Being a city isn't that much of a big deal in Europe, because Europe is not a feudal lordship where the city collects its own taxes in the State. And because states are actually called countries, rather than some waffling nonsense to justify enforced authoritarian nationalism around "the country of America". Half the time Americans don't even know which beeg evul gubmint they MEAN, when they whine about the results of living in democracy. And this sort of ignorance about a Federation, IS a result of living there, and a very deliberate one.

And “er” because British people in oxford love to add -er to words randomly “maccers, brekker, rugger” It’s the older, traditional word. “Football” was more popular with non university populations because it’s a ball and you kick it with your foot, innit.

Football comes from playing on foot and not playing polo on horseback, but fine. Everyone knows American cowboys SUCK at horseback activities, if they can even get on. Most sport comes from approximating war training, and we know why there's so many fictional movies about Union's cavalry trained with sabers. No such thing in REAL life, just running into gunfire like you learn at NFL, unless you're just brave enough to join the button pressing corp. at the Chair force.

Gridiron Football and Association Football (i.e. soccer) are derived from the same game, that's why they're both called Football. When it was invented, it was named that because it was a game played on foot. As opposed to on horseback (i.e. polo). Rugby also has football in the name for the same reason, but you don't see people giving it shit.

I've been an american my whole life, and I don't know if anyone could fail this test worse than me, even if they spoke exclusively chinese and have lived in austrailia their whole life. I be wearin jeans and a tank top in 30 degrees. Also, 3-5 cups of coffee? You might as well take the single cup of rat poison to save yourself the ingredients. You gonna have a heart attack. I do drink like 1 or 2 cups of tea per day though, sometimes I missed a day here and there. The dad joke makes sense after hearing the answer, but my reaction was "I was just about to go out for milk." Yikes.

Interesting fact. Soccer was actually first and foremost a European term to distinguish between Futbol and Rugby (which at the time futbol was *not* called futbol) America picked up the term Soccer after Europe and didn't change it because there was no need.
