Bro, speed runners have no fun. You’ve 100%ed the game, you collected all the rocks. What’s left for you to do now, touch every single solid surface area including ones inside out of bounce area in the game?
It would require someone to create a mod that changes rocks despawn properties or how active objects work, and a beefy pc I think. He probably has the pc though.
I saw a Games Radar article in my newsfeed about how someone collected every rock and I was like "That's insane! Who would do that?". Now it's all adding up
For the people wondering why the spherical boulders are considered to be natural. If a rock is in a stream or river, the rock gets gradually ground down to a point where it is round. At that point it can roll with the current and erode from another side, causing the rock to get rounder and repeat the process.
@@scottishcheese13Yes, but those basalt platforms can occur naturally, provided there’s a place where lava and water meet- he recreated the conditions that lead to the rocks, but didn’t refine or carve them further in any way. I feel like it counts, or close enough, anyway
It's videos like this that help remind my that Tears of the Kingdom is one of the most insane games Nintendo has released, maybe ever. Like, there's an entire map, with 3 different tiers of world to explore, endless quests to complete, and a story mode, which already makes it one of Nintendo's biggest games ever. And then, there's just straight up G-Mod attached to all of it, so you can basically do anything you want on top of all of that.
This is perhaps the most in-character challenge for link yet. I can't imagine a timeline in which link would ACTUALLY get rid of the sheikah slate, for example, but I COULD see TotK!Link, in the middle of his quest, go "Hang on. I should make a vehicle out of every rock I can find."
In some universes Link is a physics breaking speedster who wakes up and stops 2 ancient tragedies in a couple hours each, in others he's a perfectionist who spends years on end not helping anybody and quite literally wasting his own time purely to say he did it.
I know it’s not the main focus of your comment but I don’t think Link got rid of the sheikah slate, he probably just. Gave it back to Zelda. Because it was hers, and Zelda probably gave it to Purah who used it to figure out how to make the Purah Pad (and even then there’s a couple reasons why it just isn’t as cool, such as Purah can’t figure out how to replicate those features yet, Zelda didn’t want those features on her Purah pad, they’re not on there because it’s a prototype, or the most agreed upon reasoning as to why nearly all of the sheikah tech was stripped from Hyrule, Sheikah tech is seen as Evil And Bad Again and at least magnesis is used by the Yiga so it does extend to the slate’s abilities)
i gotta say, i completely respect how smant/his editors are able to condense these long streams into much shorter videos. its super impressive because it doesn’t really feel like anything is left out and is also super digestible, not that i don’t still like long videos but still lol, very impressive :D
the cuts after something went wrong were perfectly timed. just enough time for smant to go "ah!" and then we get to imagine all the delicious chaos while keeping the pacing tight. incredible job
Its intentional, clickbait. If he wanted too he could add "type" in the title but that wont be as massive of a challenge as collecting every single rock in the game. Edit: clickbait*.
Damn it, this is why you don't EVER callout a speedrunner for playing a game too fast! I bet that in the next week, or even next couple of days, there's gonna be a new category for TotK called "Rock%"!
@@Ron_Jambo_ A family friendly stream deserves family friendly semi-mocking comments... Or maybe I'm just weird. Scratch that, "Also, I'm just weird." XD
@@Ron_Jambo_ Because that's the joke. I don't actually think it'd influence children, but alcohol usage is the kind of thing that gets mentioned in maturity ratings, so I exaggerated it for the sake of humor. Sorry if that came off as a serious concern.
They should make smallant thebrock collector a npc. Can u imagine seeing a guys travelling around and as the game progresses his vehicle becomes larger with rocks. Maybe he can sell star fragments and ores haha
Most speedrunners already played the game slowly at least once before speedrunning. It's what makes them realise they like the game enough to run it in the first place
I understand the lack of "Marbled Rock Roast", seeing as after Gohma is defeated in the story, the delicacy goes extinct. However! Regular Rock Roast DOES in fact exist (It replaces the marbled variant), in fact, it is used in a questline and I believe later can be given to the chef for money.. or something? it's been awhile since I played.
When I read the title I thought you'd be doing like a speedrun of collecting all of the gemstones, flint, etc, as well as the unique talus hearts. I realized how foolish I was at 0:34
I hate that mentality of thinking that speedrunning is killing the fun since speedrunning is what makes a lot of games fun for me. Finding unintentional skips and doing things quickly makes me happy, and a lot of people don't seem to understand that. What you did wasn't even really speedrunning when you first 100% TOTK, but the same things apply.
...people seriously don't realize that people have fun playing the game a different way from other people? ...stupid, just stupid. People should play games the way they find fun. and if yours is speedrunning, then do speedrunning.
speedrunning is for me literally the most beautiful love message you can send to developpers. imagine loving a game to a point u're ready to spend hundreds of hours completing it again and again to a point u know it almost perfectly. speedrunning give some games the replayability they didn't had
Besides, why is it that person's problem if you don't have fun? Are they like the fucking brother in 1984 who is watching everyone to ensure they have fun, and if they aren't then they call them out on Twitter.
There are lots of challenge runs(if a little less than botw), and of course the infamous straight line challenge, but other than that I agree that there is significantly less totk content these days.
Personally I just can't 100% the game. In BotW you could accomplish things just playing 15-30 minutes. In TotK I can play for 2 hours without feeling like I accomplished anything. I did everything in BotW other than collecting all Koroks (still collected enough to max out all inventory slots), but in TotK I'm only like 50% done with shrines and even less with everything else and I don't really feel like playing it. It's not like it's bad, but it just takes so long. I can play it for 2 hours and barely make any progress or play something else for 2 hours and actually do make significant progress.
this is so awesome, i loved this!! i always love to see tears of the kingdom challenge runs, it’s such a fun game that really showcases how creative people can get!!
3:10 - This reminds me of the scene in Armageddon where Ben Affleck is trying to make it back to the drill site and they jump over a big canyon with the thrusters lol.
Can you collect every type of rock in Tears Of The Kingdom? Start of the video - The title End - Doug is now arguing with chat about going to meet up with Dwayne the rock Johnson.
I mean, he already did to complete the recipe book. Unless you mean with every possible buff variation, in which case there are probably tens of thousands...
this feels like the response to "oh you're a fan of rocks? NAME EVERY ROCK!" and the responce is "I'll do you one better, I'll SHOW YOU EVERY SINGLE ROCK!"
That screenshot of all the like crystal rocks at the end of the vid is actually art, it looks so pretty. Side note can twitter please critique more so we can get more content. About the only good thing twitter has going for it
Imagine being a stone talos and seeing a dude driving up in a cart made of your dead species, then he murders you, attaches your heart to his cart, and gleefully drives off into the distance
At 4:51 that was that one moment from the Lego Batman 2 game XD where joker tears apart Batman’s batmobile and then it’s just Batman on a chair 😂 that’s great.
Honestly love to see people come together to do something fun out of spite. Because at some point, spite becomes irrelevant, things are fun because we decide to make them so and just enjoy ourselves. People who are like that are the best to be around. You might even say they rock!
1:47 It's not just a boulder, it's a rock! A rock! It's a big, beautiful old rock! Oh, the Zonai used to ride these babies for miles, and it's in great shape!
“These are going to be all rocks which are accessible from a completed save file.” Is it really a rock collection without the purdiest rock in the whole game? :3
"Speedrunners have no fun". Chief, they've literally had the most fun that you can possibly HAVE with a game. They did everything in the entire game, then said "Okay so I'm gonna create specific rules and try to beat it again to continue the fun"
Speedrunners: Have fun challenging themselves to do something as fast as they possibly can This dude: gosh how dare these people enjoy the product they bought differently from me, smhing my head
Sometimes, words hurt, and you never know how deeply it'll cut a person. Othetimes, the other person says "that cut deep like scissors. well I choose ROCK", and then you're left with confusion
This might be my new favourite ToTK speed run. Only one thing though.... THE LEVIATHAN FOSSILS!!! Fossils are made of rocks!!! THEY MUST BE INCLUDED!!!
