I feel like Pinsir and Heracross already have the rival dynamic, being 1 stage beetle based Pokemon that got a mega in Gen 6. I still love Antaecross though
One problem with Antaecross, you gave it the ability earth eater, but you made it immune to ground moves due to being a flying type, so it basically has no ability... might want a different ability. Defiant or Stakeout perhaps. I'd also say Monarchnid could do with a bit more hp, being an ice type is already hard enough like! I think Hoovant would need to be bigger in order to eat Trapinch right? All brilliant designs! A good video.
Thanks, This is all valid feedback, I think I'll be able to spot things like that more when I've made a few more designs. I'll probably have to fix these at some point though.
Also, Hoovant should get the earth eater ability. It desperately needs it. 😂 Plus, I feel like being based on a vacuum cleaner with that ability kinda makes sense as it just eats or "cleans" the earth. I'm not as sure if it makes sense for an anteater to have 'earth eater.' Though, I have a loose connection where irl it kinda _looks_ like anteaters are eating dirt but they're just sticking their tongues down into ant hills. 🤷
I would say the same thing. But given how physically dominating its attack is, it could be a great answer to Zygarde. Being immune to Thousand Arrows is niche but it will catch Zygarde off guard (zy-off-garde huh). Another scenario is when it Roosts and loses the Flying type and still stays immune to Ground due to the ability. Otherwise a change in typing might fix Anteicross but I like it the way it is. Pretty niche. 😁
hoovant is my new best friend, such a fun design. made me laugh since i call one of my dogs both "anteater" and "living hoover" (she's got a very long snoot). really nice work making the designs look really pokemon-y in my opinion! also idk what it is but i am incapable of not smiling whenever i hear that diamond/pearl contest hall theme so great choice of intro music
Poor Scyther can't catch a break lol. In the original Red/Blue and FRLG games Scyther had Pinsir as a rival. Once Scizor came along as an evolution of Scyther, along with Heracross being introduced in Gold/Silver, Pinsir stole Heracross as a rival. In Scarlet/Violet Scyther got another rival in Tarountula even though spider guy is clearly outmatched. Outside the games Scyther had that one episode in the anime where it had a rivalry against Electabuzz by proxy of human gangs. And now this new queenly majesty. Dayum. So much envy for my boy Scyther lmao other mons be jealous of his sleek Edward Scizor hands
Hoovant is such a cute idea😂 trapinch isn’t an ant though. It’s an ant lion which don’t even like in groups. They do, however, live in sandy pits so I think a vacuume inspired design still works for their enemy
As a first video, this has a lot of master class lessons such as concise lore behind the design choices, amazing editing, and a great original idea of thematic rivalry to existing Pokémon. Kudos! Subscriber no 119 here.
I was surprised when i looked down from the video to see such a low subscriber and view count. This is easily on par with many pokemon centric channels i watch regularly. Amazing work! Anime OGs know Scyther already has a rival in Electibuzz, but absolutely love the mon you made for that idea!
At first I didn't like the Pinsir erasure as the rival of Scyther, but I do like how Monarchnid is Ice type to make it super effective against Scyther's Flying, which then gets dropped with Scizor and Kleavor and the Scyther line become super effective against it's rival upon evolution. Cool idea 😁
We gotta have more of these maybe one for my favorite one Kommo-oh if there’s a dragon there’s a knight maybe a fairy steel and it not because it matches the knight aspect but also because you can’t punch through metal making it the perfect rival and the knight wears the hide of a kommo-o to show that he’s all powerful but that would be better as a shiny for it real colors it will be from gray to chrome, red to blue and green for yellow and for it body one hand has a shield and the other is the blade itself ( I know what you’re thinking😅)
Some pokemon have useless abilities or abilities that work against them (truant) so it doesn't really matter anyway, unless in the series it can attack itself with earth moves, though I'm not sure if that woukd heal either way

@@SaroSaroArt I was thinking of a Wimpod that was based on the pill bug (roly poly) basically making it a car and it and it’s evolution would have a higher speed stat then it’s alolan counterpart, and a new Ability called Road Rage, Every time an attack is prevented it's attack stat goes up by two stages. But you do what you want with it! =)
To Saro Saro Art .Things like Pokémon having a rivalry with another Pokemon has always interested me, between Seviper and Zangoose my favorite is Seviper. I like reptiles.

I had this idea for a three stage fire/flying owl that has beef with Corviknight, referencing how owls and corvids like crows and ravens will generally try to kill each other on sight
Very cool designs! I waant sold on Hoovant's tongue at first but it reallt grew on me! The predator of Trapinch is x4 weak to its prey though... Poor thing haha
