More locs doesn’t always = more volume. With microlocks if you want to have more volume, switch up your interlocking pattern. If you’re a pattern 4 switch it to pattern 3. Pattern 3 gives locks that’s full voluminous look. Whereas pattern 4 gives the rope look because it’s a more tighter pattern. Your hair looks beautiful

I'm at 7 months w my DIY microlocs and a good majority of my locs are already locced from the ends to the middle of my locs, esp around my crown and back of my head. I always think its so cool to see how other people's locs are progressing and the time frame of certain changes. The whole front section of my locs also are taking much longer to loc up. I wash every 1-2 weeks but not cause I like to, only cause my scalp is pickyyyyy. I washed after about 2 weeks just yesterday and omg, I was so surprised w how dirty my hair was, so anything longer than 2 weeks & my scalp be on fire. Cool to also know I'm not the only one who just uses shampoo lol.

I am 11 months in as well, 10/20 is my day. I did the same as you, split locs about a week in, and then had to combine each retie. I was washing only when I retied for a long while, but I have started washing weekly for about a month now and my locs are finally condensing, thank gawd! I just got this conditioner from nappy-n-happy and applied it today for the first time....🤞🏼 I need the moisture so hopefully it works out fine. Your locs are flourishing! You look amazing!

I’m about a 16 months Locs and I’ve had to combine some. The front hasn’t loc’d either for me either. But I loveeeeee my locs.

Im 4 months in and have no scalp(4b) issues at all. I committed to No water, oils, silk coverings for a year. My loctican takes a washrag with peppermint shampoo and rubs my scalp before a retie. That's the only wetness they get and not at every retie. For faster locking, and its working so far, I agreed to commit to this regimen. I have no itching, dandruff, or irritation. Each journey is different for sure. I have 357 locs. Your hair is beautiful.

You did an awesome job on your grid! I finished mine with 472 and I have definitely combined since then! Wayyyy too many locs for me! It was exhausting! 4 years later I think I’m good with the amount I have. I know km in the 400’s just not sure how many!

I'm considering starting my locs over by combing them out or just shaving it all off. I didn't establish a good enough grid like I thought now I just don't really like them. I just love yours. And you are the reason I started mine.

I would stick it out a little longer and take a break from looking at other locs. That way you can have time to differentiate between you being unhappy with YOUR locs or you being unhappy that they don't look like someone else's.

The ones on the front of my head were the last to fully loc. The back loc'd first for me too. I don't have a schedule to wash mine either, it's just whenever I feel like it.

If your not going to shampoo your locks on a schedule you needs to at least to spray on it to keep it from smelling ...bc the smells aren't a good look or cute for a anyone. Regardless ...your locs will start to having major build up and is a breeding n g ground for fungus to start to develop
