You guys I am so happy to be back! This year has been an emotional and mental roller coaster. I really have been struggling with a sense of losing my identity since going through my divorce combined with the anxiety of an uncertain world and it sent me down a path of questioning who I was and what I want out of my life. I really appreciate all of your kind words and continued support, its seriously such a great feeling to have others appreciate the things you make and find beautiful. I hope you are all well and dealing with your own current life circumstances as best as you can. ❤️
i'd be interested in a 'wigs 101' tutorial.. i'm sure you've probably mentioned elements in other vids, but like what wigs you recommend (both upscale and affordable), what type of synthetic hair is generally best for coloring, best tips for what to do and/or how to flatten natural long/thick hair when putting a wig on, how to pin the wig down to keep it from slipping off, etc.. you wouldn't even need to make it a coloring vid if that would take too much time, just general wig tips/tricks..
Hair color doesn't work that well on synthetic hair to begin with, so you're safest bet is using a fabric dye like rit that is meant to be used on synthetic material (like polyester/nylon, synthetic hair is just plastic). If you really want to color your own wig than you should invest in a human hair wig (Caitlin uses human hair wigs in all her videos). A pre-bleached lace front human hair wig can run you anywhere from around $100.00 to multiples of hundreds, lol. Shorter wigs are usually cheaper so the most affordable is usually around 8-12 inches in length. You can also get human hair extensions for anywhere from 20-80.00 (again price varies by length) and you can use them to practice color with, or to bulk up a cheaper wig by sewing or clipping them in. I'd recommend getting a bundle of tracks to start if you're just wanting to play with color and color placement and especially if you're wanting to try Caitlin's techniques. You could easily recreate some of her styles like the peekaboo rainbow or holo. And do so without worrying about making a mistake on your own hair or an expensive wig. Anyway, I hope some of that was maybe useful!
me after getting my pink hair bleached white by sea water: crazy how hard it faded, must've been from the sun or something me after this video: it all makes sense now
UGH I can’t describe how happy I am you’re back!! I’d been rewatching your videos over and over again, and constantly checking to see if you’d posted. You do some of the most unique and creative hair color on RU-vid, and I’m so happy for some new content.
ah yes, this is what i needed. As a new hairdressing student i get so much inspiration from your videos to really invest in my studies, and bring creative colour services to my home country.
it’s good to see you again :) welcome back! I always thought that bleaching the old hair color was the “only” way. Super interested in seeing how you do it here.
A lot of times lightener pushes vivids deeper into the hair so it’s harder to get out. Malibu C makes a product called CPR that you can use first or even DDL and it will help remove vivids. Just gonna throw this out there. 😁
Happy to have you back, I truly enjoy your videos and your SKILLS! I wish I could afford you, my hair needs your magic touch! This wig is STUNNING, you're STUNNING, and when combined - OMFG! PURE MAGIC!!!
I am glad to see you back! I missed your face but I am glad you took some time off to yourself. I know you did not stop posting content all together I have been loving the IG content. But is nice to hear your lovely voice again. Hope you are doing well and staying safe and healthy.
you're awesome. just the coolest. i don't even know how you envision this stuff. glad you're working on stuff. sometimes when i feel the worst it's impossible to even imagine summoning the energy and confidence to make something, but invariably when i do it makes me feel better. depression is like that. putting your work out in front of people also keeps you accountable in a way, which gives you the healthy obligation to keep moving forward. i think you're gonna be fine.
Yay! I saw this on your IG and was hoping you would make a video! I hate bleaching my hair so I'm a big supporter of choosing a new color based on how it will look on top of your old faded color. Welcome back!! ❤️💙💜💚
I am so glad you’re back. I have been watching my notifications to see when yours would pop up. I love love love this. I will say that I have had this cut. Not the bangs, I don’t look good with them. But I’ve done the longer, disconnected fringe. My stylist, whom I miss dearly...as I moved from Florida to KCMO now, was amazing and you remind me of her! You and she would’ve gotten along, I think. I hope you continue to make content. I agree with this year being a icky one. Take care of yourself. 💜 Edit: the wig colors are stunning!! Omg!
Absolutely loving it! I added some purple galaxy theme colors to my hair recently, also trying to plan for how i can keep up with fun colors with minimal damage. Great way to show how bleach or color remover isn't always necessary. And, LOVING that jacket! 💜💙
I've always wanted to have plaid hair-- I've never seen it, and figured it's because maybe it's too weird/difficult/ugly? But I think it'd be rad. Could you do that? :) Would love to see.
So happy to see you back!!! Glad life hasn't taken this amazing view and talent away. You are appreciated! Thank you for sharing your talent with us! 😘😘😘😘
It is so good to see you back! I saw your video and went "wow, I haven't seen her in a hot minute!" and couldn't click fast enough. I LOVE this haircut on the wig, it looks so absolutely cool, I hope you wear it more often. What a statement!
I always colour over my sister's old hair colour rather than stripping her hair. I love the effect! I am going to try and lighten the opacity next time!
I LOVE the cut!!! The colour is amazing I love how the blue turned out. That’s seriously a look I’m tempted to take to my hair dresser. I think this look would also be nice if the coloured side “ leaked” into the black at the back a little bit. Amazing work! You’re SO talented it’s crazy!!
Yasss love the long and short sides. This is kind of like an uneven bob. The colors are amazing, and the black outline is the cherry on top. Also have you ever thought of doing a video where you ask commenters to give you an awesome hair idea and you pick one u like and try it on a wig?
Amazing! I love northern lights, and I love how it looks like you captured a picture of it and framed it in the wig! Simply amazing 😉. And welcome back, I missed you and hope your really doing well.
Would wear that wig in a heartbeat. I loved it before and after and will definitely get in contact someday to get a custom wig. I love all your work ^^
The color is amazing. I find sometimes the best colors I get in my hair is when the original (usually turquoise blues and teals) fades and I try to do something in a hurry to "fix". I think it helps that I have mostly white hair. The color fades quickly and evenly in those areas so I always end up with silver highlights. I may try your black outline technique with a really blue black next time I have someone to help me with my hair. I usually go darker at the roots but never thought about the ends.
