Void or Abysall Chess with void dimension. You chose what the pieces do. King when moving have 25% to spawn a portal to void dimension. If you are in the dimenso King have 50% of creating a portal to normal chess ( normal=the void chess ) the portal will disappear if the piece go in it. In the dimension portal will disappear after 1 turn. Lets say you go in the dimenson on A8 and you leave the dimenson on G3 you apper on G3 in normal world. And this is it.
ELECTRIC CHESS ⚡️ Like with weather and lighting. White pieces are from electricity and black pieces are from plasma. Pawns can make lightnight appear in 2 range squares but they will be eliminated after that. Knights can make appear a black cloud that will struck with a piece with a lightnight in a L shape but the knight will be blocked by 4 moves. Bishops can make appear a white cloud (not black as the knight) and will trap a pieces for 2 moves and can’t be protected or else the other piece will get trapped on the cloud ( + range only ) and only can trap 3 pieces no more , only last 2 moves and the bishop will disappear after that. THE ROOKS can make appear a plasma straight line (only 4 square range) and rook will be blocked by 4 moves. The queen can make appear a plasma cloud that can trap ANY PIECE (included the king) but only last 2 moves and after that the queen will disappear. The king can make appear a black hole that can trap any piece (except king ) that will capture a only piece only (can used once) Okay so now a gimmick, the weather , the weather will only appear after 5 moves and when it appears it will struck a random piece with a lightnight and the struck piece will get captured ( can’t struck the king ) Okay so now the white pieces (as i say at the start ) will be yellow with some lightnights inside him And the black pieces will be purple (Not too dark) a bit light and also with some lightnights inside him (the lightnights light purple) And the board will be black and white (as the clouds) Okay now the gimmick the, clouds (Not same as the clouds of bishops and knights) this clouds can make a piece hide (any piece) the cloud generation will be always on the corners (only 2 clouds, MAX 2 pieces same color) make pieces invulnerable BUT…. if you hide more than 3 moves the pieces inside them will get captured, and the last thing. There are 2 types of clouds. Plasma clouds and Electricity clouds and in Electricity cloud only the Electricity pieces (white) can hide on that BUT IF a Plasma piece (black) hides on the Electricity cloud it will get captured and reverse, there are a Plasma cloud that only Plasma pieces can hide (black) But if a Electricity piece (white ) hides on the Plasma cloud it will get captured. The Grasstime pawn, known as the Piston. The piston is the exact same as a normal pawn, but if a knight (it only affects knights) has an opportunity to kill the piston, the piston gains the ability to make 2 moves at once, and during that moment, the piston can also move like a king. But also, it cannot kill during the moment, after it's moves, it now can. The grasstime knight. Known as the sneaker, can move 2 squares forward in every side, jumping over pieces. When it makes a move, 1 square of grass appears behind it, killing the piece that is on the grassy square, and after the piece dies, the grass tile dissapears. The grasstime bishop, known as the gun, the gun moves like the Rook, but only horizontally. It can shoot... wait, it shoots PIECES instead of BULLETS that i KNEW you'd think?! That custom piece is called the leaf. The leaf can only move like a rook, but it can only move forward. Pretty useless. But it can kill a 3x3 square of pieces after it's move. But it can do a bigger explosion when i talk about the new feature in this custom chess game. The grasstime rook. This is the time i show the Quick Time Events i talked about earlier. The grasstime rook, known as the Blocker, can move like a knight, bishop and pawn combined. (Regular pieces, not the new ones) If the blocker makes a move, and stands in front of the pawn (im using a pawn as an example) the black team will have a quick time event. They have to click a button that appeared on their screen, 7 times so that 2 pawns of theirs don't die. If it's a rook, there is no quick time event. Also, i was just using a pawn as an example. It can affect any piece too, if it's a knight, 2 knights die, bishops, 2 bishops die, whatever piece. Also, i forgot to say you have 2 seconds to react and press the button 7 times. And i forgot to say the Blocker can't kill queens or kings. Grasstime queen, known as the machine. It's image is a minigun, and if you think it's a more OP version of the gun, you're... right. The machine can still move the same as the queen, but it can shoot grass tiles diagonally after it's move, and those grass tiles can bounce around the board. But it only bounces once, and after it hits and kills a piece, it dissapears. I think i made it too OP, but i think it's fine. The king doesn't have a lot of differences, the one and only difference is that he can... wait, he can PROMOTE?! Well, unfortunately, he can only promote into an orange rook, but why is it orange? Because it now has an ability to produce a knight behind it, but it's only a regular knight, not the grasstime version, and it'll waste a turn, too. The amount of knights the orange rook (known as the human) can spawn is 6 knights. Also, did i forget about the NEW pieces? The first custom piece is the swapper, it's texture is a 🔄. It cannot kill, and it's movement is moving 2 squares horizontally, so it only has 2 ways to move, if a piece is on it's kill pattern, i said it cannot kill, instead, it will swap teams and places, and the black team cannot move the swapper so that it doesn't get it's piece back, it can only move 2 squares forward and swap horizontally, like i've said for the second time. Also, it cannot swap kings, you would lose immediately if that happens. And you can get your piece back by moving away, then moving back and swapping again. The second custom piece is called a stem, the stem moves like a king, and it can kill 2 pieces that are in front of it, at once, then's gonna return back to it's place after it kills. - Changes i made 1. The board can be a 14x14 or a 28x28 or a 16x16 2. You can make the setup 3. You can make how many pieces are on the board Now the shop i talked about earlier when i was explaining about the grasstime bishop. The shop is a shop with dope mechanics you can buy, how do you get coins? You can get 50 coins after beating a bot in the game, and 125 coins after beating an online game. The first mechanic you can buy is a bag of grass, during a game, you can use the bag of grass to spawn 4 tiles of grass wherever you want. Costs 75 coins. The second shop mechanic is 2 extra humans during 2 games, but they only spawn 3 knights instead of 6. Costs 110 coins. The nuke, using the nuke kills every black piece except the pawns, single use, costs 1220$. Air Chess Pieces: Wind Pawn -Whenever Wind Pawns move, they have a 30% chance to get pushed by the air and move one extra move. If a stronger piece is blocking the way, it won't get the extra move. When promoting, you can either choose the normal pieces or the air pieces. Aerial Knight -Aerial Knights can fly anywhere and take any piece (except for the king), having a 5% chance of succession. If it fails, the knight will give up its move. It can always move normally by the way. Cloud Bishop -Cloud Bishops cannot be taken but also can't take any pieces, unless if a certain number of moves are done. The cloud will wear off, causing it to be an ordinary bishop. PASSIVE: Rainfall -Sometimes for a random number of moves, rain will take place. Rain will wet all the enemy's pieces. Rain will reduce the tile of moves they do. For example: The pawns' starting move will always be 1 tile if they're wet. Knights instead move in a shorter L shape like ㄴ if they're wet. here's a better idea for void: After the 30th move (average game lasts 40), a void piece will spawn. It cannot move, but on the next turn, 2 random tiles next to it turn into a void piece, and capturing any piece that used to be there.

The trap update: There will be 3 bear taps on the board randomly already, each player will have 3 bear traps: they are the weakest, they can only stop 5 peices from moving for 2 moves, they trap in a + shape (including the place where the trap is) Pwr lvl . 1 mines: when stepped on they explode into a 3x3 square Pwr lvl 3. 1 tank mine which is like the mine but can only capture rooks and queens with a 20% chance to do so. Power level = capture peices that have lower or equal points (Except tank mines). Traps: Traps will activate if a peice lands or goes near it in a 1 square + radius, if a trap is activated it will be discarded. (Traps are not invisible.)
Water chess:- Pawn:-just moves like a normal pawn but it can also capture forwards 1 square and it has a water ability that spawns water in any of 4 directions in 3 square radius,water will capture 1 piece for 1 move,if it doesn't move from water in 2 moves it losses it's water ability Rook:- Like a normal rook it can go horizontal and vertical but its ability turns it into water which spreads water in like lava from lava chess Knight:- it is very similar to normal knight but can also move like a rook in only 4 square radius but when it dies it spawns water in 4×4 square radius Bishop:- like a normal bishop it goes diagonally but it has an ability to spawn water in its path like lava bishop

think about it a "qween"(queen) also is only able to make rook OR bishop moves. so this "only able to make one" doesn't mean anything, so i'd recommend replacing the roshop

I've an idea for the Ice Rook : It moves like a regular rook, but it can't stop. When it meet a ally piece, it stop. When it meet an enemy piece, it took the piece and take its place.
jungle chess: bishop spawns trees for 3 moves, after, it doesn't spawn them anymore. the pawn, knight, rook and queen cannot get captured while in the trees, and can only be captured if there are other pieces in the trees. you can only move diagonally on them, and they also work as an obstruction as you cannot move further than the forest.
My idea for water chess is that pieces can spawn either water, ponds or hot tubs, the water flows like lava, ponds are in a plus shape and they take pieces to the drown zone, hot tubs trap pieces(because hot tubs are relaxing) in them until a piece the same color as the trapped one gets near the hot tub, the drown zone is like hell but instead of burn pieces will drown and come out as drowned pieces that are weaker and need to be put in hot tubs every 10 steps but if the drowned piece is not put in a hot tub then it cant move no more
Space chess : Pawns are Astroroids (It moves normally) , Knights are Blackholes (It can suck pieces that are close to it) , a Rook the Earth (its still move normally but can collide with pawns close to them and only they is only 1 rook on 1side) , Bishops are Moons (same ass rooks) , Queens are Spacecrafts (they give you predictions of the enemy's moves) ,Kings are Stars (it has an ability of destroying other enemy pieces if a king shreds an enemy king the enemy loses ).
My idea for a new chess game mode is the time gap update: This update unifies all historical eras, as tokens with their own forms of movement and abilities. For example, you can be in the indigenous eras until you are in the future. This update also includes natural disasters, weather conditions, etc. In any case, White is the 'home' team in the battle, meaning the time and setting travel happens in the era in which the tiles selected it.
About water update make it like this one. Pawn:moves like normal .ability leaves a trap that makes pieces sink. Knight moves like normal ability leaves a trap that has a chance of 40% to expand and 30% of vanishing downside is that knight will not be able to move for 3 moves so he will be not too op. You can change whatever you want and also add skunked location where the pieces will be after they sink
Shrink Chess: Any time there is no piece on an edge of the board, that side gets permanently deleted. at first it wouldn't really matter but in endgames, it would be a crucial part of strategy.
Ice update could have pieces set ice on the board. Maybe two types of ice, one strong that if a piece moves to it it has to move all the way the direction of movement due to the slippery ice, and a weaker ice where a piece can stand for one turn and then the ice breaks, and so no other piece can move to said square because now it's froze water. Maybe the slippery ice can last for some turns but the breakable ice remains the whole game. Just an idea.
yo cool thing i wanna say i made a sort of explosive chess. no it's not like atomic chess the main difference is that pieces have different explosions the queen has a much larger explosion, the rook is just 3x3, and knight and bishop just in a cross. the pawn explodes in a cross too, except a pawn's explosion only takes out other pawns, never normal pieces (that can change though) and the most fun part, chain reactions. they go on indefinitely. if you take one of the pieces in the back very early, the whole thing explodes (probably needs nerfing) explosive chess games generally last very little

Queen:have the ability to summon 4 pawns surrounding it (only can be used once for each queen), if theres a piece on the place where the pawn is supposed to spawn, it just doesn't summon the pawn at all. -Disguise. Can disguise into other pieces (except the king) the disguise will last 3 turns but the disguise will be removed instantly if theres an enemy piece looking at it. King: -leaves trap after every move (if a piece steps over the trap it gets captured and the trap also gets destroyed), pieces can go through the trap, king cannot be captured by their own traps. -freeze, can freeze a piece making them not able to move for 1 turn, kings cannot be freezed, freeze only can be used every 5 turns -wall, exactly the same like the rook -Revival. Can revive a piece that have been Captured, pieces that have been captured for more than 10 turns cannot be revived (only can be used once each game) New mode: War mode You have 3x more pieces (the second and third king is replaced by queen) And the board is a 24x24.

Very cool!! Good job. Wish there was a demo game to see. That lava chess icon with the board edges being taken by lava made me expect the game was about that. Which sounds fun, btw. After certain time/moves/pieces taken, the board gets smaller.
Earthquake chess: Pieces: Earthquake Pawn: When a pawn make 1 move it will make a cracking at 1 Square. Earthquake knight: So if the knight make 1 move it will crack 2 - 5 square Earthquake Bishop: If a Bishop make a move, there's a chance it will make a crack or a hole. Earthquake Rook: When the rook got captured, it will create a crack and if the opponets piece stay there longer about 3 seconds it will create a hole and the piece falls. Earthquake Queen: When a Queen move it can choose where the crack will come. [Limit: 2] Earthquake King: It make little crack when move. 3 Feature/Mechanics: 1: After the Piece captured It will stuck in the hole forever but how to get it out? 2: Get it out and what do they look like next Right click one of the hole and pick which one you want to brick back. The piece when it go to the hole will turn into Earth piece, they have no ability but have an ability to get rid of the crack and holes 3. Chess board and Bonus things The chess boards will look like earth at the corner and the square is brown and light brown. The bonus feature I wanna add is a mini shop where it sells upgrade. Now make lava become stone when it dissapears which unables lava to spawn on it for 2 moves but adds 2 to magma duration time and magma becoming cracked stone changing lava spread to an "X" shape and extiguishing fire
Ice chess is slippery. Rooks have a chance to bounce off walls if you go too far, also, they move 2 times as far (for example, if you mean to go to h6, you go to h4)
Did some testing, e4 e5 Qg4 (with ideas of ability on c7 or even g7, destroying most of black's pieces, if not black's king seems like the best line for lava white.

Suggestion: Tuflar-Shiver (saving this for a move opening typw) Permafrost Chess Permafrost chess is as chess variant which has new chess pieces, ice themed chess pieces, revamped normal chess pieces and chess pieces icons, and has a lot more moves, the board also has a theme of ice and dark cyan (to contribute to the theme of permafrost), both sides have a way that can possibly ruin one side or other of the chess board, using luck to do so. In Permafrost chess, there are 26 pieces, 11 different types, 3 boards, 6 new features, and all new pieces have abilities (normal pieces get revamped movement and at ice half, new pieces go on permafrost side with dark blue, navy blue, dark cyan type of colors, with abilities. The queen is the only piece that has a big impacting ability that can have a cooldown of 2 minutes and 30, or one time use.) The board has 16 letters, 16 numbers, and half is 8 letters and 8 numbers. (I imagine the board to be left and right for ice and permafrost sides, just so it isn’t unfair and the other player is aggrieved.) These are the current items (I will edit this once in a while). Ice Artifacts How to claim: 1. With an Ice Pawn, reach the edge of the board on the opposite side where your opponent is at, kill a queen, kill a room, or kill a decent, or good new piece in this variant. 2. These are the normal pieces (with different names): Ice Pawn Ice Pawns are a type of piece in chess which is the weakest of them all, but a decent movement in the pawns type when movement is unlocked. Icy Knights Icy Knights are a type of piece in Permafrost Chess which moves like a normal knight, but has the power to freeze a piece for half a move (or 10 or 15 seconds in rapid, 5 or 9 seconds in blitz). Icy Knights have a movement of a normal knight, 1 at each diagonal, and 2 at the back of the piece (gets weaker every 5 moves until it just has diagonals, when it reaches max nerf, it can go forwards 1 to make it up for removing 2 back movement), the Icy Knights have an appearance of a horse with a cyan leash standing on ice, with a color of white (black version is Blue) and has snow on their head. She they move make it so they glide (this gliding part is optional). That’s the Icy Knights. Icefrost Bishop Icefrost Bishops are a piece in this variant that can move like a king in the middle, 5 blocks diagonal, and two blocks up (does not take on the second top block, does not take at back block movement square). Icy Bishops can also be bought at the Frostbite Cabin (a shop) that can be bought using 1 Ice Artifact. The bishop also freezes pieces, but can freezes a piece for 3 moves, and has a 50% chance it can freeze to death or die to ice shards, still like normal chess taking the piece for material. The black version is like a permafrost thing, but it’s not part of it, it’s just like a blackish blue. Snow Rook (W.I.P)
Wild Chess: King: Bear King abillity: can scratch pieces around him diagonally 1 Square Pawn: Wolf Pawn: can bite pieces diagonally which means capture with no moving. Knight: Tiger Knight: Can move the same BUT can capture with a bite and scratch for 2 squares diagonally like Alfil and a rook but 2 squares. Bishop: Chaos Tiger Bishop: Its like a knight but bishop unlimited squares and a rook but 4 squares. Rook: Safety Thingy: can move like a Castle from chess 3.0 and also can super-castle or a castle. A super castle is a castle but adds a shelid for the rook which ccan revive at the same square :) QUEEN: Ultra Tiger Queen: can capture without moving all squares Feature 1: you can only get a queen when a promotion. Camel: Strong Tiger : a knight but 3 going down and 1 going right. MORE SOON :)
Update: any piece on a square next to fire makes the fire have a 75% chance to spread to that square, and moving a piece that is on fire will leave the fire where it was and a random amount of squares from two up to the full distance minus 3 squares lights on fire, if there is too little and minus three gets zero or lower, there is one square that lights on fire, and the square the piece lands on lights on fire as the piece that is on fire lands there spreading fire. Moving a piece has a 1 in 9 chance to extinguish the fire, and fire makes smoke that makes fog where you can only see a 3x3 square around any piece in the fog and the fog has a 50% chance to spread and then a 75% chance to destroy the source smoke, the spread chance lowering every move and the destroy chance going up every move. The kings can see in a 5x5 area around them. If a king is in the smoke, all other pieces on the side are visible but everything else is covered in smoke.
How about sky/air chess? And if you do my idea can rayquaza or a different dragon randomly fly through the board once per game? And rayquaza/other dragon will claw out random squares in its path that make any pieces that go on the clawed squared just die and not be brought back
Idea for water: The water piece moves 2 squares in any direccion (turning mid move included) placing a water tile on thesquare it was last on This water tile spreads for 3 turns the new piece is inmune to water tiles but normal pieces drown on water There islands where water cant appear or spread Also there could be a boat piece is also inmune to water which can carry pieces around islands but cant attack
Plasma chess All pieces are electrically charged and attracted to enemy pieces while repelled by friendly ones. So any time you make a move, afterwards if there is an enemy piece next to your piece you moved, you can take it, and if adjacent to one of your own pieces, you have to move your piece away.
Here is an idea for an update, medival chess, like all the pieces are now in a medival army and times. Example, rook can be like a catapult and can shoot like one but after they cannot move or shoot for 1 or 2 full turns
Ice chess Pawn ability: Traps a random piece next to it in an ice cube Bishop ability: Spawns a trace of ice Knight ability: Turns 1 to 4 squares that it can move to into ice Rook ability: If moving vertically, can spawn an icicle that goes opposite of the direction you moved in. (For example, if you moved the rook up, it would spawn an icicle going downwards.) Queen ability: Spawns ice cubes on all squares around it (including diagonals) King ability: Can spawn an icicle that goes in a random direction once *iceberg mechanic* If a piece is hit by an icicle, it will go into the iceberg for 5 turns. Pieces can take, but the piece that has been taken will have an added 1 turn before it gets out. When a piece gets out, it is just a normal piece. Pieces spawn on the next free space on the 2nd rank. *spawnables* Ice cube: Makes the piece inside it unable to move for 1 to 7 turns. Ice: When a piece goes over it, it has a 50% chance that it moves to a random diagonal. It cannot go on a diagonal where a piece is. Icicle: After it is spawned, it goes in any direction, and the first piece it hits goes in the iceberg. *penguins* If this is too hard for you to make, you can delete it from the game. Penguin: Moves like a camel, but cannot be controlled by any team. They move randomly, but if a penguin is taken by a piece, all penguins target you and puts you in an ice cube. *other things* Penguin Ability: A penguin has an ability where it can put you in an ice cube. However, it can also place ice randomly.
Space chess where portals and black holes open randomly (Portal teleport a piece to a random square and black holes destroy all pieces in a 3x1 area but only have a 15% chance to spawn in place of a portal)
Water chess Water pawn ability: he shots a mini water beam that goes 2 squares and makes the 2 squares slippery and if some piece goes to a watered square it will slip to a random square and if the ability is used on a corner obiously it cant leave the game also if some piece dies in one of those watered square it the dead piece will go to an ocean which there every square is watered
Water Placed Spaces Water - This will capture a piece, and to release, you need to use a move. However this is useful if your in a zuswang, so it will take 2 Turns Ice Iced This is for the King, Pawn and Knight, this moves you 1 more space on what direction Ex : Move up to an Ice block, you move again, this happens at diagonal and sideways
the basketball update or more likely an event or a game mode all of the pieces can jump over eachother and take the pieces after that piece like a dunk after that your turn is over none of the pieces take the piece directly in front of them only king has an ability wich can be transfered to the other pieces its a basket ball you can use it to take pieces directly in front of u. you can to transfer to your pieces if there is not a piece infron of them if one piece has the ball it can use the ability and if a piece gets taken ball goes to the closest piece you have to use the ability every 2 moves and if u cant use the ability in any of the directions that includes diagonal you get chackmated the game ends both sides has one ball basicly if you can capture the opponents ball you win if king get captured the game ends too so there is to ways to end the game
