You're looking too deep. East coast oysters (crassostrea Virginicus) is tidal for the most part. If you're by a bulkhead that doesn't dry, it's too deep
If you are a 1st timer eating these salty snot rockets of the sea, the smaller the better. I only eat the extra small ones raw with lemon and hot sauce. The bigger they get the tougher they are to eat raw. Cooking them is the way to go with the bigger ones, frying, baking, or smoking them with butter and garlic ect👌
