I have to "kick myself" often when watching movies/series, cos I stop enjoying it and just focus on all the things they get wrong. Or when talking to people. Nobody enjoys it if you correct them too much or if you keep pointing out mistakes like these. Oh, man, it would be such a nice world to live in if our predecessors went for quality over quantity instead of the other way around. >_

I worked as an electrician in a huge BMW factory for a while. And no, you are not the only one. Games/movies not using them correctly only exacerbates the misunderstandings. I even came up with a very simple way to explain the difference between kW and kWh and it still didn't help. >_< Some people just don't find this interesting or important to understand and they will just use the first term that comes to mind or it seems appropriate to them at the time.
