I started racing with a 450 and my cousin asked if I wanted to try his 700 Raptor. I was amazed at first but when I raced it the 450’s all pulled on me from 1,2,3 gears. So I sold it. Like you I went threw it 100% and fixed or modified everything. Now I’m in search of another 450 there just a better machine.
I'm a Yamaha guy and you making me re-think about switching with this quad, had to grab me some napkins for the drool, love it when things get custom so the manufacturers see were they fall short with production to not create excitement.
The mods you've done changed the look completely. You've kept this honest as a budget build and it shows people what can be done while keeping your bank account alive and well. My only personal complaint here is the different shades of green on some of the various parts aren't identical. This isn't the end of the world but I'm OCD for things like that.
Mike The Man’ Hey Brother we have talked in the past before about Banshees & Toomy’s T-5’s! Your killin it Brother, very proud of you 👏 & your success!!! I’m sure you don’t remember but I have a 2001 Banshee I bought new in 2002 with about 20 hours on it total. Still has original grips & front tires on it. All bolt-on mods: T-5’s pipes, boost bottle, new Holeshot back tires, obviously it’s been rejetted & tuned. I bought new Renthal bars but never flipped it over or just bent them because no cross-bar I usually can bend without rolling the bike. I have back 2.5” spacers on the rear & then for the front i flipped the rims & moved the valve stem to otherside gaining about 2” inches on both sides! I unplugged the rev limiter or whatever it’s called (the wire connections by carbs). I threw some nerf bars on & a six-pack rack & a Summit front bumper! This is the third Banshee I’ve built the exact same way. It’s a ripper, anyway I was thinking of putting it up for sale after I clean & tune it up from sitting a few years but had the thought of a raffle? Would you be interested in raffling it off on your channel? Maybe make a video on it getting tuned up & peeped before the raffle?? Ofcourse cut you in on some of the revenue for your troubles? We do have a Space challenge I live in Phoenix Arizona! Kick it around Brother & let me know if I’m on to something or just on something???? Jeffery #44 aka/Fro (602)717-1809 Mentzerjeffery@gmail.com
Thats a bit much. More mods = less reliability. For regular riders stay close to stock as possible (even at rebuild time). Pipe /muffler.. better filter /intake system on my '21 Raptor 700R-SE & '11 YFZ450X! Both minty crisp!
I just put new HD tie rods and new wheel bearings on my KFX...Iv owned a detail shop the last 14 years...I got Chemicals and acids that will make the hubs brighter than new! I got tricks for every kind of metal, steel and aluminum...Love the content! Team Kawasaki!
Absolutely love the direction you went with this bro, great job man! Looks 100% way better than stock, I love kawasaki still have my kfx400 that I bought brand new in 06, never once failed me! I hear you on the cold, it was 29 out today and I took the day off from work and went out on the yfz... totally worth it sometimes you just gotta ride! Keep it up with the great content.
Just bought back my old kfx from 6 years ago, stumbled on your videos and am so excited to start on mine, awesome to see advise and tricks being shown. Back in the day didn’t have a clue haha love the videos man!!
Bro that was A list acting if I’ve ever seen it. Love these videos man keep it up, an you’ll be a background actor in every Boston/philly based movie for years to come.
Love the changes man! For atv guys waiting on parts to come in, videos like these really cheer me up and get me pumped again! Can’t wait to next top quad, I think that KFX will smoke Justin’s trx again!
Looks awesome man! Only thing I'd personally change would be taking frame, nerfs, bumper, swing arm, (anything grey) and painting it black! I think it would finish it off really nice!
i bought my first used quad this yr, and every thing i take apart on it i detail and get looking new as i can. had to do the same shit to my hubs but i got em looking like brand new
That bolt on the rotor looks like the bolt for a speed sensor set up for the trail tech kit at least it looks like the same one i used to run! Not bad sabo even for a KFX 🤣🤣
Definitely some worthwhile upgrades there Sabo i wouldn't have changed a thing, i think its cool you're running that other stabilizer too . I know it's probably against popular demand I'm sure but it nice to have an idea of how different equipment holds up and works. Awesome Video Dude please keep it coming !
Hey Mike on those cheap bearings for sure pop off the seals and pack them with good grease, they may not get much from the factory, that's what I've noticed. Peace
I have a full Walsh Kfx450. Let me tell you as to how Walsh was the absolute best thing for that bike. The a arms and fox gen3’s with the Walsh swingarm not only plants the bike to the ground in a way that it’s nearly impossible to flip the bike. It also glues you to the track. I’ve owned Laeger protrax, Walsh trx450’s, six5 Design’s lobos etc etc and none have compared to how the Walsh Kfx450 have rode. I also have the Walsh lowering kit, tranny cooler kit precision stabilizer, fci intake Baldwin engine, Hinson full clutch assembly etc etc etc. Walsh also makes a new steering stem mount that allows for new bearing replacement. You should look into it. Also call nate or mike at Walsh they will hook you up for that bike. Another thing to consider is if you decide you o really deck your engine out call Dasa racing and have them work your head. I wish I kept the Dasa top end instead of the Baldwin. So much better response and power plus more reliable with their valve work they do. They also do in house nikasil for your cylinder. Great company to work with and by far the most power out of that engine than any other company. You need any advice on that bike feel free to ask. I can send pics of everything that’s been done if needed
Happy New Year Michael. This rebuild of that Quad is awesome. Waiting for second season of TopQuad and what new you and Justin will provide to us. I am sure it will be crazy!
Looks awesome man! I also have a KFX 450. I’m probably going to look into some of the same mods you’re doing. Love that you have one and are doing in depth videos for it since there’s not a lot out there for these quads
Well Michael You did it again !! You deserve 10 likes from each subscriber, this vid was so worth the wait buddy 🤘 The quad looks sick you have put your own special touch on her with minimal spend plus great tuition on how to build . I can just see your neighbours faces at their windows 😫 he’s built another one 😂👍
What a big improvement. Sure, the black wheels look pretty nice, but I have to say I think the polished wheels would look better since the KFX has the aluminum frame, you have a polished bumper etc. How about a comparison with the old wheels back on with all the new A-Arms, hubs, plastics etc? A simple Instagram pic would work.
The heim joints on the upper A-arms are for the caster adjustment, not camber. They allow you to change the angle of the spindle thus making your steering quicker or slower, an important adjustment for the KFX. The lower joint is for the camber. I'm surprised Full Flight has the caster adjustment, usually it's fixed.
I liked that idea with lower stem mount. Idk if you thought about it. But If he could have machined a grove above the bearing. You could have also used a snap ring. You may have tried that, but that was a good idea!! I’m goin to try that. Love the videos!!!
Cool build but I really think you need to try match all the green, the one green on the A arms, then the anodized green on the suspension springs and the other green on the hubs and exhaust. It would look really good it you could get your greens to match
Mike love the changes man! The green plastics look killer. The hubs turned out great! Get to ordering parts you will need in 9 months now! Tired of waiting for your next video!
You should have used spaces behind the rear hubs so that the castle nut would actually have any use of the locking pin which by the way also was a bad choice. Great looking quad
For the algorithm! Jk but I do hope it helps. Quad looks sick screw all the haters. It has been fun watching your channel grow and your attention to detail in video editing and your builds is great!
To align it i put a string around the middle of all four tires and make both fron and back end of the tires touch the string and after that i go about 1/4 turn in or a little less of toe in , just until it bearly stops touching the string
That thing is badass, specially cuz you will almost never see one. Not to mention its one of my favorite quads looks wise. Im a kawi bike guy so naturally the kfx is my fav quad lol
Hey meat gotta say you did a great job. I was never a kxf fan it looked just too heavy to be a race quad. But you did a great job. The kxf you have looks like it would be better in the woods than it would on a mx track. Love that green on the wheel carriers. Great job
