A scene from Pal Joey. Great song by Rodgers and Hart. Don't worry if your comment doesn't show up after posting because I approve comments so it will show up after I read it. All the best
My wife and I were pals for 30 years. Then suddenly, we realized we were in love. I sang this song to her in a room full of strangers. They applauded and she burst into tears...and giggled out loud. At the same time. We've now been married for almost 21 years. Thanks, Old Blue Eyes! And thanks to Rogers and Hart. And thanks to YOU!
I also like the zipper song, very catchy and entertaining, wasnt a fan of Rita Hayworth and she had a singing voice over so although she had the moves and seduced frank, she didn't sing a notex
They just don't make movies the way they used to anymore! What an amazing time to be a performer- so many of them were multitalented- double or even triple threats.
I too had the great thrill of seeing Frank perform in Las Vegas, near to the end of his stellar career, but it is still one of the best performances I have ever seen, in the first three minutes he had the audience eating out of his hand. What a star!
Kim Novak was Absolutely the most beautifulest Actress that ever was. She is Classy,Elegant,Alluring and Softly Sexy. She went on tour of a movie studio with a friend and got discovered. Fairy tale dream come true. She is 87 and still looks good!!!
Definitely one of my favourite songs from the film. No, they just don't make them like this anymore. Love this film, Frank, Rita and Kim, what more could we ask for!
...Sinatra had one of the most flexible voices one could think of...there's is not a single moment in which he's looses the feeling for the rhythm...and he never shout - never! an idol for all jazz singer in the world!
Sinatra was not a jazz singer. He emulated lester young and Billie Holidays approach with measured phrasing behind the beat. That said. Brilliant and can listen to all three all day long.
Movies like this are simply timeless, not to be taken too seriously, just pure escapism and with Franks voice and the sheer stunning beauty of Kim Novak how could this film fail.
This was the first time I saw Sinatra as a kid in'57. I thought he was the coolest guy I'd ever seen. Went out and bought all those great Capitol LPs of that era.
Rob Lewis Oh yeah. I totally get that. My Dad was a huge fan so, I grew up with those albums like: "Songs for Young Lovers", "Songs for Swinging Lovers" etc. In my opinion, some of his best work was done in the Capitol years with Nelson Riddle and his orchestra backing him.
It is not only the song which is not heard often enough. When was the last time they showed this fabulous film on TV? Yet the TV channels can show trash films as many as three or four times a year.
So glad you enjoyed it and thanks for letting me know how much. Made my day! I heard an interview where Sinatra said the part he played in Pal Joey was either his favorite or one of his favorite movie roles so he would agree with you.
Thank you so much for posting. If they asked me I could write a book About the way you walk, and whisper and look I could write the preface on how we met So the world would never forget And the simple secret of the plot Is just to tell them that I love you a lot Then the world discovers as my book ends How to make two lovers of friends
I love Ella too. I grew up with the Dinah Washington version. Another good one plus a bunch of great musicians backing her up.. I found it on youtube. It was good to hear again.
Juan Bernardo Irigoyen I looked at your channel and found out you live in Buenos Aires. I love RU-vid for this. People from all over the world can meet and speak to each other. Anyhow, greetings to you too Juan (from the Bronx (NY)
Years ago, a budding romance of mine with a great guy (or so I thought) came to an abrupt end, and I immediately showed him the door. You know what he said? "I can take or leave Sinatra." Imagine. Later for you, jack.
Great posting, love seeing Frank act & hearing him sing. I would have love to have seen Gene Kelly transform this role in the film version since he was a mega hit on Broadway. No hate; jut wishful thinking!
Vavavavoom with that gown and gloves! They just don’t dress like ladies anymore. And they don’t make gowns like this anymore. No glam movies are made anymore. 😢😢
Que puedo agregar sobre Sinatra que no lo hallAn dicho. Solo puedo decir que desde muy joven me ayudaba a sobrellevar momentos difíciles y me levantaba el ánimo escuchándolo.
Kim Novak has such a wonderfully subdued, one-of-a-kind screen presence. I just did a tribute video to her on my channel, using clips from key Novak movie classics, if anyone would like to check it out.
