 5s-7s jumped up to extreme levels of hell on 8s where even 1 small mistake can wipe the party. Cleared this with a static and we struggled a lot and I can not imagine doing this on PF because of how reliant on teamwork this fight requires.
Honestly SE should've made 6s and 7s harder. It's not enough of a wall and now we have people that think they're pro raiders trapping everyone in Snake 1 parties
As someone who has progged and cleared this both in PF on an alt AND in a static: Less team work, more precision. I don't need to have met any of my party mates before to clear this fight. But this fight has a very large number of 8/8 mechanics, by which I mean all 8 people need to be alive and executing their part of the mech correctly or there's a wipe/so many deaths or damage downs it's difficult to recover. If every person makes 1 mistake every 8 pulls and you're unlucky enough for your "good" runs to just never align, you basically never clear. This fight is where you come to the realization that a 90% personal accuracy rate actually isn't all that good. The fight is hard, and PF struggles, no question, but it struggles in the _exact same way_ that the average casual static struggles Contrast to say, P3S, where PF experience was noticeably worse than a static experience, in large part because of the number of spreads. In a static, you get used how each member of the party moves and where they tend to go. In PF, you can't do that, and PF is _extremely_ bad at yolo spreading. The joke was that PF strat was basically "pray for stack". It wasn't really a joke because that was how the majority of my clears were obtained, just getting a run that was mostly stacks instead of spreads.
I did this fight week 2 with my static, and we've cleared it together every week up until 2 resets ago. I decided to head into PF to try my hand and played a harrowing game of Russian roulette. It took me 5 straight days of 4hr playtime windows JUST in p8 to finally clear. This fight specifically is an ABSOLUTE nightmare in PF.
If you're reaper and get NA's immediately use your shield to put a regen effect on both NAs and it will even be up for a second time while still in NA. Then once the 60 second burst window hits pop bloodbath and do your burst. It makes it a lot easier for healers.
@@dadkwashere ah yes and all of us definitely pick what class we want to play based on what some sweaty tryhard on the internet is going to declare as having a "big brain rotation"
@@Venessialato To be fair, I've met quite a few players that when starting out the game ask "ok, so whats the easiest job to play". That's not all of them but a decent chunk. Like I remember in Shb pf, the people that sucked the most at mechanics were a lot of the time physical ranged cause they were considered to be easy beginner jobs.
The absolute mad lad. Normally, I 'd say clearing in PF isn't that bad, but this fight proved that PF is where ambition goes to die. The fact you stuck it out and got the clear? Massive. Well done.
For me it was p4s, after that I vowed to never do the 4th raid of any tier raid ever again. Tried p8s a few times and it was mind numbingly bad so I just do 5-7 every week. I really wish I could do p8s but I have not the time nor the patience anymore. The only 4th raid I ever did was e12s when it was relevant (joined the game during ShB), I had so much fun on pf but idk I feel like Endwalker just plagued us with very bad raiders who are not considerate at all of people's time. With a savage this bad I dread to think how ultimates fare.
I honestly find some fun people in pf so I enjoy it tbh but it can be time consuming and sometimes you won’t get that one and done clear. But that’s something you have to accept if you do PF. When you’re working full time and have loads of other duties outside of work but still want to try the savage fights, PF might be your only chance.
bruuuuh you clearly didn't experience the e8s when it was released at it's time, p8s is a cake compared to what refulgence savage was. And i'am not even gonna fo further back into alexander savage raids
20:03 "Generally speaking if you get to Dominion you're ready to clear the fight. I certainly was... FOR TWO WEEKS" The amount of PTSD this triggered within me... had to join a reclear party to get that clear
I do really like some of the mechanics that go into the savage tiers like on paper a lot of them just seem neat and in character/lore But... *GOD . . . DAMN*
I will say, I did this whole tier in party finder. Week 1 I cleared p5-p7. I went into p8 and finally cleared about a week ago, I had to take a month off because party finder made me want to die (: the end. I AM A PF WARRIOR AND WILL CONTINUE TO HATE MYSELF AS A PARTY FINDER SAVAGE RAIDER.
Same, I cleared p5-p7 week 1 and then stopped playing the game due to uni. Came back last week and the PF has transformed from helpful and competent groups to 4K planet of the apes premieres
@@LittleSparklingStars The first half of the last fight is worse than the previous tier. The 2nd half is a joke in comparison, and far easier to deal with.
To be fair, Euphrosyne is easy even if you don't do Savage... I mean, one of Halone *and* Menphina's major mechanics is "doing two attacks simultaneously and only creating one safe pizza slice," which is something everybody's already done on the *first* boss in Malikah's Well.
@@InfamousResult You must be thinking of Qitana Ravel. Malikah's 1st boss is the armadillo thing and I don't think that guy has any pizza slice mechanics.
I'm gonna need to personally request you make guides cuz I learned more about this fight from the first 3 and a half minutes of this video than I did watching any of other videos I could find. You are a hero.
“But because we’re in PF your going to greed that last weave and freeze your entire party instead.” I haven’t played ff14 in months but that quote brought up repressed memories 😅
I do every tier and ultimates only via pf xD I love the hate PF gets, but the bigger issue is the waiting time to create a group. But clearing via PF is pretty decent, I prefer it over statics cause I can play on my own terms/breaks. 5-7 took me 3-4 days via pf, p8s almost 2 weeks tho xD But great video man!
I knew you through your "mad cuz small" videos, but you've really hit the nail on the head with these not-guides. Very entertaining, and I'd legit listen to you talk about anything. Best of luck man!
P8S = old Ultimate difficulty level, just shorter (& occasionally more forgiving).., this is the hardest savage tier from a mechanical aspect, in years / since multiple expansions
big respect for what you went through, at least we got an amazing video out of it! i think this style of "fight review" is the best. Perfect amount of humor and infotainment; very well done my dude!
I got my 8th pf clear this week, after my static quit during p8s-1… it was a challenging experience, and frustrating, but I feel I became a better player after having put myself through it
A note on the part 1 tankbussys: those are a tank swap, not aggro spot 1/2 based. If OT doesn't voke, MT dies. If MT doesn't voke, OT dies. If either tank dies to torches or sunforge, the other tank dies
Yeah, that part was a little poorly worded cause I was thinking of a specific example from very early prog where the MT would die before the OT had stance on, which would lead to the melee getting tankbusted. It used to happen constantly back in week 2 lol
So, I don't play FFXIV, and I don't really have much understanding of most things that were explained in this video, however, I guess I just have to not suck and I'll be a god at this game. Highly informative, and entertaining
My memory always goes blank doing progress when I most need to remember something, this happens until I about 6/10 good attempt going through set mechanics. Which Is a main reason why I haven't tried any savages yet let alone ultimates, hate the thought of potentially wasting peoples time. Hopefully someday In the future I'll have mustered abit more courage to give these difficulties a try, love the fights themselves.
Tip for anyone still progging or planning to for future raids: Enrage Prog is not a thing unless very early in the last fight of the tier. The reason you see so many memes in enrage parties is because the only reason they are seeing enrage is because of all the deaths on early mechanics. Avoid these groups like the plague.
This fight is very taxing on the healers, specially Phase 2 and specially for shield healers (speaking from experience). I have one more P8S reclear with my static (which should happen today) and then I won't touch a savage until 6.4. I appreciate the challenge, but I need some rest now.
If P8S didn't have 2 separate timelines for raid buffs in phase 1 then it wouldn't be such an awful fight tbh. But getting Centaur first is just... garbage for damage.
as someone who also cleared P8S via party finder (on EU tho so we had funny markers and raidplans), yeah P8S was the worst part of the grind, especially P1 (as usually the P2 pain was off-set for me absolutely loving the fight), especially since as i am a BLM main though not gonna lie, and i'm not sure if this goes for anyone else, but a lot of my deaths in both phases was because of me panicking and overthinking some mechanics when things really were just simple what did help was having chill people who i was raiding with most of the time, getting to shoot the shit with people is always pretty fun
Cleared Mount Ordeals Extreme in PF only but it was my first real challenge ever in this game so it is I who was slow and thank everyone who stuck it out as I learned! So so grateful for practice groups in PR.
Not to down you or anything, but mount ordeals is very low difficulty for an extreme, if you want a harder one and MORE FUN do barbariccia and u'll see how fun it is and how bad mount ordeal is
@@LordRobaZe i feel like barbariccia is more honest, you have more leeway and error margin, but she's so much more fun and engaging, rubicante is super easy and there are little mechanics. Barba is not hard, but she's more fun imo
@@grimacetexas9719 I feel rubicantes mechanics are more confusing and hard to grasp. I still cant understand the wheel attack at all, brain doesnt go that fast.
I just started XIV as my first MMO, and I didnt understand 99% of the terminology, but this got me excited for being inevitably stuck doing raids in PF
I cleared this at a decent time in the tier, got my 8 clears and stopped doing it. The last 3 clears I got though were painful because even reclear parties were full of people who had no idea what they were doing. One week it took me 16 hours of pulls to clear in reclear groups. The later in the tier you try to do the fights, the worse the players are, so I commend you for managing to clear this late.
Congrats, I also completed the fight first in pf however I moved on to a static. We have completed it at least 12 times now with my static. It is nice to have consistency with statics.
This is by far the worst fight in the game as a caster outside maybe ulitmates, its really easy to get cold feet on those casts so you don't snap shot, get stoned by a snake and wipe the party. And thats not even getting into the amount of running around you do for knockbacks, mechinic positions and dodging the lava plumes. I pity all you black mages, i truly do.
Gratz on the clear!! Coming from someone who *only* just found a static for this tier well after I cleared it and the tier before in PF exclusively, I mean that. PF is either a collection of folks who know the fight deep in their soul, or it's a unintentional 1st mech prog party. Soul crushing pain, but that clear euphoria is addicting.
Damn, I was doing this wrong by sucking. Could have needed that advice to not suck earlier. Thank you for this jewel, Cider. That was the greatest summary one could ask for.
As someone who runs two groups working on Snake 1 / Dog 1 into Fourfold but who has also PF'd this fight a lot, you're spot on! So hilarious but also so true. Congrats on the clear!
Well some1 like me who cant get any good statics must rely on pf. Welp, cleared it. But still....why are such ppl even allowed to raid? Go play casual content if u cant even remember a basic trait. Pf should get a log-filter, and who died like 5 times per run is filtered out.
honestly it's not that the main problem, people just keep skipping mechanic after they "see" them even on the floor, causing wipe, or generally need practice on previous mechanic but they are so impatient and want to clear as fast as possible, and rather waste 7 other people time than get themselves practice to understand and master the mechanic
(before watching the video) I'm not gonna lie, I grinded this fight in November for a whole week, 8 hours straight every day. Half of my time usually went with recruiting people only, since it was just a pain to assemble a team to prog it, let alone clear. Funny thing is, I completed the fight on my Sam after that week of grinding in pf, but after that I went on to my Whm the very next day, and I'm not kidding, I cleared it on my first pull, without anyone making any mistakes neither on P1 nor on P2. It was a well-oiled-machine, and I loved it. I actually love the fight a lot, but you definitely need a static if you want to save your braincells D:
@@celcius_87 uhh about 2 weeks? I started on about week 3 of the tier, but by week 4 i had a medical thing happen so i was out till like the end if October and cleared about a week once I got back to it.
I cleared this fight recently, but I was ready to clear for a while. My dumbass kept joining HC2 and Dominion prog groups, which sometimes turned into a phase 1 party as usual. I got desperate and made a 2 chest weekly reclear, hoping that no one would notice I hadn't cleared yet once we started. We 1 shot the door boss and cleared phase 2 after a couple tries. I do hope everyone gets the clear they're looking for, but damn PF groups can be a nightmare.
The more I watch this, the more I realize that I'm probably only ever gonna do high-end raids in a static. Not just for my own sanity, but also for my own self-esteem.
When I started progging P2 of this fight in pf I ended up spending more time ikn P1 than actually progging P2. It was almost bad enough to make me miss P3S pf.
PF is so much better then these cancerous casual statics that take litteral months to clear bro everything from raiding times and consistenty. cleared the tier in week 2 and been joining static to help out but by joly good god do people suck just as much or even worse then PF but also with the added negative of working with 7 people's schedule's To anyone reading this, do yourself a favour and just PF it, play some other game in the background while waiting for a PF to fill so it doesn't feel like it takes for ever. Unless you're a healer then it's basically the same as insta popping a duty finder Q
So you're ready for the TOP pf experience now, right?? (Although in all honesty i find ulti pf a little bit more chill than savage pf? The people without patience weed themselves out and dont subject themselves to this.)
update 2 days after watching the video I decided to give it another shot and insure more parties have a tank that actually mits more raidwides than not at all, since that I've cleared part 1 4.5 times (the .5 is because one time we hit the damage check but it was durring snake 2 and everyone died by the end, I didn't notice and didn't invuln oops) I am now on LD and already mentally trained for HC2, I would like to thank you for inspiring me to get back on the saddle, also god damit you made me get back on the saddle you know how many hours I've lost. Keep making great videos, your suffering inspired me to suffer more as well
honestly, NA West wouldn't be nearly as bad if PF had the sense to rearrange the order of spread spots and go RHMT (from left to right of arena) instead of THMR. That way if NA goes on the healers, the squishiest members of the party aren't _clear on the other damned side of the arena_ Alternatively, if attached to keeping THMR, do NA East instead of West
@@JelisW NA west is trash because it creates an excessive amount of moving around and opportunities for things to go wrong. It is not any easier to heal. It's all cons and no pros.

@@bigquazz3955 There are literally so many times he zooms in on his own corpse. This is not meant to be a "I'm good and everybody else sucks" video at all.
@@bigquazz3955 He's not a narcissistic hypocrite, he dies at some clips just as the others, even if a fewer times. That just simply means he's better at using his brain than your average -5 IQ party finder leecher who thinks that if he lies about seeing enrage and goes into a clearing group he will get the kill.
I think I commented on a previous video for yours about this, but I cleared 8 in PF as well. It was very challenging but was very happy to finally clear it.
My ADHD had an aneurysm like 2 mechanics into the fight. I'll never understand how people can find these raids "fun". Just watching this got me stressed enough to cancel all plans for the rest of the evening... But you do you I guess.
Hmm, as someone also with severe ADHD who dances recreationally and raids, the two are remarkably similar. You stumble over the choreography and learn it bit by bit, step by step, and the team as a whole will struggle; sometimes it's you who just can't get a step for the life of you, sometimes it's another member, sometimes people just have random brainfarts and spontaneously forget steps and fuck up, and there's nothing for it but to drill the same part over and over and over (and over). But then when things finally "click" and everyone falls in sync and moves smoothly together like a well-oiled machine, it is the greatest rush. Also, wiping over and over again on one mechanic is no big deal as long as you have the right party. If everyone is chill and having fun, mass death can be the funniest thing, instead of upsetting.
@@JelisW I guess it works differently for different people. I'd get frustrated after a couple runs with no noticeable progress and/or at myself for sucking at any of the memory puzzles.
I swear to fuck I've been playing FFXIV since 1.0 and holy shit do I just get disgusted seeing the absolute convoluted mess that Savage raiding has become. Like it's not even fun sitting through this shit anymore. Extremes are the idyllic difficulty that the game should strive for between a good balance of personal enjoyment and reward.
Not gonna lie there is a truth in it. P8S feels super convoluted, but more so cuz you are at the mercy of 8 people functioning properly (or to be more precise: having that ONE run that finally works out). But that is also part of the fun. Gotta take it chill and not make work out of it, sounds easier than it is tho. But I would like it to be more slower paced as well. P5-7S had that systematic pace that I love.
Congrats on the clear! Absolutely love all the musical references you put in there. Thought hips don't lie was a clever one, and then you threw in to the windows, to the walls into booty rockin everywhere and I had to pause the video cuz that's gonna stick with me in this fight always
I have never (and probably never will) do any real kind of current raiding in XIV. Just listening and watching this video had me cracking up, I loved it. First time seeing a video of yours I believe, but it was beautiful! Thank you for your suffering. :D
I did my 8th and final clear for the book last week. Never again (outside of my static that’s on animals 2). BiS’d my main and alt. I don’t know what was more frustrating, learning the fight and finding parties at your specific prog point and actually reaching that prog point, clearing, or the last few reclears this last month with PF randos that got late carried and made “weekly reclears” look like snakes 1 prog or fresh phase two prog. T.T
took my raid team 718 pulls from the first pull of phase 1 to the first kill of phase 2 we have never NEVER struggled that hard to clear a fight before. we cleared uwu faster than we cleared P8S it's a hell of an achievement for new raiders
I remember doing this with Diamond Weapon Extreme in the first week it dropped. So many wipes lol But we got clear, I ended up in a DF (not PF!) group of random assembled other folks who'd been doing the same thing I'd be doing. We were the Avengers of Duty Finder Sufferers lol. We finally got our clear. Was it hell? yes. Was it a memory I'll cherish always? Also yes. Just fun to either do it with friends and win together or to be the underdogs and find a team of ragtag beaten down folks who bond over a shared desire to end. this. boss!
This was me the past 3 weeks! I was on enrage prog for 3 weeks spending every night trapped with PF "clear" groups that would die to NA1/HC1 for an hour then disban. Finally went in with a FC friend who created a duty complete group and beat it in like 3 pulls. Great video BTW.
